Guy pitched for 24 years! Won a Cy Young ( ) and an MVP as a closer! Was virtually unhittable during 5 year span in the late 80's/early nineties. Hall of famer.I think he's one of those rare players who was available who will actually help me in the vote AND the sim. In his prime, IMO the best closer of all-time. I mean Craig ####### Biggio gets taken, and Dennis Eckersley get's flamed?

I don't think it was necessarily a bad pick (at all really)..I'm just saying I don't think he was the most dominant closer in history. I'd like to get into it more, but players are still out there. btw, Biggio was a solid pick there.

I liked the section from James' on Biggio (fan of his stuff or not, I thought this was telling)..in 1997 Biggio was hit by 34 pitches and grounded into ZERO double plays..only the 5th player in history to play a full season without grounding into a double play.

the HBP were the second-highest of the 20th century.

as James goes into, those are "little stats", such as sac hits, flies, and intentional walks that don't get any publicity since they don't go into the box scores.

Biggio, according to James, has the best "little stats" of any player in baseball history, which is why he says Biggio is so underrated.

I liked the pick, would've considered him myself.

Ok, I will settle the debate once and forall.FFA, who is better, ARod or Arky Vaughn. Cause SURELY the FFA will take both into proper consideration. Many experts say Arky had the career Arod is "in the middle of" - but has not yet finished. Experts might be 60/40 in favor of either Arky or Arod (im just guessing but thats a fair range). Id put money it is at least 4:1 ration against Arky in the FFA.

Because we dont want this to become a for sim only, look at the third year stats and "that" will judge on its own who has the be st team.Having both a vote and public forum, PLUS a sim, gives everyone something to shoot for, regardless whether you go obscure older players, or known quantities, or even modern plays that just make our cutoff with 11 years experience.

Nips, go check out his stats. For a catcher, and then a top defensive 2nd baseman, he is very very good. Prototypical #2 hitter and a gold glove.

just haven't got a chance to take any older players yet..few I wanted got selected, and a few others weren't good value where I was picking (or there were players I wanted more).check the NBA draft..Bill Sharman, Bob Cousy, Paul Arizin, George Mikan were all on my team..I had more 'older' players than anybody in that league.

I think the sim is the closest we'll ever get to a decisive result.far more interesting to me as well, but it all takes a backseat to the actual draft, and debating players and their worth.
