*** Official Fatballguys v.6 Weight Loss Jamboree*** (1 Viewer)

Height: 6'

Starting Weight: 182

Goal Weight: 165

MyFitnessPal: Nucker101(just joined)

Started in September and currently at 175. I may be trying to lose too much weight but I'm still young and hated my muscle to fat ratio, wasn't in good shape and definitely had a gut and still do. Basically trying to burn fat and get a bit more tone and definition.

GW 250 this year

Myfitnesspal ID- pizzatyme

Good luck to everyone! Wife and I changed to a plant-based diet and have essentially eliminated dairy, meat, eggs, cheese etc.

Need to get in on this...

Height: 6'

Starting Weight: 215

Goal Weight: 180

Looking to shed 10 pounds a month over the next three months. Started eating better - less sweets, more veggies. Also cut soda out of my diet completely. Wife picked up Insanity workout, so I'm going to kick that off tonight. I've read about MyFitnessPal, so I'll likely sign up for that tonight as well. Anything I can do to get my weight back under control.

I'm in

6'

Staring weight: 216

Goal Weight: 190

MyFitnessPal: mattnv

Dropped from 240 to 200, as low as 190 a few years back, have obviously put a bunch back on, was in around 210 before XMas, so hoping a few come off quickly here at the start.

I'm starting today:

6'3

Start: 206.5

Goal: 185

Did P90X a few years ago and hit 178 which is not sustainable. Haven't worked out in about a year due to the last few months of my wife's pregnancy and our now 9.5 month old (had been at 190ish).

Damn man, didnt you win last year's competition?
I think it was you, me and HateDaBears who were neck and neck in the end. I started last year at 252, my last weigh in was 196 at the beginning of August, proud to say that yesterday i stepped on the scale at 196. Hopefully I can turn that 5 months of not gaining into years of not gaining.Good luck to everyone this year. Myfitnesspal combined with trying to one up each other in here is what really helped me turn things around. Keerock, get the spreadsheet going again, it really helps see the progress you are making.

I will probably play again this year.

Started last year (Jan 1 2012) at 243.8

Got down to as low as 213. Ran AF Half Marathon in 2:25 (8 minutes slower than in 2005 when 10 lbs lighter)

Started out Jan 1 2013 at 223. I get a 20lb head start. Being sick the past 5 days helped me kick the sugar withdrawl at least.

Goal this year is to get down to 180 and break 2 hours. I have a home gym with treadmill, ellpitical and bike, but want to start incorporating some sort of weight/plyo/p90x/insanity-type full body workout training in between, and possibly yoga.

my MFP id is spbjt.

GL everyone

I will try.. have always wanted to, but knew I was not ready. But last year lost about 30 lbs, but have more to go

5-9

320 on 07/30/12

290 on 1/1/13

Goal by end of year: 270

Myfitnesspal ID- ramincol

I'll give this a go.

5'9"

194 this morning. Last year at this time I was pushing 215, got down as low as 179 this past summer.

Goal: 180

FitPal ID: Wrigley70

Will be doing a combination of 4 hour body and Eat Stop Eat(periodic fasting)

I'm in the gym 4-6 days a week, lifting most days.

Wife is a couple weeks away from having our third child(girl #3).....so I'm sure this will take away from my travels to the gym.

Question: does MFP take lifting into account towards your workout goals?

I am the big Loser of the group and not in the right way. Started at 267, lost down to 204 and am now pushing 225 after 2 weeks of xmas break gorging. I suck but I am back.199 by MArch 27th is my goal.

My goal is just to keep the weight off I lost in the last one. Dropped 25% of my body weight and want to make damn sure it stays that way.

Trying to keep weigh-ins for Monday mornings.Today's weigh-in: 211Not too bad for the first week. Looking to keep this going to beat my goal of 10lbs this month. Insanity workout is a beast. I can hardly make it through the second set of exercises and they are talking about beefing up for the third set on the videos. Ugh.

I am doing this too! Will not post my weight but will update my progress! I started early, back in November but took a break for the Holidays, I feel like it will be hard to get back into action.

 Exactly, I don't want to have to lose almost a quarter of my body again.
Does anyone know why MFP doesn't take weight training into account towards your weight lose?
I think you have to put it in as circuit training. Not under weight lifting.
This, don't put it in under the "weigh lifting" section, use the cardio one and pick weight lifting from there. Or something like that. Or just use a different online calorie calculator and enter the calories manually (I think you can do this). Also, when I was doing it, I would try to stay under my calorie goal without the extra calories I "earned" from working out. So I would still try to hit 1400 for the day, and then any running would just take it lower. I had some days were I ended at a net 400 calories or something. Those days would make up for the random over eating at picnics and whatnot. Plus if I was going to work out at night I didn't want to eat more and then end up not working out and be over for the day.

I started a little earlier than New Years. I've lost 10 lbs since Christmas on South Beach.5'9", started at 185, now 175, and my goal is to get below 170. Started doing cardio on the elliptical today and will add in some resistance training as well. Also started taking a more advanced daily vitamin packet. I'll turn 48 this year and I think it hit me that if I don't take better care of myself I might not be around as long as I'd like in order to enjoy my little ones.

Height: 5'11''Weight: 225Goal: Something with a 19 in it. (Not 219)Choles: 190Triglc: 167HDL Ch: 32LDL Ch: 125I'm in and I'm going to need help as I'm a glutton pretty much. I just had my physical yesterday so I thought I'd start from there and include my blood test results, too. I'll be retested in July and I want to show marked improvement.

Might as well track this here too...6'1254 PoundsI have been doing an elliptical for 45 minutes a day for 6 days a week (it says 750 calories) but I must have plateud out as I started gaining weight. I use to be over 300 lbs and then lost a bunch down to 205 (went to diet soda, worked out for the first time ever, and cut back on eating and it just fell off). Unfortunately now I am kind of stuck on what to do seeing as how I still eat decent and work out but am still packing on pounds. I may try a different cardio based workout (Insanity tempered down) instead of the elliptical.Goal: 210 (by the end of summer)Realistic Goal: 225

Are you just doing the elliptical? Is there any resistance training that you are doing? I combine my cardio and weight workout and it really helped me jump start the weight loss. You also say your diet is "Decent" Take a close look at it, log it at mfp and see if that helps.

You hit a plateau because your body has adapted to the elliptical workout. Need to do something different, body needs to continue to be challenged to avoid the plateau.

Something about eating Lean Cuisine for lunch makes me feel like a #####. Bah.
It's not all that great for you either, however. It's convenient and tastes halfway decent depending on what you get. I stock up on them when they are on sale for the convenience factor. Could be worse. The Healthy Choice stuff I find nasty.Quick reviews: Chicken Enchilada Suiza - 4/10 - ok as more of a snack but not substantial at all. The Suiza sauce they put over the Enchilada is unedible but the enchilada itself is decent.Parmesan Crusted Fish - 1/10 - the breading on the fish fuses to the dish when cooking. I tried giving it to my dog and she wouldn't even eat it.Rigatoni and Meatballs - 8/10 - the best thing they have IMO. Meatballs taste better than most frozen meatballs I've had.Ranchero Braised Beef - 7/10 - nice and spicy - good stuff. The mashed chipotle sweet potatoes are smoky and goodSante Fe Rice and Beans - 5/10 - becomes a 6/10 when you had some hot sauce to them. I like this as more of a snack though. Portion is really really smallTeriyaki Chicken - 6/10 - Good for what it is. The chicken is not spongy and processed, at least it doesn't taste that way.

Advice:Trying to shed some pounds myself. Got back into diet soda and now I'm quitting cold turkey again. I HIGHLY recommend Wal-Mart (or whatever grocery store equivalent you have) flavored sparkling water. No sugar, no caffeine, no nothing except deliciousness. Good substitute for soda, IMO.

Here is a great recipe I use for spice bean soup:2 cups vegetable stock2 tbsp of cornstarch (mix these together in the pan before heating or adding other ingredients)2 cans black beans2 cans red beans1 can pinto or northern beans1 can garbonzo beans2-3 cans of Rotel™ diced chiles/ tomatoes (spicy)I med-large chopped onion1 clove of garlicSalt to tasteBring to boil and then let simmer for 30 minutes. I can eat on this all week. Very little calories and extremely healthy plus I love it!!!HTH

Yep. They're flavored waters are money.Actually most of the brands that supermarkets sell of these things are pretty good. They found the correct formular of taste/health somewhere over the past 10 years.

I tried those a while back... they were ok, but I knew it was nothing I would stick to so I just went back to sandwiches and sometimes salad.
If I didn't eat these I would be going out to the deli. I think my main problem is putting myself in bad situations where I lack the will-power to just say no. I might walk into a deli 100% convinced I'll order a turkey sandwich but when the lady behind the counter asks me what I'm getting it's always the same deliciousness... grilled roast beef with extra cheese on an everything bagel...Mmmm...Ughhh so yeah. If I leave the office I WILL eat poorly.

211 This AM, MyFitnessPal won't even show me losing weight because I started it at 205 lbs... thought I was too big then, then proceeded to tack on 15 extra.

You hit a plateau because your body has adapted to the elliptical workout. Need to do something different, body needs to continue to be challenged to avoid the plateau.
You could also try intervals on the elliptical if you haven't to get through the plateau. I have a hard time getting a good workout on bikes and find treadmills really hard on my knees, so I basically stay on the elliptical and have found interval training the best for busting through plateaus.

It's not good for you, nothing about it really. As a general rule anything in a box or a bag isn't, don't shop in the aisles - shop the outer rim and take 15 minutes before the beginning of each week and get some sandwiches ready so they're easy to grab on the way tot he office so you don't have to eat this garbage.

Agreed. I remember when I first tried them when I was a kid in the 90's. Not so good. Think liquid sandpaper.

What if you bring your own sandwich/salad? I really like the Boars Head "Everroast" chicken a lot... good amount of flavor just on its own. I add a couple of claussen dill pickle slices for flavor. Between the bread, meat and pickles it's 215 calories. Toss in a Yoplait strawberry greek yogurt and it keeps me pretty satisfied til dinner. Someone recommended the Yoplait in the myfitnesspal thread... it is REALLY good, and I hated greek yogurt prior to trying it.

6'0" used to be fat guy two years ago when I did this and dropped from 242 pounds.Starting Weight: 179Goal Weight: 170MyFitnessPal: MadshotThe goal is to use a lot more weights this time around because I love cardio. I bought myself some kettle bells and some programs for it. Going to try and go from a small belly to having a good muscle tone. I already started on my own after I was 190 pounds a few months back and that caused me to reexamine my exercise/eating.My main obstacle is working out in the morning and then having a girlfriend that wants to do everything together and complains that I didn't wait till the afternoon to workout. Once it hits noon I have no motivation to workout, it's a morning therapy for me.
