I took on an orphan as my first ever dynasty team. Digging in, I got problems, especially at WR. 

The format is forgiving. 1qb, 1rb, 1wr, 1te, 3 flex, k, dst. , 14 teams, ppr

Major assets: Javonte Williams, Elijah Mitchell, C. Patt, Amon Ra St Brown, Dawson Knox, Kmet, Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Plus 1.01, 1.13, 2.01, 2.09, 3.01, 4.01.

Feels like a rebuild. 1.01 has to be Hall then it’s a bushel basket of WR. Do you agree? My WR 1 probably is a top 4 2023 pick, I’m imagining. 

Does it make sense to try to flip some of those picks to 23? If so, how is the year change factored into value? In other words, 22 4.01+ 3.01 = 23 2.06ish? I understand that I’ll be doing guesswork on the team I’m dealing with, expected finish, etc.

These are guys I would take over Deebo (potentially a couple of them I might prefer Deebo if my team sucked and needed to rebuild).  There are also some guys who I might like Chubb, Montgomery, Ekeler, Mcclaurin., Diggs, Godwin, Adams.....

There is 18 plus a handful of guys I can easily see over Deebo.  

I would also take rookie pick 1.01 over Deebo right now.

Yeah, pick 8 is silly.  Trade down to pick 20 for a lot of extra value and either still get Deebo or a similar value guy

Half those names have ADP’s after Deebo, and you most likely won’t get him at 20 (ADP’s will likely shift after the QB’s get traded or don’t and FA is done for sure, guys like Adams may plummet or rise back up.) I could just as easily say pass on any of those particular names with similar ADP’s and trade down for extra value and it would still be a valid statement.

You apparently don’t like Deebo much compared to some others top players. I can respect that and there’s certainly reason to doubt a repeat performance. I respectfully disagree with quite a few of the names you listed. For instance, valuing 27 or 28 year old RB’s coming off injuries that highly in a startup is not a strategy I would pursue. Others prefer to all-in in year 1 though so to each their own.

Didnt get much value?  You got a full 1st rounder and a top end handcuff more than he is worth.

That's one of the worst trades (for the other guy) I have ever seen.

Edit...well you did give up a future 2nd, which you can easily make a case that cancels out Mattison.

So you got pick 12 for free

I like this trade for you only because of the 2023 second rounder. I’m not that high on Marshall, & Ridley might be a drop candidate at some point, so that’s kind of a wash to me.

Great trade for you.  In FFPC I'd value Ridley at about a 4th at best (maybe lower) due to the value of roster spots.  Getting the 1.12 for him is fantastic.

Yeah all about that second rounder and clearing Marshall off my roster. Don't know if I will keep Ridley and really it was all about getting that 2nd. That 1st for three 2nds is crazy. Would do that all day for that 1st. I like Mixon hate Sutton. Akers is the mystery.

I would definitely still take 1.05 and the 2023 1st. 

there should be a pretty solid player at 1.05, and ‘23 is expected to be stacked with quality running backs.
 

So no matter how well Hall did at the  the underwear Olympics, you’ve got guys like Gibbs, Tank Bigsby, Zach Evans and so many more all through the 2023 first round. Also expected to have several stud receivers in the first round, like JS-N & Boutte. Plus a few studly quarterbacks and at least 1 tight end that could sneak into the late first round as well as well, of course. 

so no matter what the 2023 pick turns out to be, the chances of landing a stud at one of those positions it’s pretty high.

I make that trade-off fairly easily. But of course it will also depend on your team needs and current state of competitiveness.

Closer now with Hall’s combine home run. But still need to see where he lands in the draft. I also would go with 5 & 1st but likely a trade both sides may end up very happy with.

Wentz was my only starting QB and I was loaded (Chase, Godwin, McLaurin, Diontae Johnson, Elijiah Moore, Curis Samuel) at WR so made the deal. Wish I had more proven production on Lance, but as much as they gave up to get him, surely he's got the goods right?

I understand the desire here as you need a RB but I'm not a fan of this trade at all.  Hill/Adams are elite options.  No way I give up both and not get a real stud back unless Barkley can stay on the field for a bad team.

I have Ridley and I would jump on this in a heartbeat.  He may never play again.  So unless that 2023 2nd ends up being 2.01 in a deeper draft then this is a steal for you.  Getting anything for Ridley is a good get right now.  Not sure what the other guy was thinking.

As long as this isn't a 20 team league I'd take the random '23 first all day long.  Samuel is waiver fodder and AO isn't enough to bridge the gap to a better draft class.

I would love to acquire him. The guy in our league that has him notoriously just will not answer trade offers, no matter how reasonable. In fact, I'm sort of pissed off that he is a dutiful owner otherwise. (Always on time for drafts, declares his RFAs on time, etc.) It makes it less fun to play with a guy like that. 

Anyway, on to Samuel. He's highly rated in Matt Harmon's Reception Perception. He intrigues me. If he were ever on the wire, I'd bid a ton for him.

hmmm, you've got me reconsidering now.  I take back the waiver fodder remark then, maybe WR5-6 material.  I had him in redraft like 3 times last year and he just was never healthy so I guess I just soured on him and ruled him out in my mind.

Thanks. But never let me do that. I can be truly terrible at this game at times. Heh. 

My take on Samuel might be one of those times. He's an undersized guy with tons of speed. He's not a traditional receiver, and his best finish came when Carolina was letting him run the ball. I tried to acquire him before last year because Ron Rivera had said advanced statistics show that you win when you get him the football. That was all I needed to hear. 

But he was indeed hurt all last year. It was a wasted year and one wonders what was up with the Washington medical staff, a staff notoriously and rightfully defamed by the Trent Williams story. One could also question his desire to play, though nobody in Washington did. Sounded like a hernia that needed surgery and never healed, one surmises. 

Anyway, RP has him rated highly. Do with that what one will.

The only part I don’t love is having Zach Wilson + Carter, as it’s a lot of Dependency on Jets, but I like Carter, and I think it’s fair. 

And I am now officially no longer invested in Daniel Jones/NY Giants. My trade partner has Trubisky, so he was interested in potentially locking up that QB situation.

Just to clarify. I don't think he would survive that cut, either, but our league holds at least forty-sixty at all times, presumably twenty on offense and twenty on defense (it never works out that way, but let's assume). We go through the season with fifty-one, cut down to forty-eight by March, assign eight guys to a restricted free agency pool, and then after that, we expand to about sixty, with the final cutdown after the draft to fifty-one again. That's the kind of roster that I'm thinking about.

CeeDee and the 1.10 could conceivably (conceivably) be a wash with Jefferson.  I know I offered A.J. Brown and a first for Justin Jefferson and was told that he wasn't trading until after the draft, so that was, for all intents and purposes, a "no." I can't see how CeeDee and the 1.10 get it done, really, either.  

So even granting that equality (it probably isn't, at least by my estimation), then you're left with Jeudy for Ronald Jones, the latter of which moves the value needle almost negatively. 

What? You want me to take Ronald freaking Jones? Sheesh, bra. 

So I don't get this deal, either.

I had Albert in 7 FFPC leagues before the news yesterday and was planning on keeping him in all of them. He was a prime TE target for me in waivers towards the end of the season and had been going after him in trades. For super cheap. But I do agree most owners were probably cutting him. He is available in several leagues in the FA pool. I got offered 2.11 for him yesterday and turned it down. Samuel is a guy I might cut.

Or I could watch Jones value drop to zero if they bring in Trubisky & he beats out Jones in camp.

Either way, I feel like I have a young asset that I can keep or trade, where with Jones it feels like the already tattered rug could be pulled out from under him at any moment.

I didn’t feel like anyone at 1.08 would be worth more than Carter. Certainly possible, but harder to predict.
