not sure if i'm gonna go through the trouble for the PC beta. if all you guys are playing and you can set up a friends list, i may get it. otherwise, i'll just wait for release.
I guess I agree. This game will be here for years. I can wait another month. My wife and I are going away at least one weekend in February anyway.
plus, i'm sure it will be the same map, which i've already played to death (its good though). If the Beta was a diferent map and/or diferent game mode, i'd be in for sure.I'll probably upgrade my PC in late february right before release. I'm thinking a new vid card and possibly an SSD.
I keep scouring Toms and Anandtech for news of an NVidia card, and nothing. It seems that ATI wins for now. Gonna start looking at options now. Might go dual 5770's as well - same price as a 5850 and a little better in some.

Same here. It's time to start looking to upgrade the rig. I need the whole lot. My Dell Dimension 4500 :excited: is really suckin'.
i'm pretty much bottlenecked with my processor (Q6600) because my MB doesn't support any newer stuff. i dont see the benefit of more than 4 gigs of RAM. So all i can really upgrade is the vid card and Hard drive. Maybe i'll do a semi-full rebuild like a year from now (MB, Processor and RAM) if i can't get decent performance on the newer games. Is the performance of the newer processors (I5 or I7) really any better? would i even notice a diference?

I went from a Q6600 with 4 GB RAM to an i5 with 4 GB RAM and an SSD. HUUUUUUUUUGGGGGEEEE improvement, IMO.

Honestly, I have not played many games at all on this rig. Well, I take that back. I have played some MW2 and more BF2, but BF2 is not exactly a resource strainer at this point. I can say that I can reboot Windows and be in a match playing BF2 in about 1 minute with my current rig, which is fairly impressive, IMO.

I went from a dual core and an 8800GT with 4GB of RAM to i5, SSD, 8GB RAM and the 5850. It's a huge difference and the SSD is money. However I had some problems with sound in game (Left 4 Dead specifically) for some reason that I was never able to figure out. I installed a sound card and that seems to have done the trick. The best part of the new build is the SSD.

well obviously that jump in Vid card and HD would make a diference. But i'm not convinced that there are too many games out there (if any) that can't run at full settings with the Q6600 (if vid card and HD are top of the line).really looking forward to the SSD though.

I'd like to try an SSD but I loathe reinstalling the OS only because I don't understand Microsoft's activation rules. Or do you put the game files on the SSD?Signed,Confused in Canton

I picked up a SSD but only have my OS on it right now. Thing is a beast. I'm still playing on my dual core 8800 gt system works great with l4d2.

If you're eager to ensure you get in the two confirmed distributors to Pre-Order are the EA Store and at GameStop.com. We'll have another Blog at a later date with an update on the retailers & e-Tailers that have teamed up with us as well as alternate channels to obtain a Closed Beta Key.
Sounds like GameStop.com is fine - I preordered through there, but choose in-store pickup for delivery. Oh, and I don't think I'll have an issue running it, but just to verify - i7 720 w/4GB ram and a 4870 1GB vid card should be fine, correct? Very similar to the system Shawn has, I believe.

Yeah pretty sure you are just bragging here :DMy brother pre-ordered for me for Christmas through Amazon, wonder if they'll work. Also, I'm still tooling along on my old box: C2D, 4 GB RAM, and the good old 8800GT. Plays L4D2 just fine. Played Crysis great. Gotsa feeling it's not gonna work for the new BF.

its been posted on totalbf2. I cant go there from work, but feel free to check it out.The specs arent absurd. It's a fairly taxing engine due to the destruction, but the fairly small player limits probably save it a litle bt.

Thank you for this. I was unable to find it anywhere. I'm seriously thinking about getting this game either on release or by the end of March.

Bragging..nah..not really...well, maybe a little - I really like my machine. I am going to have to wipe/reinstall Win7 soon, I'm still tooling along on the RC version, even though I have a release copy just waiting to be installed. Haven't wanted to wipe everything but will likely do so pretty soon just to get it over with.(side note - I wouldn't have the system if I had waited one more day to order the parts either - literally dropped the order in at Newegg, and it was the next day at work I found out they were shutting it down. Talk about buyer's remorse for a bit. It all worked out, but I was sweating the $$ I spent for a bit.)

Sup Maelstrom! How's Gladden these days? The new content any good? GLFF still about the same as the FFA on a Friday?

Same ol stuff - kinda quiet for a few days due to a few of the more vocal guys getting banned for beating the new raid with exploits and bragging about it on the forums. I think they got 7 days. Dunno really though, I'm only usually on Tuesdays with some Mon/Wed thrown in...maybe some late nights other days, but mostly just 1-2 days a week.

they announced the final game mode. Its squad rush, which is exactly what it sounds like (infantry only 4 vs 4 on a small rush map). It'll be good for the competitive guys, but its not really Battlefield.

So we've got rush mode, conquest, squad rush and the 4 vs 4 vs 4 vs 4 squad death match. all game modes can be played in hardcore mode as well (limited HUD and increased weapon damage, which is unnecessary IMO)

6 weeks and counting baby

Pre-order for BF:BC2 is now available on Steam. Includes early Beta and 6 in game unlocks when game goes live.

Pre-ordering now :boxing:
I don't think Steam is going to get you the Beta key. According to the link below, GameStop.com and the EA store are the only Beta options for the PC. Although I see Direct2Drive is an option for the UK and I don't see why you couldn't use that.Link

Yeah I see that now. Wonder why other sites are not reporting that. I'll get it through Steam if I can, I like not having to keep up with DVDs.
