Nah. Growing up around alcoholics, being one myself, and from my time at AA, this is pretty much for what you say when pressed about it.

OK...would it be terrible of me to join eHarmony again just to have stories to share here? I guess I know the answer to that. But really, reading all this just makes it sound very amusing and fun, and I did enjoy it before. I just don't really want to date anyone, which I guess should be a gating item for joining a dating site. What if I didn't lead anyone on and just had fun, maybe even met people and saw what happened? I mean, theoretically, someone could come along who just blows me away, though the chances of that are infinitesimal. But it seems like I could have fun and share with the FFA anyway.

Fair enough. But I wasn't ready to break the rules for that guy...could have (he continued to pursue for quite a while and was apologetic about the psycho episode) but didn't. You're right, though--I guess I do find "dating" to be fun, but I have no interest in a relationship. And with me, there seems to be no casual dating--things seem to get all Wozzy serious really fast even if that's not what I want. So I would prefer to avoid dating altogether just to avoid the seemingly inevitable relationship part of it. That said, I love meeting new people if I can just keep them at arm's length.

FWIW, this is essentially what I'm doing. The online process entertains me, and I enjoy meeting people. But since I'm not really looking for a relationship, I lose interest fast and move on to the next iGirl. And like you said, if someone just blew me away I could see getting serious (or semi-serious at least).
