Yep, no dating as of late for me, so wouldn't be much of a storyteller here. Not that I'm against it in any way, but even in my non-cohabitated single days (2007-2009) I never tried out the internet dating scene.If(WHEN) I'm single again, I'll definitely give it a shot if nothing more than to add some nonsense to this thread.I'd be lieing if I said I didn't miss the hunt and miscellaneous random strange.

No, Facebook is pretty much still just for bragging and complaining.As people have pointed out and I speak from experience -- Match.com is still the way to go.

OK about two months ago was in Dallas and went out with cousin and a friend of his. This friend showed me a photo of a super hot Asian chick (this guy had been out of the game for ever and just now got a divorce) and asked him where did he meet her. He said that he's been on practically every dating website and this was the best, called sugardaddie.com so immediately I said wait are you her SD? He said no and while many are looking for that many aren't, they are just sick of meeting bums off match.com. Naturally I had to try. I've met 5 chicks on that site so far and yes had to weed through a bunch who e-mailed me wanting me to give them $ but you can delete them. Met one white, 2 Asian, black and Latin chick. All very hot and most are into older men, then again two were in their early 30s. Best by far was an Asian chick (fake rack and a few tats) who lived in San Antonio and would drive up to me every other week. I should have nicknamed her three input. She would drive in and we would go out for drinks and or eat, come back have fun until the middle of the night, sleep, then have some morning fun before she had to leave. This was during the end of the week before weekend and was perfect.Check out the site and while I am about to move on to something else fairly soon I am pretty sure that initially you'll love it. I didn't it as a joke thinking no way will anything happen but turned out she was a really cool chick and occasionally we get together and have fun. WTF takes their kids with them on a first date??

Had a date with Jill tonight. We had agreed to have some dinner/drinks and watch the game as she is a big sports fan. I had emailed her and said "Hey lets get together at Applebees for dinner and a few drinks and watch the game". She emailed me back and said "Yah, I'm free, that sounds great!" No mention of kids...perhaps I should have clarified

I had a work function nearby so I was there a little early and had a beer at the bar. 7 comes and goes. I get a call from her saying she's running a bit late but would be there shortly. No big deal, I'm chatting it up with 2 girls who were out for happy hour drinks after work themselves. Next thing I know, I get a tap on my shoulder and hear "Matt?"

I turn and see Jill and right behind her are her 2 kids . I honestly didnt know what to say. I said in my most uncomfortable voice "Uh, Jill? Heeeeyy...uh and they are??" She introduces me to "Little Johnny" and "Little Suzy". She then pulls up the chair next to me and the kids are just standing there looking at me like I just killed their dad. I get up and offer my chair to one of the kids and she says "No, they're ok". I hear the 2 other girls sort of giggle and then they got up and left shortly after that.

Im completely dumbfounded at this piont. But I honestly couldn't bring myself to just get up and leave. We get a table, order dinner and I'm just squirming with discomfort as she works with the kids to figure out what they're gonna order. Finally once her attention is away from her kids, she begins to talk to me. The conversation was entirely about little Johnny and little Suzys first week at school. I ended up talking to the kids more than I talked to her I think. Not one mention from her of "I'm really sorry, I couldnt get a sitter" or "They had to come at the last minute because of <excuse>"...like this is standard operating procedure for her.

Finally dinner comes, I've been paying most of my attention to the TV as the breaks in conversation were getting farther apart. I'm doing my best to ask her questions but I kept getting interuped by "Johnny stop it" and "Suzy, take 2 more bites". Luckily after dinner, she paid for her and her kids.

It was the most awkward date I've ever been on in my life. After the bill was paid, I politely excused myself and said I had to get going. I shook her hand and said it was a pleasure to meet her and booked.

Do people seriously do this???? I'm completely shuked.

Definitely not a 5 unless I've just been lucky with chicks so far in life. I even thought at one point something was wrong with my e-mail so I threw a few out to some of the girls who weren't that great looking and nothing until a few days later then a really hot girl that I had contacted e-mailed me back. She really liked the fact that I lived in NYC as did she, blah blah blah and said "I hope you write me back" so I did and...NO REPLY?!?!lolThat said today a girl wrote me a few times and things look interesting but it's early.

Anyway, I think I'm past that now, as the woman I'm seeing tonight is not one I would normally see. She's 45. Again... I'm 35, and in my search listings, I was searching for 28-36. This one found me. She's an attractive, thin, blonde - and everyone I talked to told me to just do it...So I am.

Headed out for dinner/drinks tonight. No idea what to expect. 1st real date in years - and considering I was with my wife for 6 years before we were married, there weren't a whole lot of real dates before that.

This is your main problem. Just enjoy the ride and have fun. Meet some new people, get out of the house, get some occasional new nookie and build your porftolio of good life stories and lessons on the bad dates. Better yet, get in the mindset that you don't really want or need anything to turn serious and that's usually when it just kind of happens naturally.

Backstory: Married 12 years. Technically still am... but the wife has been out for a year now, and we're just waiting on the lawyers to make things official.

Got on match and POF - saw a lot of duplicates on both sites. I'm not sure if it's me not being ready to get back in, or what, but I constantly was turning them down. Like I couldn't see myself in a 'long-term relationship', so why bother going out?

Anyway, I think I'm past that now, as the woman I'm seeing tonight is not one I would normally see. She's 45. Again... I'm 35, and in my search listings, I was searching for 28-36. This one found me. She's an attractive, thin, blonde - and everyone I talked to told me to just do it...So I am.

What's the proper way to 'say hello' when we first meet. Handshake? Half-hug? Kiss on the cheek?

Worth it, right?Meet as many girls as possible, so you'll stop being nervous. It helps.

You should also widen your age range imo. You might be surprised how many girls are interested in older guys. And there are some older chicks who have really taken care of themselves. I'm 35 and have a 22-39 range. YMMV.

Exactly. That's the plan! I have turned down a few when I told them I was not looking for anything too serious right off the bat. Figured they'd either be gone, or say no problem - they're just looking to date as well.

Quick hug is the way to go. Handshake is too business and friend-like. Kiss on the cheek could instantly creep a chick out and ruin the date immediately. Do not kiss her hand. Ever.
