not entirely sure about spawn, but there is absolutely revive invulnerability.

The most recent patch changed it a bit, but as long as all you do is look around (no moving, firing, zooming, crouching, ect) you can absolutely eat bullets for at least the first 2 seconds after someone revives you.

I absolutely hate when i down a guy in the open and see some medic charging after his body. If he gets to him, I know I'm screwed, because i can never stop myself from firing at the invincible revivee. He'll eat the first 10 bullets and kill me when i reload. It's just instinct. Can't help myself.

been playing quite a bit lately because I lost interest in NCAA football 11. (and don't like FIFA this year). I still think this is a great game and I'm really looking forward to the maps. My complaints are mostly unchanged. My biggest issue is with the spawning mechanic. - I absolutely hate how enemies can spawn on a guy who is under fire. Its so frustrating when I put a guy down with the end of my clip only to see a squad mate spawn in and finish me off. IMO, you should have to go 5 seconds without taking damage before a teammate can spawn on you. - If they aren't going to do that, they should re-institute the squad leader mechanic from Bf2/2142. The ability to spawn on any squad mate (or even squad hop while you are dead so you can spawn on any person on your team) makes it too difficult to defend a flag and hold ground. Other than the size/layout of the maps, this is the biggest contributing factor to the "musical flags" that conquest mode has become. - and finally, they absolutely MUST get rid of ALL invulnerability that players get when they either spawn or are revived (unless you spawn at your main, uncapable base). It makes no sense to reward players for diving into a fire fight to revive someone that has no business being revived. (**Cough** CORP **Cough**) It also makes no sense to reward the revivee for either taking his eyes off the screen or taking advantage of this unfair mechanic. (I've actually started doing this purposely, not moving when I'm revived so that the guy shooting me empties his clip). I also wish they would go back to the BF2 standard of not counting a death until you actually re-spawn (as opposed to now, when you get credit for a death even if someone revives you). Of course, that's just me being a K/D ratio whore. O yeah, this is TLEF by the way. on a one week time out due to calling my genitals Coach Vermeil's first name.edit: and yeah, i saw you MC. That team were were on was god awful. I played on that server quite a bit this afternoon and my team was always disgracefully bad. The other team wasn't good either (most of my rounds were 2/1 K/D, usually 3/1) but my teammates just couldn't do anything.
I saw you playing today and almost jumped in. I haven't played since June. NCAA and Madden have had most of my time. NCAA was good, Madden was not.

Just reacquired BC2 and picked up Onslaught mode. Anyone still play this on 360? My gamertag is "M a d s h o t". After playing a few shooters since the peak of this game, I have come to realize the quality that this game posses. Also, glad to see a update was release a few months back and another is coming out soon with 4 brand new maps for free and 4 more maps in the Vietnam expansion that will cost money.
I still have this. Never did the Onslaught thing because no one else was still playing on 360. This is still a great game - just needed new maps. When do they come out?

I (may) be all over this.

Still no word on a release date for new maps or Vietnam. Looks like some additional tweaking is coming tonight as a prelude...

Multiplayer Update 3 for Bad Company 2 -- PS3 tonight, other formats to follow

As the title suggests, there is an update for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 coming for the PS3 platform, and it contains multiple changes to the game. This update is also in preparation for our upcoming VIP Map Pack 7 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam, which explains the size of it.

We are working hard on getting these fixes out for both PC and Xbox 360 as well, so in the coming days, look for updates on those platforms as well.

Sometime tomorrow the update will be deployed and will be downloadable for everyone starting up their PS3. PS3 players might encounter some temporary outages or suffer from lag during the server updates (between GMT 00:01 2010-11-24 and GMT 00:01 2010-11-25).

Here is a complete list of all the fixes in this update:

- Acog and Red dot scope now equippable on MK-14 and G3.

- Fixed a bug on PC where the G3 would do less damage than intended.

- Reduced VADS push back and damage to balance it with the ZU23.

- Fixed a bug where Vehicle Countermeasures would fail to remove tracer darts at high speed.

- Reduced the reload time for Vehicle Countermeasures.

- Slightly increased the AT4's damage vs armor to emphasize its anti vehicle role while keeping it balanced vs armor.

- Increased the AT4’s top speed and acceleration so users spend less time exposed when firing.

- Increased the AT4's splash damage so it competes with other AT weapons vs infantry. The AT4 still has the least splash damage of all AT weapons.

- Reduced the splash damage of the Carl Gustav to bring it in line with other explosive weapons. The Carl Gustav still has the most splash damage of all AT weapons.

- Increased the 1 shot kill range of the M95 body shot to counter its lower rate of fire.

- Fixed a bug with the SVU that gave it better close range damage than other semi auto weapons.

- Reduced all weapon damage to the MCOM by 50%.

- Fixed a C4 vs MCOM exploit on Atacama Desert.

- Fixed a bug with FOV when aiming the M1911.

- Lowered the close range damage of the AN94 to highlight its long range role.

- Increased the accuracy of the F2000 on the move to highlight its role as a mobile AR.

- Increased the close range damage of the shotguns to give them a greater advantage vs slugs.

- Slightly lowered the damage of the M60 to balance its accuracy advantage vs other LMGs.

- Slightly lowered the damage of the MG3 at close range to balance it with other high rate of fire weapons.

- Slightly increased the damage of the UH6

I like the reduction in weapon damage to MCOM, but since I frequently use the M60, this other tweak is a downer.

For some reason I thought that patch had already been release.

In the past, they specifically said no scopes for the g3 and m14. (Balance purposes) so this is a total 180 on that issue.

Good to see that the g3 is getting a bump. I tried it this weekend (looking for a new weapon to get my platinum star) and its total garbage

And you know what else? The civilian G3 is complete garbage compared to the other AR's readily available, as well. ;)

VIP Map Pack 7 with the 4 free maps ported from Bad Company is scheduled to release tomorrow. December 21 specifically, the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam expansion arrives. Actually, for PC gamers it arrives earlier on December 18.

SPECACT kits are also available on PC. I might have to buy them ($5.50) just for the confusion factor. I probably died 10 times in the last hour or so just because I didn't know what team a guy was on.

Psyched for new maps tomorrow.

Where are the SPECACT kits available to purchase from?
i think they're at the EA store. you can only use them with certain guns...Medic- MG3recon- M95Assault- M16Engineer- UMP 45.If you don't want to use these guns, no point buying the content. the medic kit throws you for a loop when you're playing against the russians (since you're used to seeing the red beret). Assault and Engy are both confusing as well (plus both guns are very good). Sniper is pretty pointless.

I am using the M16 pretty much exclusively as Assault now, since it is just the same as my AR-15. The M16 is full-auto, but I have more "perks" than are allowed in game attached to my gun. :ptts:

Played a round of Rush on Harvest Day and Oasis this afternoon. Harvest Rush was pretty good. I thought it provided good balance, although there's quite a bit of open space to have to cross to attack from.

Oasis I didn't care for at all. WAY too many obstructions and close quarters. I spawned quite a few times in places that only offered one exit from or required me to chop through several fences. Just too much junk cluttering up the map. I have a feeling that RPGs will be big for attackers on this map and shotguns will be big too for both sides.

Also. Switching controls back to BC2 after playing Black Ops was tough. Ended up crouching instead of knifing a few times. :goodposting:

Wow, Heavy Metal is HUGE! If you aren't in a squad and spawn with no vehicles near you, you won't see any action for a while.

Cold War is awesome though. Probably my favorite new map. Although if you're attacking, I could definitely see it being possible to get stuck getting gunned down just parachuting down by a good team on the first set of M-COMs.

played all the maps except for Cold War on Conquest......

Oasis- Lots of fun, IMO. It's basically gonna be the new Karkand/Jallalabad. Lots of hiding places for infantry and its just wide enough to avoid choke point grenade spamming. My only complaint is that its a little too flat. (needs some 2 and 3 story buildings or just some elevated areas). Very fun map though

Heavy Metal- I get why they put it in. The game didn't have enough maps for people that like big vehicle battles (which is what the franchise was built on). But this map is very 1 dimensional. Unless you are in a tank or chopper (or are a sniper) you might as well just quit. There are MASSIVE hilly areas with a million hiding spots for snipers to hide. I actually used the 4X score on a gun for the first time ever because it was the only way i stood a chance. Even so, A good sniper will have an absolute field day if anyone is silly enough to try to advance on the middle flag without vehicle support. The area around B is decent size and has potential for a decent close quarter fighting, but there are just SO many little buildings that its pretty much total luck as to whether you make it around the next corner. (and of course, you're dealing with chopper fire raining down, Tanks blasting away and snipers). Some will enjoy it, but I'll probably quit when my server hits this map (I already have my platinum star for Tanks and I cant fly choppers)

Harvest Day- I like this one a little better. Its technically a decent sized map, but at least 40% of the area is totally useless, as its just empty space between the spawns and the 4 flags (which are in a diamond in the middle) I like the layout of the main fighting area(plenty of cover with trees and a sunken river type thing) and there is room for flanking maneuvers. The issue with this (like most Bc2 conquest maps) is that its going to be a game of musical flags. They're pretty close together, impossible to dig in and defend (due to the destructible buildings) and there's really no benefit to doing so (since it looks like vehicles spawn everywhere). As long as one of the teams isn't the worst team ever, it will be impossible to hold all 4 flags for any decent amount of time. So we'll all just run back and forth between them turning it into team deathmatch

Lots of people on the Steam forums saying that the conquest versions are very poorly designed. Apparently Oasis becomes a severe and nearly impossible bottleneck for the attackers and Harvest day requires the attackers to go right through where the defenders spawn to get to the MCOM's.

Overall, the maps are ok, but not great. Oasis is great though. Easily a top 3 map in the game. (IMO, Panama Canal and White Pass conquest are the best maps). They've definetly added some life to the game, but i hope the offerings in Vietnam are a little better.

Played Harvest Day and Cold War on Rush last night.

Really liked Cold War - the condensed area makes for a lot of intense action with little sniping or vehicles. The brute force nature of it may make it get old quicker, but for a fresh map, this was a lot of fun.

Harvest Day matches can last a long time, but I thought the map has a good balance of cover, vehicles.

I wish there was a way of playing in matches with just the new maps. I noticed that after Harvest Day, the next map was Isla Innocentes and that match lasted about 2 minutes since most of the people bailed to start a new game in a new map.

Ya know, PC peeps? I have always gotten the best value cards for my gaming, and I am sitting on a rather large sum in my paypal account right now. I want to see what BC2 looks like pimped. I think I am gonna drop for a 5970 or maybe the 6950/70/90 that will be announced in another week or so. Kinda  but a lot :goodposting: and you bet a crapload of :lmao:

Hmmm, scratch that. I am gonna go with 6870's in Crossfire with Eyefinity in 3 28" LCD's for pure :D goodness. Once it is approved and up and running, I will so take a photo and share. :blackdot:

Current LCD but it is deactivated, so I guess I will just add 2 of these:

28" LCD or maybe save a bit of $ and get 2 of these 27" LCD's for the side. I need to look up Eyefinity req's.
Does this mean you play the game on a screen less than 30" now?
PC, yes. 28". My LCD for the 360 is 52".
It seems like you prefer playing games on the PC over the 360, no? Are the controls that much better? I prefer lounging on the couch and playing on a big screen TV.

depends on the game. For FPS, the mouse/keyboard combo is so much better it isn't even funny. There's a reason that every console shooter as some sort of auto-aiming type help. You need it because you just can't be that accurate with a controller. Honestly, the rise of the console FPS game is really hurting the PC versions. (Probably the reason that the knife is a 1 button insta-kill instead of a selectable weapon in bad company 2)

Other than FPS and RTS games, I like the controller/couch combo better. Even 3rd person shooters like gears of war are better with the controller.

Agreed on all counts. FPS and RTS, and well RPG's = PC.

Fair enough. I was just curious. I'm not one to pass judgment either - about half the time I'm playing while walking on a treadmill!

Consider I have a nice computer chair that is very comfortable and play at a higher resolution than you get on a TV, and sit a lot closer, and you actually get an overall much bigger picture.I am curious if any other FBG's are running an eyefinity setup?

BTW - The 28" Hanns is the monitor I got a few months back when it was $279 (with free shipping, no rebate), and I really, really like it. I think it's worth the extra $$ to go from the 1080 to 1200 pixels vertically, and you might need to match it to your current monitor. Of course, I wasn't thinking of 2 of them. But I would highly recommend it, literally no issues with it to date.

I am now sitting here at my 28" HannsG and given the size of my desk, I don't think I could fit 3 of these in eyefinity together. Gonna have to see what I can work out.

If I push the screen all the way to the wall, I still don't know if it would work. I do know that the wife would give me a crapload of  and :hot: though.

OK, I am wondering about using my "old" 26" LCD I have at my office and going 3X1 with that one, now :towelwave:

Found the Eyefinity FAQ:
Can I support different resolutions?

All monitors running in a Display Group or cloned modes must be running with the same resolution. If monitors have different native resolutions, the highest common non-native resolution between the monitors will be used when creating Display Groups. Monitors running in extended desktop mode can have independent resolutions.
LinkyHmm...

Traditional extended and cloned display modes are all still available, but with AMD Eyefinity technology, if the displays can support the same resolutions then they can also be stitched together into a "single large surface" or "Display Group" (as described by the AMD Catalyst Control Center™ software). When a Display Group is created, it appears to the operating system and application as a single monitor with a very large resolution.
I'm guessing for the best gaming goodness, you'll want to create a display group, but for that you'll need identical resolutions or go with the lowest common denominator.

Yeah I had seen that. I think what it comes down to is either getting 2 more of these 28" or 2 more 26" and pair them with a like monitor. Motherboard supports Crossfire, so what it comes down to is adding another 5850, going XFire with 2 6870's, or maybe a 5970.

I played for the first time in 6 months. New maps (to me anyway). Lots of fun (was running with TeaLeaf).
yeah, good games. even Heavy Metal wasn't that bad. (being in the chopper is very fun. its like god mode on that map as long as you don't go near the AA guns). Hopefully we'll be able to get some larger scale games together soon. Found out this morning that i fractured my right hand (tried to steal a basketball from someone far larger than I) so i may have some issues playing in the next month or so (not sure if they're gonna cast me or not) and if anyone wants to make an obvious masturbation joke, feel free......

Well, at least your hand isn't broken so unlike TLEF you'll still have a sex life after your wife finds out....

Getting back into this game, new maps and soon Vietnam. I am really digging the M-14 now as well as my G-3 with a 4X scope (sweet).

I'm getting back into it as well, because someone won't play their NCAA game :2cents:TLEF and I played several times today. I'm going after all the bronze weapons now, just snipers left. I hate sniping.

My 2 new 28" LCD's arrived today. I should have the complete Eyefinity set up by tomorrow night.
