Larry - they're better. The fact of the matter is you're probably a young guy who doesn't know the majority of these players. That's ok, the real issue is you stick your foot in your mouth when you try and compare Quantrill to two of the top relievers ever. It just makes you look foolish.

I didn't say Quantrill was actually better...I said statistically the argument could be made, and he does look better in a lot of ways...you guys are biased for 3 reasons:1. he isn't a starter2. he isn't a closer3. he's modernso you devalue him... plain and simple...

BTW, I think that Eck and Fingers are overrated.  Fingers more than Eck, but both are more revered for changing the role of relievers than what they did on the field.

That said, Quantrill isn't anything special, but he's probably underappreciated.  It actually wasn't that bad of a pick to be honest.

Listen, if you want to come in here with an original opinion, I'm all for it. But when you just recite some line from a book like it's fact, you add nothing to the discussion and I think you should be penalized in some way for that.

Larry, I'm not in this league or anything so I don't know how the sim stuff works, but Quantrill's career WHIP is 1.41. That's pretty awful. The reason his ERA isn't worse is because he's usually had strong closers pitching behind him to clean up his messes. You can't really argue that this guy is any good.

Also, conveniently ignored by larry.Bad career WHIP, terrible run as a starter, few good but not really special seasons mixed in, and now has spent the past 3 years pitching in front of Gagne and Rivera.And then not only gets defended in an all-time draft, but compared to some of the greats (and I agree with Fingers being overrated, FWIW).

I didn't say he was better... I said that statistically he is comparable...whether there were outside causes doesn't really matter, since WIS isn't gonna take that into consideration and niether will, really the record books in 30 years...Fingers and Eck were better... they did great things...but to say that Quantrill isn't a respectable pick based on his #s as a relief pitcher is laughable...

That pretty much proves it. The guy flat out sucks.If he is good, that means something is more wrong with the mechanism that is measuring him, or pure luck, as opposed to his abilities. Because it is clear, he doesnt have that much of them.

It's a great league--that's the deal. Plus the entry fee is a lot lower than many of the other dynasty leagues that are run. That, and no ridiculous trades are allowed, so it keeps things from getting too out of hand.The web address (thought the league home page still need some work):

Because I picked guys because they had 8 seasons of 140+ adjusted ERA and I knew one of the top 4 (all 180+) were his WIS season??He was a quality pick, you are biased because he is not a closer...but in 10 years, when Middle Reliever is a position that is respected, Paul Quantrill will be considered one of the better ones ever...Closer didn't matter 20 years ago either, remember that...

No. Some people love it. Gay guys love it - only time I went was because a client of ours was GLAAD (gay lesbian alliance against defamation) and it was accross from their offices by the beverly center. Basically, I've commished the Let's Go dynasty league, and it's been a huge success aside from the unbalanced trades some people have performed, so now I'm starting vers. 2.0 in order to replicate the good part and eliminate the bad.

I did like it. I didn't think that's what'd be though, thought they'd show the clips. I liked the documentary style of it though. Very interesting.It did come off as a bit pretentious though. And hearing some of the stories I've heard about Lorne Michaels over the years, it kind of made me want to puke by the end of it. Still, I enjoyed it very much. Interesting to see how those guys careers have morphed over the years. Chase and Akroyd almost an after thought, while Murray still relevant.

Yeah, you don't really need to read the whole thing to get the gist of it. Basically, I've commished the Let's Go dynasty league, and it's been a huge success aside from the unbalanced trades some people have performed, so now I'm starting vers. 2.0 in order to replicate the good part and eliminate the bad.

When would it start?

Initial veteran draft ASAP, rookie draft first week of May
