I think the only surprising thing here is that you have a bunch of guys on the internet who made a wager, at dubious odds, with a stranger on the internet, and expected to get paid.

You're not out anything - you never had anything to begin with...

@cstu - when you get this - send what you can to a Veterans Organization - I'm good with that, and consider us square.
I find it surprising in 2016 that people make bets and don't pay. It's unbelievably easy to track people down. Very risky

I don't like Trump, but you don't really believe every person who voted for him was a narrow minded racist, do you?

My boss is pretty liberal, his point was pretty good - He was referring to him and me when we were talking and said we live in a bubble, the last 8 years have been great for us, market has roared, technology has been on fire, we've been doing great - factory workers, blue collar people, small business owners a lot of them have not enjoyed what we have, their wages haven't grown, and they're fed up with the establishment/political machine/elites, these people said go #### yourselves during the election. It's a pretty straightforward and understandable narrative when you look from outside of your own shoes.
No.

but I do think everybody who voted for him is ok with a racist being the president.

Wait, you think everyone who voted for Trump is a narrow minded racist? Obviously there is a group in his following that fall under that category, but to lump everyone in there makes you as much of the problem.

I actually won another bet with a family member - 10-1 (just $10-$100) and honestly the odds should've been higher, I took Trump to win Michigan and Pennsylvania on the exact thoughts in my post.

No.

but I do think everybody who voted for him is ok with a racist being the president.
Do you think some of them have a very valid reason to be pissed off? Like their wages are stagnant while others are making a lot more or their jobs have been disappearing and the establishment doesn't give a #### about these issues?

They were just willing to vote for anything that wasn't status quo, and as wrong as that is and I don't agree with it, I can understand it.

"In the 2016 election, a wide gap in presidential preferences emerged between those with and without a college degree. College graduates backed Clinton by a 9-point margin (52%-43%), while those without a college degree backed Trump 52%-44%. This is by far the widest gap in support among college graduates and non-college graduates in exit polls dating back to 1980"
If your quote is accurate it is very surprising to me.  Nevertheless, what I heard could very well be true as it was that college educated whites voted for Trump.

Blanket statements like the one you made are very foolish.  It's like me saying that anyone that supports Winston is okay with rapists.

Anyways, back to the topic of the thread.  CSTU is a very poor sport if he doesn't show up and respond soon.

The thoughts in your post are wrong. Trump was the wrong choice for people who have fallen behind economically and the low to moderate earners voted more for Hillary than Trump.

Whatever the reason he won, economic improvement for families falling behind isn't it. His policies were weaker than Hillary's there and that's not where his votes came from.

This is why you have to look at the other reasons people voted for him - immigration, racism, the "screw you" factor, sure, but people need to stop saying he won based on economic reasons for struggling Americans. It's not who his policies benefit and it's not who voted for him.

I really didn't think there were that many dumb uneducated racists left in America. I was wrong. My eyes have been opened I admit.
Which is exactly why trump won. Because people are being labeled racists, Nazis etc... When that's your final argument you've lost the power of persuasion. The Democrat party today is in the worst shape since before any of us were born. Maybe try a new strategy

No. I was agreeing with your boss or whoever you were talking about.

So last night we put the kids to bed early.  My wife lit some candles. I grabbed a bottle of wine and put on my favorite Panties Dropper CD.  I'll keep it PG and say we hugged so much it would've made @Nathan R. Jessep and Marissa blush.   Hell, my arms have never been so sore.

To think we've been together for 19 years and can still hug like we are teenagers.
Holy post completely unrelated to the topic at hand Batman!

But hey, congrats on banging the wife real good.  But to claim you achieved @Nathan R. Jessep level hugging is simply hyperbole.  No one hugs like Nathan and Marissa.

   Please, Democrats have been in way worse shape before.

"Exit Poll"

Sure. But he's not the guy

Now that we've gotten your biased opinion out of the way...

You're missing the point, these people are pissed and voting Trump was their #### you, regardless of financial/personal outcome for themselves - they wanted an outsider and didn't give a #### who it was.

I doubt a good portion of his voters expect anything to change in their lives, but the victory of telling the establishment to #### themselves was probably enough to bring some happiness into their less fortunate circumstances.

I have seen many people who make racist statements say this exact thing.   A lot of them are my wife's family.   I never say anything because I don't want them to change how they act around me so I can see the real them.   But being a white male in this society I hear racist comments weekly by other whites.   Now whether these people believe they are racist or not is another issue but it doesn't matter what they believe, they are.

Jameis is not a rapist, FSU & the local police were so sure of it, they didn't even have to investigate!

He didn't scream "F'er in the p!" either - I'm pretty sure that was Trump throwing his voice.

He's not a thief, either.  He had a hook-up.

And all those interceptions?  Line-play and lack of weapons.

So it's ok to support Winston.

No I get it, as a screw you vote, it makes all kinds of sense but when people try to say there was some great economic reason behind it, that's BS and if people believe it, it's a problem.

Talked to my daughter about that. That living Colorado might be like living in a bubble  it's in a good spot, lot's of available jobs, beautiful place to live. But there's a large part of this country that feels it's in a bad spot. If President Trump can make their life better it's a good thing.

If you think running for the President of the United States and being an NFL QB have the same character requirements, then sure, you've got a solid argument here.

I don't care if Winston is a QB in the NFL.  Doesn't affect me at all.

I do care if Winston is running for POTUS.  Would affect me and many others a great deal.

So she won the vote for everyone making under $50k and he won the vote for everyone making over $50k?
This is hugely misleading considering she won the popular vote and lost the EC.  These types of broad associations don't reflect reality of what got him elected which were white women in PA and FL. (primarily)

There are lots of other threads to discuss why Trump won.  This is the lynch thread.

For the record, from reports I have seen the biggest divide is White/Non White.  The only White group I saw that did not favor Trump were college grad women.

All sorts of people voted for both candidates.  Other than those types of people that don't pay their lost bets...we can only conclude they all voted for Hillary.

We can only assume all deadbeats went for Clinton. Which is funny because of handouts & the culture of freebies

So you failed to try to stop their racism. Maybe you are the problem? I used to have a racist father in law and told him straight to his face I didn't want him talking that racist trash in front of my kids.
