431 YFS and 1 TD through 6 weeks (5 games) in 2012
468 YFS and 1 TD through 6 weeks (5 games) in 2013
That's all fine and dandy but your comparing apples to oranges here.
2013 Tampa Bay Bucs (Through 6 weeks): 0-5 Record. Points Scored: 64. Points Allowed: 101. Touchdowns Scored: 7
2012 Tampa Bay Bucs (Through 6 weeks): 2-3 Record. Points Scored: 120. Points Allowed: 101. Touchdowns Scored: 11
So yes, while Martin is indeed on pace from where he was last season. The team is most certainly NOT on that same pace. This is the difference maker here and what is going to make him a RB2 at best. The team has scored almost half the points they scored last season to this point. Which means Martin is seeing roughly half the scoring opportunities he saw last season to this point. If he only scored 1 TD to this point last season with the team scoring 120 points... then good lord that's terrifying for the RoY in 2013 with the team only scoring 64 points.
Despite the team doing poorly, Martin has scored more fantasy points through the first 5 games of this season than last season.
This...a useful floor...is why I took Martin. Sure, in hindsight, at this point in time, if I could go back, I'd take Charles instead.
But I, and many others, perceived Martin as having one of the highest floors. I think the argument can be made that we have seen his floor...and he's still an every week starter in most formats.
Hopefully the QB switch...and Jackson getting over the rib injury...and maybe Williams getting back...can get the entire offense back on track.
