Someone needs to go back and give WW2 a modern facelift. Prop planes and Garands would bring joy to my soul.

Once my favorite game, BF4 has soured me on the series. I won't be getting cops at launch.
Totally agree. Cops will have to get outstanding reviews and be mostly bug free for me to even think of getting it.

Yeah, I don't find the cops and robbers theme interesting at all. Just doesn't do it for me and I think the more interesting game modes will require WAY more teamwork that you'll ever get from a random group of pub players.

Bf4's launch was probably the worst in history but its still a very fun game. I don't really get the hate. Its very balanced and I enjoy it. I still play at least a couple of times a week.

My son and I play here and there and have joined Maelstrom a few times in mumble. It's fun for what it is.

Looks like the next Battlefield is going to be cops vs robbers. Not sure if I'm really excited about that.
I seriously had to keep double checking to see if that was fake. It sounds horrible. That will surely be the last nail in the coffin for Battlefield.
If I didn't get that bit of news direct from the Battlefield Twitter itself, I would've thought it was fake. In case there was any doubt, Battlefield has jumped the megalodon.

Maybe instead of cops/robbers it is Counter-terrorism/Terrorists, with a Rainbow 6 type slant. That could be interesting. Certainly more so than cops/robbers.

Hardline looks fun. Why such a huge departure from military based game?
They're going to a yearly release schedule. Dice will probably continue to work on "core" battlefield games while the other studio makes other genre games like this one.

I like fast paced urban combat, but I'm not at all encouraged by some of the stuff I've seen/heard on youtube. Apparently one of the items you can unlock is a device that lets you revive yourself. Who seriously decided that was a good idea? UGH>

I was on the fence after reading some articles, but XFactor on Youtube posted a gameplay video yesterday and they did some things with it that I thought should have been done all along, such as the way the in-round perks work, etc. The "Revive yourself" was one of these perks, I believe. You equip that as your perk, then as long as you don't get shot in the head, you pull out an epi-pen and inject yourself and come back to life. XFactor did this a couple of times and shot his killer in the back because they weren't expecting it.

Ok just making sure. I don't understand how anyone other than a 13 year old who never wants to die would think this is a good idea.

Terrible decision.

After a couple of games of Hardline beta I can honestly say that I'm pleasantly surprised. It plays much better than Battlefield 4. I'm getting consistently above 60 FPS on highest settings. The new play mode is something I'll have to get used to, though. I'm honestly a little lost as to what needs to be done, objective wise. I hope some of you guys try it out with me. It would be nice to get in a squad not filled with randoms.

Downloading it right now. Should have it ready to go in a bit.

Where do we get this beta?
You have to sign up for it thru origin. When I logged in I got a dialog with a link right away. Signed up last night, JUST got the confirmation email like 10 minutes ago and it was magically in my game library.

I played a bunch of rounds with Slax tonight and I have to say I was actually having fun. It's not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Game play was real smooth for me and I did not experience any glitches at all. Definitely feels like a Battlefield game but nothing new or revolutionary so far.

Both modes - Heist and Blood Money - play a lot like CTF.

Heist simply designates criminals with taking a bag of loot to their vault and police trying to prevent that.

Blood Money tasks both teams to grab as much loot from 3 stashes of cash placed throughout the city and take it back to their vault (and you can steal money from the opposing teams vault too). The team with the most money at the end wins

I'll be on again tomorrow night playing more rounds.

How many players in a match?
32 for these game types. It seems to fit. It's odd to have a Battlefield game without any sort of tanks.
So 16 robbers? I could see mobilizing a large police response, but having 16 coordinated robbers seems unusual.

I signed up for beta so will give it a shot.
That's what I said too when I heard about it. No way you could get 16 criminals to be on the same page. So I guess that actually fits a Battlefield game.

Also it makes no sense for the police to be stealing money on the other game mode. Crooked cops.

Battlefield Hardline looks interesting. Dont know if I'll pick it up. But I watched a couple of rounds that ShoSho played on Youtube last night. Looks good, seems pretty smooth. I liked his use of the Taser but I think it should incapacitate the victim a little longer. He was trolling people with it. Also dont know why you cant beat someone with the baton. I'm more interested in DICE and their work on Battlefront.

First impressions of Hardline...

Well, my very first impression was "#### this ####. I can't hit a ### #### thing". Turns out the first gun I tried (M16) came with a heavy barrel attached. It was kicking like a freaking mule. Once I got that off of there, I was back in the groove. M16 is ok but I think the G36C is pretty beastly. I was tearing it up with that beast.

The unlock system is a little confusing. You have to buy stuff with cash, but in order to buy certain attachments you have to have a set number of service stars with the weapon. I'm getting used to it, but it was confusing at first.

I've only played the assault class so far. I have the $$$ to unlock the absurd "revivalist" perk, but I refuse to do so out of principle. I honestly think its a ridiculous game breaking mechanic and I really hope it doesn't make it into the final game. Unfortunately, that's probably a pipe dream. It also totally discourages teamwork, as I'm sure everyone will just choose that rather than the syringe to revive their teammates. What a horrible design decision. Scary bad.

The game mode seems fun. It takes a little while longer than I'd like to pick up cash, and you run slow when you're carrying a bunch of it, but that's fine.

I'll keep playing, but I'm not blown away so far. The gun play is smoother, but this is basically a re-skin with some new game modes.

I think players are starting to get wise to it. It still feels a bit overpowered, but not as much. Thankfully, you only get one.

Looks like today's update to Hardline has broken my game. When I try to play it tells me I need to download the update, which tries to download and when it sees it already downloaded, says it's ready to play... then I try to play and the above repeats itself.

edit: uninstalling and re-downloading to see if this fixes it.

edit 2: won't launch Battlelog still, but if I go to the site myself, it looks like I can get into a game. At least I'm in the queue, so we'll see.

Played a few rounds with SlaX and Maelstrom last night. Interesting concept, not sure how big a fan I am. I was just running around trying to roadkill/gun down people since I had no idea what the objective was. The CoD 13 yr old crowd is definitely playing this Beta in droves, though, it would seem.

Same here, not really sold, the objectives in heist mode where a bit nebulus definitely. Plus it's definitely weird to have cops and robbers carrying around rocket launchers and some of the other standard BF gear. Although I can see some cool play coming out of the gadgets, stuff like Ziplines and grappling hooks make areas not readily available reachable. Course, in the end, that just means your getting shot from places you never saw coming. Of any BF game, this felt the most frantic to me (even compared to like TeamDM), and I don't believe that's just because it's "new" and I don't know the maps yet. The mechanics feels much the same (maybe a little tweak to gravity, bullet drop didn't seem as big a factor in sniping). But so many times I was killed with no idea I was even in danger yet (and yes, that happens a lot to me, but felt way more than normal, and I think my K/D from the other night can attest to that).

So I'm getting back into BF4 and haven't learned much about the battle packs. Are they one time use stuff? And say like how I just got a red dot scope from one, is it only usable on one weapon or multiple?

Each battle pack can be opened once, but the items within are basically unlocks. Just random.

Also, has the dlc been worth the premium cost? Is there a way to pre setup classes?
I like some of the DLC, but at this stage of the game you may want to watch for a sale. You can manage all of your class setups through Battlelog.

The DLC has been a mixed bag.

China Rising (2 good maps, 2 sort of bad ones)

1 fun infantry focused map (although it does suffer from musical flags syndrome)

1 fun bigger map with vehicles (guillin peaks)

2 larger vehicle-based maps where infantry are mostly useless. Not really my speed.

2nd assault (I've made my argument about how lazy it is to "re-Make" maps that we've already been playing for past 2 years many times)

Operation Metro remake- worst and most damaging BF map of all time

A ruined Gulf of Oman- sandstorm is pretty lame IMO)

Caspian Border with a big wall down the middle- which doesn't improve the map IMO

Fire Storm- again, the changes are mostly cosmetic. A couple of smaller tweaks that are positive (skylights in the roofs of some of the buildings cuts down on camping)

Naval Strike (pretty solid)

All 4 maps are pretty good. 2 are mostly infantry focused, and the other 2 are kind of a mixed bag. Very good expansion pack.

So overall, we've gotten 8 new maps and 4 "remakes". Of the 8 new ones, I really like 6 of them and don't really like the other 2. Of the remakes, one is a joke (Metro), 1 got worse (Oman) and the other 2 stayed pretty much the same.

Dragon's teeth is gonna be all city maps, so I have high hopes. No word on the last pack yet.

If you don't play a ton, I wouldn't spend the $50 on it. Wait till it goes on sale.

Agree. Not a fan. Won't be buying.
I admit that I really enjoyed it the first couple of days, but after that it felt way too much like more of the same, only more chaotic. I was still having some fun and I may eventually pick it up, but I definitely won't buy it for anything more than half price. I'm strongly considering skipping it all together, though. A big part of me thinks I won't miss it.

Yah, it is kinda fun, but it doesn't really feel like a Battlefield game to me. I'm probably just gonna keep playing BF4 for my BF fix.

I'll admit, I had fun when I played it but I like BF4 so much better. I'd just rather not get distracted.
