It is official. Im hardly paying attention to wis anymore. What is the use, after the points Doug made yesterday. Those teams that especially have a bullpen designed for this game (with under .8 or at least under 1.0 whips) will have a chance. The rest of us, even if the pitchers are hall of famers, wont.
Blah.
That's not necessarily true. All that stuff is for designing teams within a salary cap structure. We don't have that limitation, so it is worth it for us to spend money on guys like Gagne. Granted, we didn't choose guys based on those metrics, but we should have guys who are adequate from the bullpen.
For us we can get by with 6 pitchers. 4 starters, a setup guy (who most of the time is not needed since our SP are good), and a closer. The key part for us is that closer can be a very good starting pitcher.
My main point, is that we can construct teams without some of the contraints that are being taken advantage of on lower salary cap teams. We can pay for guys with lots of saves who have good metrics (I think a bunch of RP were taken with bad metrics). In this sim you construct a team differently depending on the salary cap. You build an 80 million dollar team different from an 160 million $ team, different from an unlimited salary cap team.
I know your frustrated with Grove, but I'd continue to start him.
