This is not a one issue election Tim.  There are plenty of other platforms that a Republican could run on and win the general - especially against Hillary.  It just so happens that the Republicans seem determined to nominate someone even more unlikeable than Hillary.
You don't understand.  If the republicans don't get the Latino vote they lose. Latinos do not want their mama and Papis deported because they are here illegally so they will not vote for anyone who will sent them home.  Thus republicans lose.  Because they are racists! Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Of course you think that. At least I can admit I'm to the far end of the one side where I don't get how any of his stuff is offensive. You will never acknowledge you're all the way over to the opposite where every ####### thing is offensive.
So you're proud of not being offended by textbook bigotry and misogyny? Good for you.

You're also misinterpreting the spectrum. The opposite side of where you lie is the regressive left and the censoring of free speech. I've stated a bajillion times that I believe in a marketplace of ideas and that Trump is allowed to and should say whatever the #### he wants short of inciting violence. I also reserve the right to criticize him and his supporters for saying/agreeing with any of the nonsense he espouses.

O.k., Trump's now passed Kevin Garnett for the top spot on my fake tough guy list.

I talk about it all the time: 2,300 brand new up-armored Humvees, I talk about it all the time…the best in the world. Armor plated, top, bottom, all over, if a bomb goes off our wounded warriors–instead of losing their legs, their arms, worse, they’re okay. They go for a little ride upward and they come down.

If KG is a pathetic rich boy who constantly disrespects our soldiers even though he dodged the draft, yes that's him.
Well, let's see:

Pathetic rich boy man? Check!

Constantly disrespects our soldiers? Do referees count?

Dodged the draft? Well, no he actually showed up early for the draft, straight out of high school.

Guess not. Close, though...

Trump in his rally whipping up xenophobic discontent. So American.
Trump is going to really thug it up now. Home turf. Losing momentum by the minute. He's going to try to return to his glory days. Before his intelligence turned him into a laughing stock. He'll have his homes eating out of his hands.

Take it to the Nba thread, bucko, this is the "serious issues" thread, not like that crazy Bernie thread.

In 2012, Romney proposed building a high-tech fence along the US-Mexico border with additional agents to provide the necessary manpower. What has Trump's call for a fence resonated more?

Trump is building a wall.
Oh yea, Trump is building a wall not a fence. Israel's barrier system is actually mostly a multi-layered fence system. That's what would most likely be built in this country for most of the 2,000 miles. But a wall captures the imagination more than a fence.

There's that. Hillary & Obama were also for a fence hybrid system in 08. I think Bush actually built a good bit of fence and IIRC Hillary voted for that, maybe Obama too.

Trump has some good political instincts, charisma and imagination that Romney severely lacks.

Sucks. Seems like I read a story like this almost weekly.

Previously Deported Illegal Alien May Face Charges for Killing Texas Firefighter, 2 Children

An illegal alien who hit a Texas firefighter head-on and killed him and his four-year-old stepdaughter and 22-month-old son will be charged with criminally negligent homicide if he recovers from his critical injuries.

The man did not have a drivers license and was in the country illegally, according to the CBS affiliate for Dallas/Fort Worth. He first came to the U.S. in 2006 but was deported in 2008.

L.P. Phillips of KRLD radio in Dallas spoke to ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) officials who verified that Margarito Quintero was an illegal alien.

CBS DFW reported that ICE officials had no contact with Quintero until the accident.

Section 19.05 of the Texas Penal Code provides that “A person commits an offense if he causes the death of an individual by criminal negligence.” This offense is a state jail felony.

The North Texas volunteer firefighter, Captain Peter Hacking was hit head-on by Quintero. The 36-year-old father leaves a wife, a son, and four stepchildren.

“He was a great family man, that was first, family was first always and his fire department family,” firefighter Amy Cortez told the CBS affiliate. Captain Hacking was reported to always have a smile and be ready for telling a joke. He lived with his children in Nevada, a small community in Collin County. The volunteer fire department protects both the Nevada and Levon communities.

A fund has been set up for the family at the Independent Bank. A gofundme account has also been established to assist his widow and their surviving children.
The funerals for Captian Hacking and his two young children will be held this Saturday.

Hopefully MoP will come around soon to lecture us on how he sees things going on that we are too clueless to acknowledge. This thread could use a shot in the arm. So low energy.

He posted in the NHL playoff thread so he is around, but after being humiliated after being outed for his weak fishingtrip/victim posts I doubt he will come in here.

If he does, it will be after their private facebook strategy meeting.

You know what, he could have made the illegals comment and still kicked ### in November.  He didn't lose any votes over what weenies like you want to call "promoting violence at rallies". People saw thru that attempt.  The Megyn Kelly and Heidi Cruz crap have killed him and all that could've been avoided. After Super Tuesday he needed to tone it down big time and prepare for Hillary and he would have steamrolled. His base was cemented, he didn't need more antics. But, instead of toning it down he amped it up a few notches and people finally got tired of it.

Guys like you and most of the hyper sensitive types that hang out in here constantly and dissect every move the guy makes don't count. You don't represent the middle of the road crowd that only follows politics from afar and only follow every 4 years. He could've still got that crowd who most likely know just enough about Hillary that they want no part of voting for her.

You calling others hypersensitive is comedy gold.

Informal poll -

Does Bernie Sanders tearing into Hillary Clinton, claiming her record of judgment disqualifies her from being President make Trump supporters more or less likely to support Sanders?

More likely.  I agree with your premise that Sanders supports and Trump supporters are really after a lot of similar goals.  I don't think many realize it yet since both candidates are miles apart on ideology.

While Trump may have a 39-32 statewide lead over Cruz in CA, if you drill down into the poll, you'll find that Drumpf's support won't necessarily result in a large delegate haul. That's because only a small number of delegates go to the statewide winner, and the rest go the winner of the race in each of the state's 53 congressional delegates. Drumpf may very well win the state, but could end up with only a plurality of the delegates from there.

It really reminds me of the granola munching environmentalist/hunter coalition.

Best environmental preservation work ever done in this country has been done by groups of hunters.  They want vast, open spaces to hunt on.  Preserving vast open spaces is enough to form the coalition, and the hunting part can just be a point of disagreement.

We need more of that in this country.

Make American Great Again!  Bring back LOCAL flammable manufacturing!
This would create jobs both in the textile industry and in the firefighters union.  Collateral employment impacts could be felt in building material, building contractors, and in hospital employment.

Oh, also would employ a few more lawyers, I presume.

Not get off on a tangent, but hunters are generally the most environmentally conscious people.  Most possess unbridled respect for the animals they hunt.

I agree.  But when we talk about environmentalists (and the reason I added "granola-munching" to it) we usually think of Greenpeace, etc.
