*** Official Elden Ring Thread - We finally got a DLC and it's really really hard (7 Viewers)

You can't level up meteor staff but it holds up pretty well I have the lusats at level 4 and the Meteorite Staff is still a little better.

Lusats really blows it away after +8.   I think both are worth having.

Also it seems azure is the better armor.

I have all the main staffs now. Probably will stick with lusats when I get the component for the no ap use thing. Pretty much I have moved on to a more spellsword battlemage type character with the sword of night and Flame but still have 55 intelligence so can still pump out damage with a staff.

This is kind of a nitpick, but the Meteorite Staff is a little too good for something you can pick up 10 minutes after leaving the tutorial.  I'm nearing level 60, and I don't think I'm even close to the point of looking at any other staff right now.  It would have been nice if they had included at least a couple more viable early- and mid-game staff options.

if you talk to the fingers lady at the roundtable after killing radahn you can buy his armor from her.  the stats are pretty good for a melee and it looks ok.

My favorite armor set for fashion is the Snow Witch armor set from Ranni's questline. Looks really good on a female character.
These games always have cool witch outfits, and I often play female characters.  But this time I decided to roll a dude, and I figured I would pick up a black leather set at some point in the game.  No luck so far.

Edit: Could always re-roll of course.

Look up the Black Knife set. Might work for you. The Snow Witch with the Cap/ or not would probably look OK for a male. Gandalf the White.

Yep, that's more like what I'm looking for.  Kind of an Anakin Skywalker look.

I haven't gotten to that area yet, but I'll make a note.

Saw a video on getting it. It's on a dead body under a bridge. Now getting to that bridge.

Just came out. New Patch Notes

Added new quest phases for the following NPCs: Diallos/ Nepheli Loux/ Kenneth Haight/ Gatekeeper Gostoc. Uh oh.  Just killed that guy last night for his ball bearing.  He didn't seem to do anything otherwise.

Fixed a bug that prevented the user from warping to sites of grace from the map at the end of the game.  Nice.  Somebody mentioned upthread that graces got disabled in the endgame for some reason.  Sounds like that was just a bug maybe.

Fixed a bug with the Ash of War, Determination and Royal Knight’s Resolve, where the damage buff will also apply to other weapons without that skill. I don't have either of these, but I've seen several videos with folks using them to buff their spells.  (Put the ash on a lightweight weapon like a dagger that you carry solely for this purpose; trigger the weapon art to get 10 seconds of buffed damage; switch to your staff and start spamming your strongest spell while the buff is still active.)  Looks like that's done.

Deleted the Ragged armor set from the game which was mistakenly obtainable in previous patch. WTF?

Increased the drop rate of Smithing Stone for some enemies.  Good.  Smithing stones are a little too rare IMO.

Added Smithing Stone to some early game shop line up.  Same.

Increased the damage for all offensive cracked pot items.  I really need to start using these.  I've only ever used one cracked pot, just to see what it would do.  I've wasted the entire crafting mechanic so far.

Reduced FP consumption and increased the damage of the following sorceries: Glintstone Cometshard/ Comet/ Night Comet; Increased the damage of the following sorceries: Gravity Well/ Collapsing Stars/ Crystal Barrage; Decreased FP consumption of the following sorceries: Star Shower/ Rock Blaster/ Gavel of Haima/ Founding Rain of Stars/ Stars of Ruin/Greatblade Phalanx/Magic Downpour/ Loretta’s Greatbow/ Loretta’s Mastery/ Carian Greatsword/ Carian Piercer/ Shard Spiral; Raised projectile speed and range of Great Glintstone Shard So basically they made mages stronger.  I don't even have most of these spells yet, but I don't know that my character really needed more offensive firepower.  I'll take it though.

Decreased weapon skill, Sword of Night and Flame’s damage.  It would be interesting to know if this is a serious nerf or not.  That weapon seems pretty powerful.

Decreased the damage of spirit summoned when using the item Mimic Tear Ash and changed the spirit’s behavior pattern.  I don't have this one yet, but it sounded a little OP.

Didn't really notice much difference on the Sword on my boss fight with Godfrey First Elden Lord this morning it still hits pretty hard.

The Mimic Tear maybe nerfed to much, keep dieing on the 3 trys where I also died. Switch to Lhutel and killed the boss on the first attempt with  Lhutel, Lhutel didn't die.

Well I'm down to the final boss. Tried a couple of times and got wiped out. I'm probably gonna go roam around and finish up some things and come back.

Lhutel seems like an unkillable demi-god in most of my boss fights so far.

Should have done more research into the pvp of this game. Probably going to shelve it now or at least reduce my time playing. Once the nerfing starts for pvp balancing,  it never ends. No longer care to play that game with developers.

Ive been playing a str build and mage. Both are fun but the survivability of STR dude is sweet.

Yeah I tried.    It's just not as much fun running and dying in 2 hits.

I'm actually doing an int/dex.   Moonviel.

Been playing with radahns bow.    Thing kills at range.   You can buy the arrows from the old finger lady at the roundtable

So if you can kill the 2 sentinels guarding the gates on atlas plateau you can get the best shield in the game.   Needs 30 strength to use though

So either I’m getting worse or this game is harder. Ive been fooling around with co-op at Stormveil… There is A LOT going on at this castle. No way I’m ready to tackle it at level 46.

Keep at it.  Stormveil is confusing, and I still don't have a good mental picture of the layout.  But it's actually pretty amazing.  There are several different ways to reach the boss, and the level doesn't just blindly funnel you toward him.  It's easy to get turned around, which is a cool change of pace in this sort of game.  The whole area just feels kind of organic.

Level 46 is definitely enough to get through the mobs.  Pick off the eagles with spells or arrows, because they're really annoying if you let them get into melee range.  Just dash past the knights when you can, and cheese them when you must.  You don't have to engage the giants at all if you don't want to, and you can cheese them if you're so inclined.  There's an NPC summon available for the boss (you need to talk to the NPC in the level, but she's easy to find).  It's really not that bad, although it does seem harder than a normal Souls game at first.

Don't even need to read what comes next.  I took one look at those guys and just hoofed it to the nearest grace.
You can come up behind them and pull them one at a time. Pretty easy.

Edited to add : Pretty easy compared to fighting both.

man they really changed the mimic tear.   sucks
Yeah and really not needed. Mimic Tear doesn't effect PvP. Nerfing PvE stuff in single player is terrible thinking. Who cares if it's OP. They already have our money leave PvE alone. Nerfing for PvP is somewhat understandable but as someone who PvPed alot in my younger days playing WoW it never ends. The players will move to the next OP thing until they nerf that. It never ends. Nerf SoNaF, quess what Comet Azur burns down bosses faster. I guess it will be next.

yeah it kinda sucks to hunt down an item just for them to kill it

and i am telling you there is no way i beat the game a few days ago without the mimic tear.  guess i have to grind out a bunch of levels now

I'm not far enough into the game for any of this stuff to affect me directly, but I agree with you guys.  If I had built my character around being able to use Night & Flame, for example, I'd be pissed that they nerfed it.  Especially considering as how I don't do PvP.

It's also kind of weird that they buffed sorcery but I'll just shut up about that part.

Good thing I hadn't completely changed over so I have plenty of intelligence. I can see where they want you to use more of your toolbox. Yesterday I took down Godfrey with SoNaF after the patch. But later fighting Morgott couldn't do it. Switched to casting Comet Azur. Burned him down in 3 shots. Plus Rotten Breath. Rotten Breath on bosses is a must imo.Use your toolbox.

Completely agree about merging pve stuff. I invested a ton of rare mats to make mimic tear +10 and now it sucks. They gonna refund me those mats? So dumb.

Started a new game plus.   I'm so OP.  I think it might be more fun to just start over

Although it is fun to just destroy these early bosses that originally gave so much trouble

I would imagine new game + eventually gets hard because later bosses will be buffed but with max weapon level what it is and soft caps, you can only make your character a little stronger with levels. No other way to match enemy scaling.

It's not.   New game plus kinda sucks.  Played one hour earlier.   Beat stormviel and the academy.   Didn't die once.

Right. Early on it should be easy because you have your upgraded stuff from your first play through. But by the time you hit end game of NG+, the bosses are upgraded but you haven’t upgraded your character at the same pace.

I did kill Melania before moving to New game plus.  She drops a crazy katana that has a cool move that can destroy if it hits.

I had to respect my dude and make 2 new weapons to beat her.  She might be the hardest boss I have seen from these guys
