Anyone get refused service at Los Santos Customs because the car was "too hot"?

I finally found my favorite car online: the Infernus. I jacked it and beelined for the closest Customs shop to make it my personal car. But when I got there, they refused me.

Do you have to own your own garage to make it your personalized car?
Followup on this. I jacked a corvette (whatever the name is) and tried to park it in my garage. No go. It refused to accept it, and directed me to buy high end cars online.

<_<
What happens if you put it in your garage and it becomes a personal car? Can you then take it in and sell it or modify it?
That's the problem. The game refuses to let you put high end stolen cars in your garage.

So freaking stupid.

ETA: the game is stupid, not you. The effing title is GRAND THEFT AUTO for cripes sake.
I guess this is their version of "in-app purchases". Still, you can still get a very solid car as your main vehicle. For instance, I traded in my Vapid something or another (classic muscle car with #### handling) for a Lampadati Felon, which is barely below the super cars, IMO.
One of my favorite non-supercars is the Dewbauchee Rapid GT. Fast, and handles really well. Also like the Obey 9F.

Not really stupid IMO. In the GTA world you can put trackers on your cars. Do you think people who own the high end cars wouldn't have trackers?

Bonesman and I just tried an insanely hard mission, twice, and failed. You have to take out a small Merryweather force, crack a safe, then abscond with the loot in a small stolen boat to the marina while a helicopter chases you with machine guns firing. The boat can barely hold 4 people. Half the time I fell out the back when we hit a big wave, to be shredded by the helicopter machine gun fire. It was ridiculous.

FYI, for those still in SP mode, I discovered a spot that spawns a lot of armored cars. Not multiple at once, but a spot where there is a higher tendency for them to spawn than other spots. It's in Little Seoul/Calais Ave, at a two-story retail center called "Korean Plaza". Across the street is a building that is being constructed with a large crane. In the parking lot of Korean Plaza I've hit probably five or six armored cars.

The bank in Paleto Bay spawns them often too.

Is there a ps3 crew? If so how can I get an invite? My psn id is colin315, rockstar social club id is noswad315. I'm gonna give online play a go tonight.
Ditto, wife and kids going out of town Friday, I'll be on constantly from thurs night on through the weekend. I'll start friending some of you on Thursday. My psn is fake15

I'm starting to get into online now. I like the stealing cars and selling them to LSC thing. And I finally understand races -- before I didn't realize that you have to literally drive over every checkpoint as opposed to those things just showing you where to go (that's stupid as hell, but whatever). I'm also finally starting to get some missions. I'm probably only one car sale away from being able to buy a garage.

Gameplay should always take priority over realism. That said, if you could steal a super car and keep it permanently in your garage, that would unbalance things a little too much. I have no problem with this particular mechanic.

On a similar note, at first I absolutely despised the fact that cops constantly come after you if you're driving a stolen car. Then it finally dawned on me that when you're a noob, you're not supposed to be driving high-end cars, so that makes sense. Online just operates differently from SP, but that's fine. It forces you to work your way up.

Something awesome just happened.

Played for a bit with some crew members and was getting ready to sign off. After the mission I spawn at the airport and I figure it might be fun to steal a jet so I go looking for one. Can't find any, but I find a carbob parked there and steal it. On the other side of the airport there are like 5 other players congregated. No idea what they're doing, but I figured I'd hover over top and freak them out. They kinda scatter, and two crash into each other, one car is trying to turn out of a tight spot and I just drop my hook and grab the car. Success! I take off with this dude in his car handing from the chain under my chopper.

My first instinct was to just go sky high and drop them, but then a better idea occurred to me. I flew to the center of town and dropped the dude and his car on top of the highest sky scraper. I circle for a bit to see what he'd do, but he kept shooting at me so after a while I bailed. He's probably still up there pondering if he should drive off or not.

That is awesome. :lmao:

Finally bought an apartment tonight. Probably should've just waited for the Rockstar money and gotten something even better, but I was impatient. I thought if I purchased an apartment in a tower it would actually have a view, which seemed kind of cool. But once I enter it, it's just a couple of rooms I can walk around in.. no windows.

It came with a 6 car garage which I've already filled up with 4 range rover type SUV's. Should be easy to drive them down the road occasionally for a quick 6-8k from the chop shop.

I'm getting into the races too. Hulk and Uni were right: they're the best way to make money.

The payout is much larger. You can make as much finishing 3rd in a race as you would winning a deathmatch, and you don't waste $500+ on ammo either.

You also get bonus pay if you race with a crew member, so we need to hook up. if you start a race, always be sure to Invite Crew Members before anything else, so we can join.

BTW - No stimulus money this morning. Didn't someone say the first half was supposed to come at midnight last night?

people from the internet were certain it would hit 15th and 31st.

So, lets talk about that stimulus money.

Is the 400K apartment the top spot? Or as you reach higher levels, do other places open up?

Beyond that, can you ever get a Helipad or a Hanger? The attack chopper is 1.5M, so this would put you a 1/3 of the way there. That would be pretty bad ###. Or buying a hanger and then stealing the jet and parking it there so you keep it, that would also be most excellent. Who needs Top Fun when you can just do it on the regular map?

I'm only level 7, so I'm not sure what opens up later on. High level dudes, fill us in.

Oh, and FYI, if you do the races, set the laps to 1 if you're trying to farm money and RP. Goes faster ;)

I had a blast last night playing with a few guys from here, it was the first time I got to fly the F-16.

I need to practice my parachuting skills, those skyscrapers kept getting in my way.

Non-online thread: (we need to do that somehow)

Went back in last night. Did the assassination mission with the guy that like working girls. Dropped the 25 mil each of my guys has into the right stock before hand, did the mission, and then swamped between all three of them driving around sightseeing for a good 30 minutes, and got each of them up to close to 50 mil in the stock before I dumped to be safe (I am even risk averse in my investments in fake money).

After that I did the Trevor against the realtor friend mission. God was that tedious. THAT reminded me of the boring stuff you had to do in San Andreas like eat and work out.

Glitch question - I tried to have Franklin buy the boat slip and it wouldn't let me. But I checked and he is able to buy it. My only thought was that it was midnight in the game when I was doing it - is it possible that you can't buy property that late at night past "business hours?"

Can I dovetail on your post? I did the same mission last night, but when I went to buy the stock (with all 3 players) it said the BAWSAQ was down for maintenance (or something like that). Is this a glitch with our system, or just part of the game. Did I make a mistake of not buying the stock Lester would eventually recommend prior to starting the mission (###### if this is the case).

I never got it to work. I think you have to be connected to Live for that to work. Kind of dumb because I wasn't able to take advantage of a couple of stocks.

You have to be connected to XBox live for that market to work. I have the free can't really do anything XBox live account and that is fine for this. I found this out the hard way when I was getting download update notices that I ignored. When you do that you are automatically logged out of the Live account and with that I couldn't get into BAWSAQ until I downloaded the update and was able to log back in.

You HAVE to buy the stock with all of your guys before you talk to Lester. Once you are in the mission you can't do it.

#### my son has the live account. It looks as though I can still invest on the LCN. So I assume I should try and pick up tips on the radio and other gameplay, right?

you can always sign into the game under your son's live account. If you are just playing solo I don't think it really matters what live account you use.

I don't think you can save aircraft. That's why I like sandy shores for garage location. All 3 properties there are close to an airfield with a leveled plane and helicopter for free. At level 20 they put the chinook there which can lead to some super high comedy with the tow hook.

People will also abandon personal cars there which you can pickup and drop in the ocean.

The money imo needs to be saved for gun and car upgrades. SMG with supressor, scope, extended clip alone is nearly 100k. Outfitting the AK with the same is closer to 175k.

Anyone that blows this cash on a useless apartment is going to regret it when they level up enough to upgrade weapons and cars which are expensive as hell.

Since supressors reduce damage, I wasn't planning on buying that upgrade. The others, yes.

There is a 10 car garage downtown not too far from the helipad. Thinking of spending my stimulus $ on that one. Its like 200 something.

Oh, and FYI, destroying other's vehicles (exploding them or dropping them in the ocean) gets you "bad sport" points. Picking them up and putting them on top of buildings... well, thats just fun.

Might be awesome to camp near a store waiting for someone to rob it, then stealing their getaway car leaving them no way to escape.

Oh, also, apparently if 2 people get in the attack chopper, the 2nd player can control the guns, missles, making it much easier to use to kill folks.

Just wanted to jump on and do a few races. Ended up in a nice one with like 15 people. But apparently the cheesed!ck host set it to 16 laps. I didn't notice until like 3 laps in and by then I was in first place and annoyed I had another 13 laps. Decided the host probably set it up to the 16 laps as a way to get everyone quit and get free EXP and cash so just decided to finish it.

Well 40 minutes later and I win the race. For the last 10 laps it was just me and the host. I had like a 2 minute lead the whole race. Ended up winning like 3 grand and the host got nothing. Was it worth it? Probably not as it was tedious to do since it was a mountain path race with sport cars.

Wow, that's pretty crazy. I was curious if payouts increased based on number of laps, I guess not. All the more reason to play short 1 lap races with friends.

Level 43 spawns the buzzard at sandy shores and the hospital.

Pretty sure I'll end up in the dunce pool a few days after hitting 43.

I'm having a blast with the multiplayer, looks like I'll never finish the awesome single player. Only did 29 single player missions, so I guess I will always have something to look forward too

I'm going to try to do one long session today to finish up single player and jump to the online side finally.

I was able to finish that one with a group of guys the night before... but it took a few tries and at least one of them was over lvl 50. Going in with a lvl 4 dude I knew we were pretty screwed. Should've tried wasting the choppers before going on the boat ride. You're just a sitting duck in that thing.
