Man I am learning to love the Gustav. It is like a big honkin' Pro Pipe™ with a splash damage radius about 10X that of the 40mm.

9k to all unlocks with Engineer last SMG all that is left.

thats exactly what it is. add improved exp + ex ammo and you are a one man wrecking engineer...

Oh I absolutely have been running with both of those.

Has anyone finished the SP campaign? Wondering if it is even worth it to try. SP would have to be easy if you used the reflexes from MP I would imagine.

i think i might need a break from going for stars. I'm not doing too bad, but i think i need a few days of just dominating. I'll obviously be all about basketball/baseball this weekend, but i'll try to get some quality time in with the M-416. Maybe some late tonight and definitly tomorrow afternoon before tip off.

Done with my gold stars on Assault and Engy. Just the last 3 LMG's to go for Medic. None yet for recon (dont even have all the bronzes yet) and i only have bronze with all the shot guns.

I am curious about loadouts that work for other FBG's.

For me:

Recon generally the Gol, mortar, MP413 pistol, 12X, magnum and choose your vehicle for sniping. Have not done much else though will run with the G3 if it is up close and personal.

Engineer: AKS-74U, Gustav, tracer pistol, explosive boost and ammo

Assault - M416, 40mm nade, RDS, magnum - curious about using body armor, but don't want to give up RDS. Also wondering about explosive boost.

Medic - M60, RDS or 4X depending on map, magnum, pick a pistol.

Is there any unique loadout that has worked for you?

Engineer: I haven't settled on a particular SMG yet, and I'm still a few thousand points away from finishing off this class. Right now I'm using the PUP2000, M1911, explosive boost, and extra explosive ammo. I choose among the CG/AT4/mines based on the map and situation. Mines are probably my favorite because I like running around and suddenly seeing "Vehicle Damage 30 Destroy Vehicle 100 Kill an Enemy 50 Kill an Enemy 50 Double Kill 50" scroll across my screen, and I like knowing that my opponents met their creator without any warning at all. I should use the tracer dart more often but it's something that I just never think about. The scopes are completely wasted on this class since it seems like the extra explosive capacity is such a no-brainer, especially considering how hard it is to find an ammo box.

Medic: XM8 LMG, 4x, magnum ammo, M1911. I play this class way too much, and I've already gotten platinum with the M60 and MG36, so I'm working on the XM8 for now. The MG36 and XM8 are both perfectly viable weapons -- though not as overpowered as the M60 -- and once you hit level 20-something it starts to take forever to rank up so getting the extra 55k for gold/platinum stars is probably worth it. I usually try to avoid CQC with this class so I go with the 4x scope, which makes it easier to provide medium-range supporting fire, at least for me. The RDS is much better if you're trying to hold a nearby choke point, like a stairway or something.

My job for this weekend is to play more Assault. I still don't have the ammo box unlocked.

I've barely touched Recon either, but at least for now it just isn't my style. I'll get to it eventually, because it really does involve a radically different style of play and I'm sure I'll enjoy the change-up, but I'm not there yet.

Medic- At this point, I'm playing the later unlocks for the stars, but the following set up is a no-brainer for me....M60, Red dot, Magnum, .45 caliber pistol, although if the map is a heavy vehicle map, i will go tracer at times. You never run out of ammo with the LMG's, so the extra points you can get for marking vehicles are nice.

Engy- I think i like the AKS, but the UMP and UZI are both very good as well. The AKS is probably my first choice right now. I do need to work on weening myself off the RDS for this class, because the extra explosives are necessary. Switching to iron sights may change my first choice gun. I'll go with Magnum if there arent alot of vehicles on the map. If i die to a tank, i'll re-spawn with the explosive damage upgrade to take it down. .45 caliber pistol

Assault- M-416, red dot, Magnum. .45 caliber. But all the assault guns other than the F2000 have worked fine for me (even the initial one is good with magnum and a red dot). M16 is probably my 2nd choice, but its close with the AUG and maybe even the XM8

Havent played enough recon yet to have a first choice.

Similar to Ajax, I've mostly been doing Medic and Engineer. I do a similar setup to MadCow

Engineer: AKS-74U, Gustav, tracer pistol, 4x, magnum or armor

Medic - M60, 4X depending on map, magnum, pick a pistol.

I haven't found the Red Dot to be that special, or at least, I prefer the 4x as I tend to stay at a distance like a little girl.

I've started to try getting Assault points, but as many here have said, it's frustrating to get killed on this head-to-head battles when you have a pea shooter against a shotgun. I always start a Rush match with good intentions to build Assault, but always finish with Medic as I try to seek revenge and my final points are usually 5:1 in favor of medic.

I figure I'll eventually get the rest of the build over time and frankly, what's the hurry, as I think I'll be playing this for awhile.

I started the single player last night as PS3 required a system update and I was impatient to play. I found it strange that finding ammo on the map was almost distracting in its abundance. I'm wondering why they don't that in MP.

Assault - XM8, AN94, M4, M16 depending on mood. LW for close. 4X for mid-long. smoke/grenade depending on situation. Magnum mostly. roll with the M14 if i want to C4.

Engineer - pretty much a Gun of the Week for me. this week is the XM8 Compact. before that it was teh Scar-L. gadgets depends on situation.

Medic - why even use anything until they nerf the M60? anyway, started on the Type 88 after M60 platinum. mostly roll with LW so i can move.

Recon - GOL mostly. M24 second. Sometimes silenced snipes. mortar mostly. magnum ammo always...

Pistol - M1911. its getting nerf for a reason...

Right now these are my load outs

Assault - XM8m, GRENADE lauhcner either smoke or explosives, extra capacity for grenades and explosives, Magnum or body armor, and I mix up spec 3 all the time.

Engineer - AKS 74U, Mines or an RPG launcher depending on board and situation, Extra Rockets and mines, Magnum, Smoke cover for vehicles or armor or better munitions

Recon - M-95, 45 pistol, 12X, Magnum, Mortor, And I mix up the the 3rd spec.

Medic - Have not played it yet...and will start soon.

So far I love Assault now the best. I play Rush pretty much exclusivley...it is the best mode IMO hands down for well teamed squads.

Will be on tonight around 11PM EST for an all nighter with bglaros.

1000 to all unlocked. Going in in a few.

ETA I rocked almost 3000 in Engineer points by taking a med kit almost right off the bat and healing/reviving like crazy. :bag:

Or not. :lmao:

My schedule at my office went from a few holes to allow some "rec time" to almost overbooked.

:goodposting:

I made the mistake of going from the engineer fully upgraded to a regular assault class. I use the CG as a secondary weapon a lot and for armor support. When I switched to the assault guy with the pro pipe, it weak as hell and harder to aim, not to mention blind fire.

What are the gamer names for you 360 and PS3 players? We can look your stats up as well. Thought I might add you.

Madshot II on xbox 360. Currently a few thousand points away from an-94, which was my money gun in the campaign. Everything else is unlocked.

whats the deal with some few maps for this game at launch? is this par for the course?
Bf2 had a ton of maps at launch (probably close to 15) , but like half of them totally sucked. IMO, the maps in this game (with one or 2 exceptions) are very well designed and bring something unique to the table. Yeah, i wish there were more (and there will be) but i'm still ok with it. I'm not bored of them yet at all. We'll see how i feel a month from now if nothing else is rolled out.I think its tougher to balance maps for this game than it would be for GOW or MW2. There's a lot more moving parts and its on a much larger scale. Add in the fact that the environments are 90% destructible, and i think the number of maps at launch is somewhat understandable. My "Favorite" map changes every day. Right now i'm really digging laguna alta and White pass. Not a big fan of laguna presa or atacama desert at the moment.

loving Laguna Presa for Rush. they should rename it "Flank". so far i enjoy all the Rush maps. Even Nelson Bay(i hated it at first) since its a change of pace from tanks/helis.hate Conquest on Atacama. actually dont enjoy Conquest. alto im enjoying Conquest on Arica.Panama looks like a great map for Rush. the other maps on Conquest havnt tried...cant wait for new maps imo...

I really enjoy Arica and Winter Pass for city fights. Tremendous fun with house to house clearing.

I agree with this 100%. Every single map obviously had a lot of thought poured into it, and all of them give players a good amount of options on how they want to play. I can't comment on the Conquest maps, but the only Rush map I would say I dislike is Isla Inocentes on offense -- there are too few viable approaches to the enemy bases and if your team isn't working together, it's almost impossible to do anything on your own. Otherwise all of them are at least very good. Arica Harbor is epic, and my first impression is that Laguna Presa is too.Seeing as how this game came out a month ago and my eagerness to play is still just as high as when I first unwrapped it, I'd say the developers did a good job.

I never used the Gustav until last night. It is by far cheesier than the pro pipe. I'll be wearing it out

:lmao: This is so true. Granted, I've only played Assault for basically one day (today), but I the pro-pipe requires at least a little skill to use thanks to its trajectory. The CG can be used with deadly accuracy by people who are recovering from severe brain trauma. It's like walking around with a sniper rifle that does insane splash damage. I can't quite wrap my head around the fact that the M60 is getting a nerf but the CG is a-okay.

I love the Gustav. I jumped in for one round with Joe last night. He was assault, I was engineer. We got high ground (the terrace) in Arica conquest and the bombardment began. I would fire, crouch, reload, repeat. I think I singlehandedly demolished 3 buildings and Joe racked up a crapload of squad resupplies, to boot. :useless: There is just something magical about firing a rocket randomly into a building and getting a double kill out of it.

That's because raining death upon people in the form of high-explosives powered by rockets is just plain funny.

I love jumping out of a half exploded building and blind firing the Gustav at someone and then throwing my parachute. I wish I could see their face after I ninja'd them because I know I would be pissed if that happened to me.

Almost as fun is seeing someone speeding by in a boat/chopper/ATV and as a sniper taking a shot, not expecting a thing to happen and getting the kill.

You just know they are swearing and calling you a hacker for making the impossible shot.

One thing I noticed is there are a ton of medics using the XM8 LMG right now. I figured I would try it out and see why. I was truly amazed. I think this is going to be the next big one to be used after the M60 gets nerfed. It has less damage than the M60, but a much higher ROF. The thing that makes it awesome is it has so little recoil. You can unload at someone halfway across the map on full auto and if you have the LMG accuracy, you will probably get 1-2 kills just like that. Very tight precision in the shots. Semi-auto, maybe not so much, but you can go full auto with confidence on the accuracy. It blows through ammo, though, so you do need to reload every few kills, for sure.

Try it now and thank me later. RDS FTW with that one.

i got the gold star with it yesterday. Its very good, but i still think the M60 is better. Of course, i havent used it in a whileI hate sniping. i'm gonna have an absolute bear of a time with those gold stars. thats all.

I'm having the same problem but with the bronze stars. Its not so much getting kills with any weapon, its when I'm sniping or using a shotgun. After a life or two I realize my team needs a medic or engineer and I swap to the class forgetting about trying to get kills with whichever weapon. There always seems to be a shortage of engineer on my teams.

The M60 is definitely better than the XM8 LMG, but I think the XM8 is a pretty clear second-best for medics. I'm finding it to be way better than the MG36 and MG3. Depending on how much the M60 gets nerfed, you have to figure the XM8 will become the new go-to weapon.

I'm understanding why so many people play assault now. In the demo, I didn't get it. Assault guys seemed like just regular soldiers, like engineers and medics, except they couldn't shoot rockets and couldn't revive people. Now that I've played it for a while, it makes sense. ARs seem to start firing much faster than other weapons, especially LMGs. As a medic, I used to lose one-on-one confrontations almost all the time to assaults, and I think it's because LMGs just don't get bullets out of the barrel as fast as ARs. I'm winning most confrontations with medics now, even when going against the M60. I feel way more confident in battle now than I did before, and I haven't even unlocked any of the good ARs yet (still rolling with the XM8/RDS). Can't wait to open up the AN.

I wish if a sniper doesn't fire his mortar every 2 minutes then it would shoot itself at his camping spot. Also, how hard is it for someone to hear a sniper shot and glance at their map to see if a team member is around. The madden awareness level of the regular sniper in BC2 must be like an 8.

Suprised there are so many knife kills.I very rarely stab anyone.
The amount of knife stabbings in BC2 is directly proportional to how many crappy snipers there are.
 When I'm playing with random teammates and I find myself in an unbalanced game with a worthless squad, I'll usually go sniper-hunting. Between those guys and the people who think they're invincible while they're operating the UAV terminal, that's probably 75% of my knife kills.

This happens to me every once in a while, particulary if I get dropped from the EA servers mid-game. Just exit the game and restart, and everything should be there.

Anything exciting happen with the PC group this weekend? I have a new quad core Phenom arriving today to boost my office gaming today.
