I had a problem with that as well. I posted this fix earlier, it worked for me.I have issues with Steam and BF:BC2Game won't load, says it needs to update game but won't download anything new. Deleted all game files and it still won't download.
Gonna have to check some forums when I have some time :(
If you can't launch the game, go into your account tab in Steam and select "Steam beta" where it reads "Opt out of Beta"
its a beta. stuff happens.i wish that friendly fire was on. i would shoot every sniper on that stupid rock when i get stuck on a sniper-heavy attacking side.
But you wouldn't shoot me, would you, TLEF?
starting over, but if you pre-order the limited edition, you get 5 unlocks for free. i believe its the tracer pistol, the .45 caliber pistol, the advanced optics for tanks, the Thompson and i forget what the last one is.edit: the Thompson is very good at short range, but useless otherwise. You cant put the red dot scope on it either, which sucks because the iron sight is like 9 inches wide. Will Beta unlocks carry over to the real game or will everyone start over?
I gotta tell ya, I was knocking the bad guys down like crazy last round. Headshot after headshot, not to mention I was spotting like crazy. I think if you are gonna snipe, fine, but you bet spot your ### off.Best moment by far was headshotting the guy using that shielded stationary MG at the first base.depends on whether we're winning or losing. also depends on if you're capable of actually hitting people with that rifle.
There were about 3-4 guys that kept spawning in that same structure that I kept dropping like crazy. Slower run speeds =
  sniping.

Yeah, I saw that post and I did that before even trying to get the game to work. Still nothingI had a problem with that as well. its actually 6 unlocks-tracer- 45-Thompson- improved armor- vehicle motion sensors- improved firepower (including a machine gun for the driver, like in Bf2)the nice thing is i believe the vehicle bonuses are combinable, so the driver can equip one bonus and the gunner another and you get the benefit of bothHeavier armor.starting over, but if you pre-order the limited edition, you get 5 unlocks for free. i believe its the tracer pistol, the .45 caliber pistol, the advanced optics for tanks, the Thompson and i forget what the last one is.edit: the Thompson is very good at short range, but useless otherwise. Yes, that is super awesome.as mentioned previously, i headshotted a guy coming down in a parachute over the weekend. it was awesome.

Any experience if the rolling caravans work in BC2? i.e. both drivers are engineers and can heal all vehicles around them? I have not been in a vehicle hardly at all so do not know.its actually 6 unlocks-tracer- 45-Thompson- improved armor- vehicle motion sensors- improved firepower (including a machine gun for the driver, like in Bf2)the nice thing is i believe the vehicle bonuses are combinable, so the driver can equip one bonus and the gunner another and you get the benefit of bothHeavier armor.starting over, but if you pre-order the limited edition, you get 5 unlocks for free. i believe its the tracer pistol, the .45 caliber pistol, the advanced optics for tanks, the Thompson and i forget what the last one is.edit: the Thompson is very good at short range, but useless otherwise. In my limited play, I can't figure out how to heal at all. As far as I can tell, there is no health bar so I'm not sure what the first aid pack does.TLEF316 said:as far as i can tell, you have to get out to repair.
you dont heal next to a vehicle that has a medic in it either. (again, as far as i've seen)
you self heal once you stop getting hit. The med pac will speed up that healing. There are upgraded health packs that increase the speed and zone of influence for the med packs.Obviously there's no health bar, but as you get hit, your screen gets redder and more dificult to see. That type of thing is all the rage in shooters now a days.In my limited play, I can't figure out how to heal at all. I was in dire need of a medpack once, and a medic ran up to me and dropped a medpack. I tried running over it and thought that would pick it up, but it didn't.In my limited play, I can't figure out how to heal at all. I haven't had problems with ammopacks though. If you go PC, you are guaranteed about 6-8 FBG's that will play regularly and have a lot of experience playing together. I mean, who hasn't been shot in the back by Maelstrom, right? Or seen Corp just go hog-wild on the medic whoring?Hmm, well typically my gaming interests are right on par with TLEF and MadCow. Decision for now is: Do I go 360 so I can play with a few of my buds? Or PC? I can't IMAGINE playing BF2 on my 360... I'm kinda leaning that way for BC2. MW2 I can't imagine on the PC, but feels perfect for the 360...

Doh! Sonuva. . .Assault has the ammo box. you get it right from the start

i cant believe some of the medic nonsense that corp pulls. its like that scene in Band of Brothers where Lt. Spears runs right past 50 enemy troops to link up with another company on the other side of the village."At first the MEC didnt even shoot at Corp. I guess they couldnt believe what they were seeing. But what was even more amazing...was that after he revived Gator Shawn....he came back" :cueinspirationalmusic:

its good for the game.Prone was a nightmare in Bf2. every moron on the planet would hit the deck the second a shot was fired at them. it was cartoonish. I dont even miss it. (except when im trying to hide from tanks) i was always more of a croucherNot being able to go prone is beyond stupid. But I like the game from what I've played so far.
I am OK with no prone as long as they make crouch toggle. I am going to sue DICE for carpal tunnel in about 4 weeks if I have to hold that button down.its good for the game.Prone was a nightmare in Bf2. every moron on the planet would hit the deck the second a shot was fired at them. it was cartoonish. You might consider upgrading from that buggy-powered GPU man. I think that is the problem.Steam, BF:BC2 and my computer definitely do not get along. At home over lunch Steam caused a BSOD twice
Uninstalled Steam, rebooted, reinstalled Steam and now am downloading BF:BC2 beta again.
Will try again later tonight

Well, then it should be allowed for snipers then. And wouldn't most people hit the deck if someone was shooting at them? I don't see why that's a problem.its good for the game.Prone was a nightmare in Bf2. every moron on the planet would hit the deck the second a shot was fired at them. it was cartoonish. you had to have played to understand.certain players would go to ground EVERY SINGLE time they were shot at. it didnt matter if they were out in the open, 10 feet from cover, on a roof. they just hit the dirt. In real life, people dont dive on the ground when someone shoots them from 5 feet away. But in Bf2, they did, and got rewarded for it. Plus, there was no delay or penalty during the transition. you hit the Z button and you were instantly on the ground with perfect accuracy. (or at least as good as accuracy got in BF2).Plus, if you hit z while moving left or right, it would trigger a rolling animation that everyone looking at you would see (making you harder to hit). However, you still saw perfect (your screen didnt flip even though the guy shooting at you would see you doing a barrel roll). And of course, there was dolphin diving. Guys figured out how to go prone in mid air. Some even figured out how to jump back and forth (left to right) while going prone in mid-air on every jump.Well, then it should be allowed for snipers then. And wouldn't most people hit the deck if someone was shooting at them?
