I don't understand this.. you thought he was going to take Riddick's role in the offense? (well yeah, kinda think the DET coaching feels the same way with the healthy scratch, don't you?)

They have the same skill set. (Riddick and Washington have the same skillset and Riddick starts when healthy? Imagine that. Zenner is also activated!)

Nobody was expecting Washington to keep Riddick off the field.  We were hoping he would take AA's role. (He isn't fit for that role, at least Det doesn't think so.)

Size does not = power ... His skill set suits a time share with Zenner imo. Rolling out Swaggy and Theo hasn't worked in the past as they are essentially the same guy ... Theo is already there doing that for them in that role, so what upside is left?

It is as though you are completely unaware of how the Lions use their Rbs.

Riddick and Washington was always the plan. (It was? Well maybe not always.)

It isn't complicated, and Riddick being back does not change anyone's expectations.  (No, its not complicated.)

Mnm is right that currently Washington doesn't  fully use his size to his advantage yet. He's raw. He's great in open space/receptions where he has a rare combo of size and speed. So yes, receptions are a strength, much like Riddick.

Riddick hasn't had north of 11 carries all year.  The team is 24th in the league averaging 3.9 yards/carry, 89 yards per game, 3 whole rushing TDs on the year.  Plenty of "scraps" for a player that can take the role.

If that is Washington, that is why I'm holding.  If it isn't.. I'm wasting a bench spot.  Oh well.

Not if the offense doesn't care about banging it between the tackles. Theo put up 131 and a TD on 19 touches. I don't think they care about how Theo gets his touches.

Theo appears to be the clear lead back and he is performing quite well in that role.

And he has been running much better over his last two games.

Like I added above.  If Washington pans out, the logic used above was worth the wait.  If he doesn't pan out for the logic you use, we waste a bench spot.  Won't be the last time.

Some of us will wait and see, if you don't come along... cool.

Why are you so upset over this thread in particular (also you realize your posts bump the thread too)?  There's always trash to sort through in the forum... like 9 threads on the GB RB situation.  Washington has some talent.. the team liked him at one point, and he got hurt.  I still maintain the complementary role to Riddick is there for the taking. 

I started this thread as a dynasty buy... there's no reason for me to bail on him on deep dynasty rosters either, at least not at this point, given what's available in my leagues. I never said he was going to win leagues or anything like that.  I'm not sure why there's such vitriol against a high upside stash that hasn't panned out -- and may never.  Who cares?

Perhaps I misunderstood you -- it seemed to me that you felt the thread was completely worthless.  I was arguing the thread isn't worthless... it's the pissing matches in between that cause the problem.

But by then, Starks, D Lewis even Rawls could be better options. So hope you got deep benches. Notice I'm not saying to drop him, just saying most people probably should.

I don't care about anyone else's team either but the "I'm keeping him over ___" posts actually have some value as it can help inform decisions. If you're keeping him over, say, Smallwood or Dixon or another flavor of the week I am interested to know why because I am likely facing the same decision and maybe it will provide just a shade more information than I would have had previously. 

For my purposes, redraft league, Washington seems like he has limited value RoS.  Even if he does start to get touches, or actually, y'know, be on the game day roster how many weeks will it be before you have faith in starting him? Too long IMO to be useful for this season so I am dropping him for Adrian Peterson. I would rather bank on AP coming back because, if he does, he is guaranteed to be in the Vikings starting lineup. Washington, at this point, is a spec dynasty add and huge desperation play in redraft.

Since when is saying the truth, and then being right about a situation being called hating? I actually was interested to see Swaggy with Riddick on the bench 2 weeks back, but he never played.

With Riddick out he actually has an increased shot to be productive as he closely aligns with Ty Montgomery's RB style of play rather than Zenner's. I think Zenner/Washington would be a nice combo long term if Riddick is out. We can see from GB that Ty Montgomery can be very productive in that role along with Riddick and White in NE.

Last week I simply stated matter of factly that the window of opportunity was now shut the moment Riddick came back to practice. I thought this was obvious, actionable information to all. You're piped in with a condescending comment saying "it's not complicated" and that this "was always in the plan." 

Now you come back to say that I am "emotionally invested" to hate Washington instead of just saying I was right about the situation? Take a step back and look at how foolish you are acting. It's even less complicated now. Are you really going to continue to roster him as a healthy scratch week to week?  Yeah, I am the one that is emotionally invested ... How could anyone logically look at this situation and assess he is a good hold after what happened last week? It simply amazes me this continues on week to week. I don't expect you will fess up that I was right, because that simply doesn't happen in the Shark pool very often, but usually these guys just melt away into the background and the thread dies, but to continue to keep him as a stash after a healthy scratch last week? Where is the upside or the opportunity in this offense?   Sharc West seemed like a better hold last week. Look at the opportunity cost. You could have had a whole host of "proven" players with more upside by now. Even fliers like Ty Mongomery have paid off. (Weebs, I won't claim I won my league if West or Ty plays well next week. Washington has a history of having problems staying healthy. His running style lends itself to opening himself up for injury (upright, long strider, not good lean/pad level). You have to be healthy to break out, after all and Washington isn't healthy right now. When faced with the Howard or Washington decision 3-4 weeks back, I argued for Howard.

Fast forward to a real time decision today and I would rather place my bets with Rawls/Dion Lewis type guys at the back end of my roster, guys who have proven to be productive in the past (and who are also injured on the wire in many leagues). Rostering Washington is based upon hope/hype for future production splitting time in an offense that has shown lack of opportunity/past production for DET RBs. Just my .$02.

Worth holding as a lottery ticket, but the chances of hitting the jackpot got a lot smaller after being a healthy scratch this week.

And especially with all the health issues with other players, I'll be waiving him for players like West to Mike James.

Not true. You have an interesting take on reality. Last Wednesday my only post brought actionable advice based upon news that Theo Riddick was back ... as I explained Riddick would keep him off the field ... opportunity window closed ... and that's EXACTLY what happened. Then you mucked up the thread with "how's Howard doing?" In fact, you brought up Howard four times (quoted above) as attacks against me in an attempt to make me look bad, yet you say I am the one bringing him up repeatedly.   By the way, he's doing fine, but Swaggy has outside chance to outscore Howard next week.  

It's obvious you haven't a leg to stand on in defending Washington, so you chose to focus on Howard which ended up blowing up in your face in a rather dramatic way. Plus your argument makes no sense anyway, because at the time Howard was introduced into this thread, Abullah and Langford were just injured, both rookies showed something on the field, and both were prospective starters for their teams ... which is why his name came up in the first place, so it was pertinent at the time. Besides, I broke down all the weaknesses for Washington, why he was not a good fit as a between the tackles/goal line rusher (as early hype was touting him), and why there wasn't even a big opportunity for opps on this poor rushing team anyway as Riddick has basically had the same skillset and is the starter. These views stand on their own, even if Howard was never mentioned in this thread at all. So let's just drop Howard and I'll just listen to you explain why Swaggy's a great hold right now. 

Look, this was a valid thread early in the season so props to (JFS), but it didn't warrant the attention it got and I poured cold water over all the dreams, so I get attacked ... no biggie. It happens every time I introduce a minority view. Riddick goes down, I stand by my view that Washington would be very interesting in this offense as a 1/2punch with Zenner, but this was turning into a SPARQ score dream/hyper fest, when we should know by now that these high scores don't always translate to the field and he was grossly being miscast as a between the tackles pounder based on his size alone.
