i was absolutely on fire last night. Spent most of my time running with the AN-94 (to the tune of at least a 2.5-1 K/D ratio over the course of the night) and spent some time specifically going for marksmanship headshots with the GOL. Got like 20 last night, so i only need like 48 more to get the award (100 total)

The AN-94 is very overpowered. There's no recoil. Its crazy. It takes a couple bursts to drop someone, but the clip is large enough that you can really do damage to a squad. taking out 3 or 4 guys isnt that dificult if you can drop the first 2 before they see you. (even at relativly close range)

The M60 is still a beast. When you get hit by it, its like you're getting hit by a truck. If the person using it is even average at this game, there's no reason they should lose a 1 on 1 duel (barring a very lucky 1 shot kill).

I did? :thumbup:

Dude, my freinds list is jacked. I send requests and people dont get them and they send me requests and I dont get them. Try to freind me next time you are on and I will see if I get it. :lmao:

Got this game about two weeks ago. What game type will help me rank up the quickest? At level 7 right now and playing both Engineer and Sniper.

Probably Rush because the rounds generally last longer than Conquest.The scoring is the same, but since the rounds last longer, you'll be able to earn more pins (4 grenade kills in a round, 7 assault rifle kills in a round, ect). And if your biggest goal is to rank up quickly, Medic is your best bet. Play until you unlock the M60 and start unleasing overpowered hell.

Starting to get kind of burned out on this game, which I guess isn't surprising singe I've been playing it exclusively for over two months. And that doesn't even count the PS3 demo, which I sunk another 20 hours into. I'm also finding that I get more and more annoyed with little things about this game that used to not bug me that much, such as:

1) Broken console matchmaking. If you play in the morning or at night, it's almost impossible to get placed into a full game. Instead, every game is 8-8 or 6-6. I can't understand for the life of me why they don't combine games so they fill first, and then open up new games. And of course there's just no excuse for not being able to choose which game you join.

2) Glitches that still aren't fixed two months after release. Has anybody ever successfully defended the second A base on Isla since people figured out how to knife it? Is it really that hard to patch the "Get All Bronze Stars" insignia so it's actually not impossible?

3) The same six Rush maps over and over and over and over again. Each map is nice and obviously had lots of time poured into it, but six maps isnt' really enough either. I suppose I could play TDM/Conquest, but I prefer objective-based play.

4) Preposterously lopsided games. I would guess that maybe 10% of the games I drop in on are more or less balanced. The other 90% are complete mismatches. Unfortunately, this problem is probably unfixable since there's no way to stop a squad of good, miced-up players from steamrolling a team of uncoordinated randoms. Still, it's not a lot of fun to be defending Valdez and have the first two crates go down while the attackers still had 65 tickets remaining.

I have about 80K more points to go before I make Captain, and then I should probably take a break for a while.

i've been getting a tad bored with the game as well. I play both Rush and Conquest, but i really wish holding flags in conquest actually meant something. For the most part, it doesnt.

Actual game play has gotten a ton better since the patch (people actually use guns now) but playing as a lone wolf just isnt all that fun.

We need more maps in a big way.

This is really the key thing. I have lots of fun playing with people on my friends list who use mics. Even if we lose, it's still enjoyable because you feel like you can coordinate your attack/defense in an intelligent way. Playing as just some random guy on a team of unknowns is totally different and not nearly as much fun because there just isn't all that much that you can do in this game by yourself.Edit: Of course, that's sort of the point, and criticizing BC2 for this is kind of like blaming your cat for not being a dog. Sometimes, though, it would be nice to be able to log on, drop into a random game, and feel productive instead of just camping a choke point or making near-suicidal solo runs on MCOMs.

I've only played single player mode so far because I'm too :unsure: to join a game as a noob by myself. I was hoping there would be some structured FBG team games.

The unfortunate thing is there is ZERO reason to defend a flag on conquest. There arent any strategically important flags (even the flags on atacama where the tanks spawn arent essential) and the flags are too close together.

In Bf2, certain flags spawned 3 or more pieces of important equipment (either tanks, choppers or commander assets) so you absolutely couldnt afford to lose them. If you did, it was basically game over.

In Bc2, you can lose a flag and pretty much take it right back once the squad that took it gets bored and moves on.

Overall, DiCE did a good job not dumbing down the actual game play (shooting mechanics) in this game (like most console shooters do) but the flow of game play is not really battlefield like. Conquest is musical flags, and the ticket bleed isnt fast enough to justify playing defense. The ability to squad hop and spawn on any squad member also makes defense a mostly fruitless task. In Bf2, you could only spawn on your squad leader. Also, you couldnt hop to a new squad while you were dead in the later versions.

It needs some tweaking, and i think we'll get a more strategic team-wide experience in what is hopefully a PC only Battlefield 3.

new maps indeed...

i still cant grasp how few maps were originally released. look at Gears/MW2....maps galore

to be fair, those maps are significantly smaller and less complex (no destruction). Plus they dont have to take vehicles or teritorial balance into account. They're just pretty looking killing arenas.

dunno, i would think map-making would be one of the easier tasks...

Compared to balancing 40+ weapons, creating a game engine, doing all teh graphics/animation/phsyics, i'd agree.But its still not easy. Very small things (how often a vehicle respawns, placement of cover, distance between flags) can unbalance a map to the point where its completely unplayable. Its less of an issue in BC2 (again, because the maps are smaller than Bf2 maps and conquest game play has been wrongly tweaked) but its still an issue.

Yeah, one thing I'll say in Dice's defense is that they did a really good job on the maps they released. Each Rush map is very large by console FPS standards, and every single one of them is extremely well-balanced. I guess you could argue that some of them are too linear and have too many choke points that give the defenders an advantage, but it's not like there are any where attacking is impossible. They also did a great job of making sure that you can't camp anywhere with impunity. I'm not sure there's a single spot on any of the Rush maps where a defender can sit without being exposed in at least one direction or without having to worry about his cover being destroyed.

For example, consider the three-story construction building on the first base in Valdez (just to pick one example that everybody's familiar with). At first glance, you might think this is totally unfair since it allows the defenders to look down into B and to cover the most obvious routes into the base, but you learn really fast that if you want to shoot someone/something from that building, you have about 2 seconds after you stop to aim and get your shot off before you get picked off by a sniper or tank. You can use that building for defense, but you have to be really judicious in what you choose to do while you're in there.

When you consider how many opportunitites they had to screw up the in-game balance by messing up some feature of the maps, the developers did a really good job.

I am now the proud owner of an AR-15. This one in fact

I inquired about the possibility of a Pro Pipe™ attachment but they said they were all out at the moment. I will be sure to check back later.

Any of my other BF bruthas own some of these assault weapons? I have to admit, it is pretty darn cool. :)

I am excited to go out and shoot things now. So now when I ##### in the in-game chat about physics and gun mechanics, I can increase my doushbagitude by saying, "Well, I OWN one of those and it does NOT behave that way."

Very illegal in NJ. I've actually never shot a real gun. Been thinking about going to a range and squeezing off some rounds for a while now.

No desire to actually own one.

That is semi-auto, TLEF. I think the only state with problems with these is Cali.

My advantage is my wife grew up with her dad and brothers all being hunters and having guns around a lot. Now, none of them have owned an assault rifle before, but it was a lot easier. :D FWIW I have some nice iron sights. Guess I better start shooting so I can unlock the RDS and ACOG. ;)

its my understanding that add ons like the the stock and that style of pistol grip still=assault rifle.

Yeah, it is an assault rifle, but not fully automatic.

still a no-no i think. The NJ attorney general interprets the following......

A. semi-automatic rifle that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least 2 of the following:

a folding or telescoping stock;

a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon;

a bayonet mount;

a flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor; and

a grenade launcher;

I think your weapon would qualify since it has a telescoping stock and the pistol grip.

I gotta think you've got a threaded barrel that can accommodate a flash suppressor as well.

Yep, I do have 3 of the 5. :rant:

I just checked. I have a bayonet lug, as well. :rant: Man, I am at 4/5, might as well go for 5/5. :wall:

Still waiting for the 360 to release its patch. M$ takes its time to test anything and then it usually still has all the known problem that were found out before testing, why not just release it earlier.

What's this patch for? Haven't played in a few weeks.
The PC guys would know better since they have been using it for a few weeks now. I believe it reduces the damage of the M60 and accuracy of LMGs at distance. It ups the damage on a few ARs and decreases damage on the M16. It reduces the splash damage on the grenade launcher for the assault class and the CG for engineers. The addition I am waiting for is that the tracer gun shoots its darts four times as fast as it is now. Thus, choppers become much more balanced as they can be tagged with homing much easier.

I thought this was already out for the 360. Wasn't there an update a few weeks ago? I even thought I noticed some of those things the last time I played. :bag:

That update was to add the Dr. Pepper dlc gear and achievements that are not yet certified by M$. So, once again it added stuff that is waiting to reviewed forever and then not changed.

Has the update that significantly shortened the horn on Conquest been applied on consoles? I still see people complaining about the horn and it hasn't been an issue for PC players for awhile now.

Fixing the knifing is also good. Not sure why they screwed that one up. Hopefully they made the right tweaks this time in terms of weapons balance.

I'll be busting my ### to get my An-94 platinum star this weekend.

The only bummer here is no note about fixing the stats recognition for the Garand.

This is a good one. I hate to think about how many points I've missed out on from stuff like arming an MCOM and dying while defending it, having people roll over my mines while dead, people healing from my medpacks while I'm dead, etc.

No update yet for that i believe. M$ takes forever to "test" and then not change anything. They might have changed it, but I know nobody who plays conquest. Myself and everyone on the 360 who are FBGs play rush. Conquest turns into TDM, which there are other games that are much better for that. I wish they made it so the capture points bleed tickets faster so there would be a point to holding them.

No wonder, I knew something was up with the knifing. Why the crap would they disable knifing from behind in the first place. Also glad to hear about getting the points when you are dead.

I wish they would add if you are revived it doesn't count as a death for you.

Right. I've died a bunch of times after I stab somebody and they just turn around and shoot me.

Moobin, the knifing in the 360 works fine. They haven't introduced the patch yet that caused the problem on PC. I find the knifing in BC2 takes skill compared to other games and the process has to be learned more than just auto-kill. It took me about 10-15 hours before I got the hang of the knifing.
