He's not the WR I would've hoped for, but I strongly suspect the Birds will sign Javon Walker. He and McNabb are boys and train together in ARZ. Obviously that won't mean much if someone like Danny Snyder is willing to break the bank and sign him, but if all the offers are in the same ballpark, I fear JW will be an Eagle.
Best part of signing JW is that we wont have to see Greg Lewis on this team any more.
10 teams are interested in Walker, so let's not put the cart before the horse.
Word from one of the sports guys here is that Walker's knee is shot and would be too big an injury risk.As for you draft opinion...
True that they select best player available...
As long as they are at what they consider a premium position (DL, OL, Secondary, QB)
There are no TEs on the draft that merit a first round pick.
They have drafted a WR
ONCE in the first round in the past 10 years (Freddie Mitchell)
Let's have a little sig bet...
I say they draft an O lineman or D Lineman in the first round.
Hey Phillyhawk,I would be VERY leery about listening to "sports guys" from Philly sports talk. You may have seen from another thread my frustration at just how stupid Philly radio jocks are; it's absolutely stultifying to me how ill informed these guys are about sports. So far this offseason I've heard three hosts on WIP question the Asante Samuel signing for the following reasons:
*** "We didn't need help on defense, we need offense" [Eagles were dead last in takeaways last year]
*** "We could've signed 3 or 4 players for the money we're paying Asante" [we have plenty of cap room, and it's about signing stars not extra bodies]
*** "Lito is as good as Samuel and is a lot cheaper" [Lito has missed 14 games in 3 years, is #####ing about his contract, and isn't as good]
That said, Walker isn't going to be signed by ANYONE without passing a rigorous physical. And this idea that his "knee is shot" just doesn't hold water because he's been training with McNabb in Arizona and, again, will have to work out and get tested before any deal.
To be clear, I'm leery of signing Walker; I wonder if he's the answer. I can never trust anyone that's driven himself out of two excellent organizations; particularly when both teams had plenty of need for a big, playmaking WR at the time of his dismissal.
