***OFFICIAL*** FBG All things BATTLEFIELD Thread (5 Viewers)

any thoughts on graphic card purchases? How long should i wait to order? Is the 5850 still the best bet? (from everything i can gather from Tom's Hardware, it appears that it is)

current rig.....

Processor

Case

Power Supply

Plus a 750 GB WD digital HD (7200 RPM) and an 8800GT.

Yes, I'm aware that newegg doesnt sell ANY of my parts (other than the vid card and HD) anymore. Its still humming along without problems though. Hopefully a vid card upgrade will be enough to run Bc2 at pretty high settings. I dont have the desire or cash to go for a full rebuild right now.

I think I am gonna stick with my 260 GTX for now and wait for the NVIdia release in another 1-2 months and either let prices fall on the 5850 to get it, or get the new NVidia offering. I got my cash back from Gamestop today, as well, so I am GTG on the Steam download.

Yeah, going to do Steam too, I guess, just makes it easier.
 
Since it seems to be the cool thing to do, I'm ordering through Steam as well...I'll cancel my GameStop pickup order tomorrow. Besides I'm a little concerned I haven't seen any communication from GameStop regarding the beta.

i read a blog post from Gordon Van Dyke (lead producer) on tuesday and it looks like 12PM EST. I left steam running on my computer at home. But i'm guessing it wont automatically DL it or anything. That would be sweet if it was ready when i get home. :lmao:

Ok, so when i created my STEAM id on friday night/saturday morning, i was little "out of it".

As a result, i accidently made it my last name followed by my first name. (example SmithJoe).

As a result, i'd prefer not to post it on here (about to start a job search and dont want a google search leading to here)

So please post your steam ID's here and i'll send friend invites. How does steam work anyway? can we directly join eachother's games right from our steam friends list. I'm sure the beta itself wont have buddy list capabilities.

i remember when the Bf2 Beta/demo came out. It was complete insanity. I spent like 9 hours trying to download it (thank god i was in college and it was summer).

I am hoping I can get it all here at my office, then go home, login my Steam there and restart the whole DL dealio there and have it up and running by tomorrow night.

I could've sworn you already had a Steam ID. But anyway, you can change your display name at any time. Just not your login name. I accidentally made it my old email address way back when Steam started up. :confused:

i think i did, but i think it was an ID that linked to an old email address 3 or 4 years ago.This is the first game i've ordered on Steam other than when i got nostailgic and ordered Team Fortress.

While you can't change your account name (like I said, mine is my old email address), you can change the contact email address it's assigned to, so that if something goes wrong, you'll have information sent to that email address. It's one of the options in the Account tab when you click on Settings.There's just absolutely no way I'd want some of my games on one account and others on another.

Yes we need TS so if we have multiple fbg squads we can chat. Extra advantage.

I had a free TS server for awhile, will have to find it.

The problem with TS servers is that they went way up in price a couple of years ago. I had that one TS server, then the company I had it with canceled my account and upped their rates. Went from like $2-3 a month to $8+. Ridiculous. There are a few free community ones you can find out there. I can look into prices again and report back, though.
