Another thing I want to bring up about yesterday; remember the hail Mary Tanny threw up on 4th down? 2 Bills run into each other, knock the ball 10 feet in the air and fall down. Wallace quit on that play. If he keeps running that ball lands in his lap for a miracle TD. Not that it would have changed much; just proves his effort this year stinks.

Miller. The guy got 3 carries yesterday. How in the world can he have any impact on the game when he get's 3 carries....this coaching staff has utterly misused his talent. They have no clue how to use him. Let Andy Reid or Chip Kelly get a hold of him....and I can assure you he is an impact player. He may not be feature back material.....but he needs 12-15 touches a game to have any impact (see Pierre Thomas, Darren Sproles Jamal Charles, etc etc as how to use RB's in the passing game). Daniel Thomas is an utter bust.....the guy can't do anything special and will be gone next season. This team is the worst screen team in the league.....they did not even attempt one in a game that demanded draws and screens.....again lousy, lifeless coaching. It was pathetic. How do these two guys have jobs (Philbin and Sherman) really...honest question. They are awful.

I agree! How do you not call more running plays vs. the #24 Run Defense?

The lack of imagination is beyond reason. They are hoping the defense saves them while the offensive play calling is mundane.

Time to stop blaming Miller's failures on the coaching staff. There's a reason they don't give him the ball. Maybe he runs like a pansy. Maybe he ####s up plays in practice. All I know is that he doesn't get time that people think he should, but the coaching staff has been practically begging him to take the job from Thomas and he doesn't. They are the ones that see him on a daily basis. They are the ones that see him in meetings. There must be a decent reason that he doesn't get the ball. Dolphins probably need to invest at RB next draft.

I don't think that's true if you watch him every week. He is open again and again yet Thill misses him every time. I do not blame Wallace after going to a few games at the stadium this year, getting to see him in person and watching the plays develop, sorry but I cannot agree that Wallace is not putting forth a mighty effort.

I wasn't too tickled by the direction we were in with Parcells either. That guy used early draft picks on Pat White, Chad Henne, and Ronnie Brown (real early). He also ran Jason Taylor out of town with no regard for all that he had done for the organization. Not to mention other horrendous decisions (that center from Oakland - Jake something or other - he was real expensive, and really, really bad). He also brought in Ireland and Sporanao - 2 colossal failures. Aside from Chad Pennington, I cant recall anything good that Parcells did for us. Wildcat was fun for a few weeks I guess. Yeah, we made the playoffs one year, when Brady was hurt, only to get demolished at home in the first round. I'm sure I am missing something good that Parcells did for us...but nothing really that I can recall standing out aside from that one season with Pennington.

He left a disaster in his wake, and then just disappeared like Kaiser Sousse.

Hey Chuck.......Ronnie Brown was Sabans brilliant pick in a draft we could have taken...gulp Aaron Rodgers at #2 after Alex Smith went off the board.

Ronnie Brown....LMFAO a part time player at Auburn. Saben was a moron at the pro level. He knew jack #### about the pro game and ran outta here quick.

Anyway....Parcells was a scam. Total mercenary who collected his checks, packed his boxes and left us out to dry. He did the same thing to the NY Jets as a coach IMO. The guy just gave up on us quickly. It was incredible how that all was handled. Steve Ross wants to win....I have little doubt about that. If we win he makes more revenue. But he has destroyed the culture and tradition of our beloved Miami Dolphins. Inside the stadium it is a joke. And the hires he has made have been failures thus far. I hope he can clean house once again......except incrediblly......I don't think Ireland needs to go. The last couple of years (except for the OL) he has put together a lot of solid and good pieces to make this team a post season squad. We are missing a great coaching staff to get us over the hump along with a couple of peices on the OL.

This team is not far off. Some weeks we have looked great, some weeks good and some weeks putrid. All signs of bad coaching. The talent is there. This is the most talent we have had on this team in well over a decade.

This off-season we must upgrade the OL, bring in a true feature back to compliment Lamar Millers big play ability, learn how to execute screen passes ad nasum and for the love of god....get us a real head coach and OC.

Unfortunately I know we are going to have the same cast of characters on our staff yet again. No changes are coming for 2014. So hopefully Ireland can address the OL big time, get us a bigger RB to pound between the tackles and compliment Millers breakaway speed (so under utilized it is sickning) and please go after a big physical WR to put opposite Wallace and move Hartline to the slot.

Obviously Sherman and Philbin should on the block. They shouldn't even wait till tomorrow on Sherman. Terrible terrible terrible OC. IDK about Ireland, finds talent out of nothing but wastes draft picks.

Thoughts about the players:

Tannehill: Probably not the guy. Could he be the guy? Maybe with a different offensive scheme that leans on the run, including his legs. Stats obviously show he cannot air it out, Miami can't throw it one of the most times in the NFL and win.

RBs: Bad, but were not part of the gameplan. Miller is a member of a committee probably. Need to bring in a veteran back preferably powerful

Receivers: I like this group, but not its cost. Hartline, Clay, and Rishard continue to impress. Wallace isn't worth the loot, but I think he'll have a better showing next year.

OL: A group of no talent assclowns. Best player is a thug and idiot. I want 5 new starters next year. First three picks in the draft spent here.

DL: Love this unit. Want everyone back, but Solia or Starks will probably leave. DE is a strength, even more so if Dion pans out.

LB: Not convinced. Ellerbe needs to step up. Misi still doesn't impress me

Honestly, a 3-4 would still be a good idea with this group.

DBs: Another strength of the team....when healthy Resigning Grimes is an absolute must, start trying right now. Hopefully the rookie CBs can stay healthy and contribute more next year.

Special teams: A punter in the pro bowl is a bad sign. Cutting Carpenter for the rookie doesn't seem like a good decision. NEed a better returner.

I dont have an intimate knowledge of who is who in the OC world. Anyone jump off the page? Gary Kubiak maybe? Chud? The offense has some decent tools. I would think it would be a decent job for any potential OC.

I've thought Chud was a little overrated as OC honestly. I don't think he had much to do with Cam's stats in Carolina. This opinion is not shared here in Charlotte.

Well until the last two weeks I was pretty firmly in the fire Ireland and keep Philbin for a year under the new GM and see what happens. After the totally flat performances in two big games it wouldn't kill me to see the entire staff gone and a new GM and coach brought in. The entire OL needs to go as Slap said above. We need a RB to compliment/split time with Miller and an OC that actually calls a screen pass. Daniel Thomas has to go.

When it comes to Stephen Ross, it is not a foregone conclusion that anyone will get fired. He's like a luxury liner adrift at sea, off course, with no radar or cruise direction plan, unable, or unwilling, to seek answers to get the ship back on course,if it even had a course when it set out to sea.

Why have J Fisher and J Harbaugh, not to mention P Manning, chosen other places to go after being wooed by Ross? Was it because he openly tried to recruit Harbaugh while Sparano was still the coach? Was it because he's alway had his boy Jeffy by his side, the Jeffy who asked Dez Bryant if his mom was a prostitute, the Jeffy who called a fan an ##### to his face, the Jeffy who got rid of Dansby and Burnett to bring in Wheeler and Ellerbe (yes, the Ellerbe who got trampled by G Smith on his way to the end zone), the Jeffy that traded up in the first round to grab a player who played what, 20% of the defensive snaps this year, the Jeffy whose draft class included exactly 1 player who made any contribution this year, the kicker Sturgis? Great offensive line hes built,could you see peyton being the QB? OMG! Lets Reggie Bush walk to go with the feared combo of Miller/Thomas? Need i go on?

Somehow, my 21 year old kid is a big fan. I had to remind him today that the last time the Fins won the super bowl i was his age.(40 years ago) The last time they won a playoff game he wasnt even eligible to start Tball yet.

Sadly, the Dolphins are entering Chicago Cub territory for ineptitude. At least the Cubs are "lovable" losers. There is nothing whatever to love about this team.

According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, "no one in Miami is safe," including coach Joe Philbin and GM Jeff Ireland.

This should be self evident after the Dolphins choked away a certain playoff berth by losing to Thad Lewis and Geno Smith. Miami scored one touchdown over its final 25 possessions. In two years on the job, Philbin has been placid to the point of banal, while Ireland's "approach" remains as scattershot as ever. The duo's choice for offensive coordinator, Mike Sherman, calls plays seemingly at random. The Dolphins have a nice talent base, but a poor brain trust.

I don't see this team playing desperate and smart all the time for Joe Philbin. I saw the Jets showing more desire for Rex Ryan.

Consider that in the second quarter, Jets quarterback Geno Smith rushed up the middle on a keeper inside the red zone and ran through Dolphins middle linebacker Dannell Ellerbe's tackle attempt at the goal. The QB ran through the MLB's tackle.

The flip side of that came when trailing 14-7 in the third quarter, Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill faced a third-and-21 situation. He escaped the pocket and ran through the vacated middle of the New York defense for 20 yards. He went into a baseball slide one yard short of the first down. On third down he went into a slide a yard short!

One quarterback ran over a Dolphins tackler. One quarterback avoided a hit and fell short of a meaningful first down.

I don't think this years draft class can be fully judged until at least at the conclusion of the 2014 season. I firmly believe Dion Jordan will be a monster for us. This kid is a freak physically. He truly has all world skills to be a dominant pass rusher in the NFL. I think he blossoms soon...as early as next season. Our DL is a major strength. Wake, Vernon, Starks, Solia, Shelby, and soon Dion Jordan are all high level DL. And of course in a contract year Jared Odrick (who we took over Dez Bryant in one of Irelands worse moves as a GM IMO) played very well this year and may be gone in the off-season for someone else to enjoy. This was essentially his second full season as he only played in one game his rookie year and spent the rest on IR.

LB's - We took a shot on Ellerbe and Wheeler and I am not convinced it was a mistake. Both are very fast and athletic. I am willing to see how they pan out in year two of their contracts. I agree about Koa Misi.....guy has done basically nothing. he needs to be replaced in short order.

CB's - Grimes and Patterson were great pick ups and I am willing to see how the rookies pan out next season. An area of strength.

FS/SS - Jones is a stud. I love his game. Yesterday he was still head hunting even with the game out of reach. He is a gamer. Clemons has slowly developed into a solid starting FS. But I would not mind us grabbing another rookie to develop for that spot.

OL - We all know. F minus. Abortion, mess, trainwreck.....not enough adjectives to describe how putrid it was this season. The worst I have ever seen don the Aqua and Orange. Considering all the great tradition we have at this position....this was a total dud. We need some huge upgrades and fast if we want to have any shot at getting back to a winning team.

RB's - Lamar Miller is a very talented player. I would love to see what he can do behind a OL that can actually block. I think the resutls would be a lot more big plays...homeruns. But we need another back who can get the tough yards when needed. This current staff and OL can't run screens and draws.....and that is an area Miller would shine. But they completely misused him, never fed him enough and kept rolling out the bust of busts in Daniel Thomas. A second round pick that was wasted. Thomas...I give him a lot fo credit for playing with a cracked bone in his ankle. He had too. he knows his days are numbered in the NFL. I don't see a single team that would roster this guy. he does absoltely nothing special at all and has no big play ability to speak of. Another RB to compliment Miller will be addresed in the draft I am sure. Plus keep an eye on Mike Gillisee from Florida. he has some skills and may stick as a third RB.

WR - I like our group. I think Wallace proved week after week he can get open and get seperation. tanny could never hit him in stride.....not once. HUGE PROBLEM. Not Wallaces fault. He was open plenty. On another team with a QB who can throw a deep ball (Cough Big Ben) he showed what is is capable of. Yeah your going to over pay for free agents....if not us someone else would have paid him as well. Hartline is a solid possesion WR....I think he should be moved to the slot and we must find a big physical WR to put on the other side of Wallace. Gibson had a serious knee injury and I don't think he will make it all the way back next season. Matthews is another solid WR who is bigger, and can be a nice possesion guy as well. Clay is a bonafide playmaker.....use him..feature him....you would think right? This coaching staff is clueless.

KR/PR - Thigpen was nothing special this year......regressed IMO. Highly replacable.

Fire Philbin and Sherman......ASAP. I still contend Ireland has provided enough talent for a good coaching staff to get 10-11 wins out of this team in it's current state. Look at all the lousy playcalling and gameplanning this season......yet they should have finished 10-6.......losing to Thad and Geno the last 2 weeks? Scoring 7 points total in the biggest games of your season? A direct reflection of your coaching staff.

The talent is there. Tannehill has all the tools, needs to work on his deep ball (it can be done with rep after rep after rep) and have a legit HC/OC to take full advantage of his strengths (Legs, throwing on the run, scrambling ability).

Incredibly Tannehill is by far the best QB we have had since Dan Marino from a pure talent and leadership base. I really believe that. But he has a walmart discount isle coaching staff. Seriously it was the worst coaching I had ever seen in my 37 years of watching Dolphins football. Even Cam Cameron did a better job when he had a healthy Ronnie Brown that he featured his offense around for 5-6 glorious weeks. At least Cameron had a clear vision with the offense.

I am still trying to figure out Philbin and Sherman's vision.......I don't get it. It is all scatter brained nonsense. No rhythm, no reason...just garbage.

If they fire Philbin, they have to get rid of Ireland too. It is going to be too hard attracting a quality coach with Ireland there. But, I agree, Ireland is the least deserving to lose his job. Though I'm not sure how the squad is so talented with his contstant screwups.

Signed to a five-year, $26 million contract that included $13 million guaranteed last March, Wheeler was horrific in his first season with the Dolphins. Pro Football Focus credited him with a whopping 18 missed tackles and graded Wheeler out as its worst 4-3 outside linebacker. If Miami does release Wheeler, it'd likely do it as a post-June 1 cut. Jelani Jenkins could be asked to fill in at weak-side 'backer in 2014. The signings of Wheeler and MLB Dannell Ellerbe are parts of the reason GM Jeff Ireland's job status is in question.

I get the desire for stability, but the story of this organization over the last 15 or so years has been one bad decision after another (and really, how many embarrassing and crazy controversies can you have in an organization in such a short time ... Ricky Williams quitting, your coach leaving you for a college position, the incognito mess?). I'm ready to clean house, give someone else the opportunity to show they can make better decisions. I think it's a standoff between Ross and Philbin on the Sherman thing. I think Ross wants some blood to be shed to appease the fans and as evidence that he's holding people accountable for the way the season ended. Sherman is an easy target in that regard. Philbin is probably protecting his guys, trying to show off his ability to protect his people and engender some loyalty. I'm not sure Ross has what it takes to put his foot down. Look at how he handled the Harbaugh/Sparano thing, he's a half measures sort of guy. I think if Ross were truly convicted to clean house, we'd have heard something by now and the longer he waits the more time the top coaching candidates have to get other jobs. I think Ross is so weak, he'll put himself in a position where sticking with the current regime is the only choice left at the end of the day.

Ooof. I really think this whole coacing staff needs to go.

The linebackers are an obvious example. Dansby and Burnett did not play well under this staff and played better with other teams after being cut. Meanwhile Ellerbe and Wheeler suddenly regressed dramatically.
