Now, to be fair, I haven't played any console shooter in several years....

But I am straight horrible at this game on the Xbox one. I could play better on the PC with my feet.

YouTube that, I want proof of the foot play.

Aaaand EA is down again. I was in a pistol server and went like 40-20 with a billion ribbons. If that is lot, someone is gonna be :hot:

Finally getting to see what all you console people were complaining about in terms of the interface. It really is very tough to jump into a game with friends. And the menus are really buggy. 1/2 the time my brother joined a game, the menu didn't recognize it.

Starting to have some respectable games on the Xbox 1. Just got my first MVP. There are a few things I've learned.....

1) Doing better with the higher damage, lower recoil weapons. I find I do alot better if I only have to hit the enemy 3 or 4 times instead of 6. Digging the SCAR right now.

2) I can't do well in Rush. My only advantage on the console is that I know all the maps and can aggressively flank. That goes away if everyone is funneled into the little areas for rush. Since my stick skills are worse than 85-90% of console players, I need to use positioning to get the jump on them. In a 1 on 1 fire fight on equal ground, I'm going to lose at least 75% of the time. Conquest gives me a much better chance.

I love double xp events. I played a hardcore pistol round last night, went 67-41, and earned all but the last two handguns. I played in my WWTLEFD mode and had a ball. Hardcore is an interesting way to play, hated it at first, grew to love it when I embraced its strategies. Almost got two levels with all the ribbons and medals.

Has anyone used their xp boosts during events? Is it just insane what you earn?

I haven't seen anyone on much at nights lately. Where have you all been?
Been having really intermittent Internet issues, probably a wiring problem inside and being a cheap-### I'm trying to figure it out myself rather than pay Comcast to come fix it. I can browse but online video and gaming has been really hit or miss. Sometimes it works fine. Othertimes it's up and down every 5 minutes.

And I finally remembered there is a splitter in my office just before the cable modem - all 3 cables were loose. Because the problem is intermittent, I won't know for a little while if that is the solution, but it seems really promising, as my modem immediately went to all blue (good) lights.

Ugh...I wish I had remembered this sooner - been working perfect since I tightened everything, after bad Internet off/on for something like 2-3 weeks. I dug through the wiring in the basement ceiling, all over. Ah well, at least it ended up being something simple, even if I feel dumb for not thinking of it sooner.

I think the battlelog friend activity tracker is crap. It doesn't always register and id friends that are playing.

Played a good bit over the holidays (xbox360) and finally was able to start killing more then dying. A few things that helped me:

1) The MP7. Immediately start winning "face-offs" whereas I was losing them prior to using the MP7.I guess because of the rate of fire (950/1000) and hip fire (99/100) numbers, it plays well into my run-and-gun style

2) The SCAR-H for Assault. High damage helped me out I think. Although I just unlocked the ACE23 and I think it may supplant the SCAR-H as my favorite assault gun, once I get some more attachments unlocked.

3) Tanks: Swapped to the Heavy Machine Gun as secondary weapon, and I have done much better on those pesky infantry, which in turn of course allows you to survive longer in the tank. Also learned to use the Active Protection properly and retreat while it recharges if you don't get the kill against another heavy armor.

My best round so far was on Flood Zone, where I hopped in the LAV and proceeded to go 20-2. I destroyed 4 or 5 enemy LAVs and a few RHIB boats, plus many foot soldiers. I think this was my best BF round evah.

on XB360 at least, it seems they've solved most of the freeze-up problems. Except for on Dawnbreaker. That MFer freezes up on me every time. I thought it was only while in vehicles, but I've had it freeze up after not having touched a vehicle as well, so I'm not sure what the deal is. It has happened with and without the levolution being triggered. Anyone else having trouble with Dawnbreaker?

The only remaining bugs I've noticed is on several maps (Golmud Railway, I know for sure) if you spawn in a tank at the beginning. You either have no sound for about 30 seconds, or the damn tank jumps around and makes noise that sounds like you are caught in an earthquake for about 15-20 seconds. (It's the noise that you hear if someone in another tank/vehicle runs into you)

I get the no sound at the beginning of alot of my matches. Dawnbreaker is also where I get the most freezes. But I did have one on Seige of Shanghai the other night.

I'm slowly getting better (Xbox One). I almost exclusively play Conquest - and have to use 'server browser' to get on Conquest maps. If I try using quick match it doesn't let me on, or sends me to deathmatch or other map types (f'n Dice).

I've found myself mostly playing as an Engineer. Shooting down helicopters is really, really enjoyable.

I'm playing on XBoxOne. I'm really, really bad.

id = culdeus

The game itself is great, I'm just horrid. The single player is just room clearing and a total bore.

Didn't realize this one had such a following here. 255 pages is a #### ton.

last week's patch (XB360) seemed to not really affect anything, best I can tell

Dawnbreaker still freezes (although I did get through one round prior to the patch...glitch I guess, because that's 1 out of about a dozen attempts)

Spawning in a tank at the start of a match still has issues

Still getting tradekills.

The opponent's health meter on kill screen is still jacked up. It often shows zero (when they're still alive) or 100 (after I just got at least 3 or 4 hit markers on them)

Everyone see the Player Appreciation month coming in February? A free battlepack each day you log in. They are unlocking all grenades and handguns for everyone, and all PDW's and shotguns for premium members. More stuff, but that was my take away. 2 Double XP weekends if you are premium, 1 if not.

Sweet!

Any word if they are going to have an exclusive MaxThreshold Appreciation Month? That would be epic.

After riding on that boat like MacArthur returning to the Philipines when you were marked as an HVT, I would hope we see one of those.

Seems like they're finally starting to understand how much trouble the franchise is in.

The only way I'll actually feel appreciated though is if they either fix all the issues that still exist on the PS3/PS4 version or send Emily Ratajkowski over to my house.

I still enjoy the series very much and will continue to play it.

But these silly little "player appreciation" offerings are just stupid. They took absolutely no effort and don't affect the company bottom line at all.

If they really wanted to show some actual good faith, they'd start dropping free map packs on a monthly basis. Hell....would 2 maps a month be that much to ask? I don't think so. If you have a few small teams working on them in a staggered fashion, it would be no problem.

Hell, I'd even pay. If you offered me 2 maps a month for 10 bucks, I'd probably pay every time.

I really enjoy this game. But its really sad that what could have been a triple A game is not because of the rush to get the game out in 2013. A little more time polishing this game would have made it infinitely more enjoyable. When Dawnbreaker comes up in the rotation its a disappointment for me because I know that the likelihood of making it through the entire match is not good. I enjoy most of the maps, could live without Operation Locker, but it isnt a terrible map.

I hope they keep working to fix the stability issues with the game.

Got my 2 battlepacks for playing a round today. No word on when the shortcuts officially drop. I was hoping to try some shotties and DMR's.

If you have a later AMD card, definitely upgrade to the 14.1 beta drivers. My FPS has gone up 10-15 points (granted limited test so far). Considering switching to Ultra to test it out there, but where I was consistently getting 60FPS with occasional dips into the 50s and spikes towards 70, in my test tonight after installing the drivers I was now locked at 70 (have it rate limited there) all the time.

So I believe that this coming weekend will be a 2XP weekend. With that, I plan on getting as many weapons to 1 short of a service star as possible, as well as the assault/support/engineer there. Then comes the weekend, pop a 200% booster, and see exactly how much I can go up in one round. :nerd:

I played some this weekend (PS4) and it said there was a double XP event going on at the time. Of course they weren't actually awarding double XP, but they said they were. Freaking DICE can't even do their half-assed player appreciation event right.

So, do other FBG's feel similarly about the ACE 23 CQB? I know I love the ACE 52 CQB as the carbine.
Wow - I can't wait to try it out. I have to see if it's unlocked for me.
I've been mainly using the SCAR-H for assault. I'm going to try out the ACE 23 and see how it compares. SCAR-H has been my top weapon to date.
SCAR-H is awesome, but I do like the ACE 52 CQB more. It is a monster.

So, I now have 4 weapons within 1 kill for the next service star. Now to see if I can get a few more. I figure I can get the SCAR and U-100 there easily enough, maybe the 23 CQB.

I was driving this morning and saw a helicopter flying across the horizon a few hundred meters out. I thought to myself "he's almost within range of my stinger"

I think I need to take a break from this game.

So has the 360 version been updated changed since launch? I have almost relapsed and I really want to play some Battlefield but just didn't enjoy BF4. :scared:

I am redacting my recommendation. I have reverted to the latest 13.x drivers - I'm hoping the BSOD I was experiencing (not in-game, oddly enough, but rather when doing relative mundane things like streaming video from Vimeo or YouTube) was due to the 14.1 drivers or the updates to Catalyst. I'll wait for the official release.

I really like a lot of stuff they did with the recent patch. The netcode seems a ton better to me (very few kill trades and a lot less dying behind walls). They still need to balance some of the vehicles (every time I see some clown in the AA clearing the skies from the corner of the map, I cringe) but they made some nice weapon changes. DMR's are now a very viable choice for the skilled shooter. They're really fun and satisfying to play. (they upped the damage to make them a 3 shot kill and lowered the recoil) I've been using them on the engy class.

I'm about ready for new maps though, and unfortunately, the only ones that are coming soon are 2nd assault. Just doesn't do it for me.

Hey now TLEF, when I jumped in your server for a round yesterday, I was rocking the AA to immense satisfaction and pVVn4g3. :)

I wish more servers ran Guilin Peak. That's a really fun map for infantry that doesn't lock you into butting heads like Locker.
