The more I think about that funny skip in the show just before the waitress gets killed, the more I'm convinced that it's Hiro that does it. He probably jumped too far in the past, tries to jump more forward, goes too far and sees that she is instrumental in helping Sylar and decides to jump back and off her himself.
This could be correct because a couple things happened in that scene that stick out.First, the blip of time when Hiro gets up. This could simply be the "changing" of events through time.Second, there are two noises we hear that the girl turns her head for. The first is nothing that we see and the second is when she falls after she is killed. We never see her body so no idea if the brain was taken or not. The real question is what is that first noise? Was it Hiro disabling Sylar, was it Hiro crashing back into the future from his time travel, was it Sylar being less than sneaky, was it a minor fight between Sylar and Hiro or was it simply a noise that is just a noise?Right now I am leaning towards Hiro jumping back in time but in the wrong place and not being able to save her. Since his powers are not that controlled yet I think his intentions were good but this will help evolve his character as to say I could have saved two people now and one time he did not try, the second time he tried and failed and maybe the third time is Claire where he will succeed.

I can't see Hiro offing anyone at this point. Future Hiro maybe, but not the Hiro we see now.

I rewatched this episode last night looking specifically for this "skip".I didn't see it. When does it occur, and are we sure this wasn't just a cut edit or something?
Its right when Hiro gets up from the table to go to the bathroom. It is a pretty noticeable skip/jump if you're looking for it. However it is rather subtle as well since I didn't think anything of it until after it was pointed out here. If it's editing, its rather piss poor on NBCs part

And this is in the same continuous scene, while he's walking to the bathroom? Its not an abrupt cut of scene from him walking to the waitress in the backroom?

Yes it's a continuous scene. IIRC, they are panning across the table with Hiro and his friend...then it skips to just Hiro. He then stands up to go to the restroom. It really looks out of place and isn't just an obvious change of angle

The girl asks the two of them "How we doing?" She then walks away out of the shot when Hiro glances at his friend while chewing. Then the blip happens and either Hiro is finished chewing or is not chewing anymore and gets up and walks to the bathroom.

The first noise I mentioned earlier sounds exactly the same as the noise Hiro's friend and her coworker hear. The 2nd noise is that of her head getting cut with blood rolling down.

In my mind now is that there was only one noise but we see two different view points of that noise. I am confused.

It happened while she was in the storeroom opening the gigantic can....

Sulu reduxBy Herald wire servicesFriday, November 17, 2006GEORGE TAKEI, aka “Star Trek’s” Sulu, will play the father of time-traveling fanboy Hiro Nakamura on NBC’s smash hit “Heroes.” Takei will appear in the Jan. 29 cliffhanger, according to TV Guide. Masi Oka, who plays the Japanese superhero, declares the casting choice “brilliant.”
OH MY!

I rewatched that scene and saw the skip.

I really think you guys are making mountains out of molehills here, reading into things a bit too much.

In thinking about the waitress' death scene I suddenly realized the rather obvious parallel of having her using the industrial can opener to open up the very large can of tomatos right before the top of her head is sawed off.

Dang, that took you a bit to get the symbolism.. ;)

Concerning the theory about the waitress and her birthday gift (Japanese to English Phrase Book) coming from Hiro, well, I don't think that could've happened. If he had been there at her birthday, the picture wouldn't have changed. He would've been in the picture before she died.....
But the waitress mentioning that "they don't get many toursists around here" makes it kind of obvious to me that it was Hiro who gave her the book. Who else would be carrying around a Japanese to English Phrase Book in the middle of Texas where no tourists go?This thread is pretty damn good!! I haven't been this into a TV show in a long time
If Hiro gave her the Japanese to English Phrase Book for her birthday, she would have recognized him at the diner. Therefore, in the original timeline, Hiro did NOT meet her months ago and give her the book.He may very well give her the book now and the new timeline might possibly not have either of them in the diner, or if they are, she recognizes him.Based on Hiro going back to her birthday party and being in the picture, the events that we just saw occur cannot happen on that timeline.Time Travel will mess up yor mind.
Or Hiro accidentally sat his book down near her presents and then forgot it when he teleported out, leaving her to think tht one of her friends gave it to her.

Are you saying he met her and talked to her in the past in the original timeline? She could not have previously met him, because she didn't recognize him.

Didn't need to meet and talk to her. He showed up at the party, somebody slapped a party hat on him and pushed him into a spot where a picture was being taken (much to his displeasure). When he realized he was in the wrong time, he got away from her as fast as possible, but carelessly sat down his phrase book before he teleported out. If there were enough people at the party, and things were hectic enough, she might not have even noticed him. Later, when she's collecting her presents, she finds the book and assumes one of her friends gave it to her as a gift.

If the book was his he would recognize it when he saw it later (er...earlier...damn time travel)

One thing that I wondered about was that she says he is cute when his cheeks wobble when he concentrates. I didn't see him do any concentrating around her. The main time you see that is when he uses his powers. Does she see him use his powers in the past?

Maybe he meets her in the past, and proves his power to her. Gives her the book, teaches her "You are sweet" but tells her to not mess with the timeline too much and act like she doesn't know him. I'm sure he leaves out her de-braining.

I think you have been in the Lost thread too long. It's her birthday party, you don't think she would've noticed the ONE japanese guy there? Especially if she didn't know him? And if she didn't notice him, how the hell would he have been in a pciture with her?

C'mon, lots of small town hicksvilles with Japanese guys who don't speak English. Those guys are the life of every party, so it isn't surprising to see one at almost every birthday, almost like a clown. While you might not know or might not have invited the clown, it doesn't surprise you that he showed up at the birthday party and he is always welcome.

Peter is in the new Rocky movie coming out this Christmas.
Gameday bump. And, I just thought I'd mention that I'm getting into the DC Premier of the new Rocky!!! :pickle:I'll let you all know wether its any good or not.
Is this the Rocky where he unites the titles of both the East and West Wings of the Sonnyvale Retirement Center?I hear he doesn't have to wear a mouth piece in this one. He just takes out his falsies.....

I hope this link works, it's an interview on Today with Peter and Hiro about tonight's episode. Be careful for spoilers.

Today interview with Lauer
Pretty damn big one in that interview. They kind of gloss over it, but it seems like you will find out pretty early in the episode anyway. The one thing is that I could swear that the "spoiler" part was something that I think we already saw, but probably didn't notice it for what it was.

Yup. But it isn't obviously going to end the way they are suggesting.

Can you guys hide it in a spoiler for those of us who have no sound here at work.
Spoiler:Simone shows Peter a painting of Issac's that shows Peter dead at the homecoming game, obviously after trying to save Claire. In the interview, Matt asks Peter (the guy who plays him) why he would give up his life to save the cheerleader. Peter said it was what he does, he's a caregiver.

That's the meat of it.

not reading to see if posted yet - prediction:

painting shows this guy dead, but he isn't.

he absorbs the power of those around him... like Claire. He will heal and live.

That little short haired girl is oddly cute. She can prevent Sylar and his powers but cant subdue Mohinder? Peter getting in trouble for killing the cheerleader too... uh oh.

I got the feeling she could subdue Mohinder - but choose not to.Wasnt qute sre but ws Sylar using telekinisis to cut the top of her head off?Not sure if there is anything to it, but it sure took a lot longer to get the cheerleaders head off then it did Charlie.

I can't believe I watched the Giants game and missed this...what happened?
A lot of build up to homecoming. Peter makes it there, Hiro does not. Sylar finds two cheerleaders in the changeroom and attempts to rip the head off one (not Claire). She is dead. She runs out screaming, Peter finds her. Peter and Sylar start grappling and fall of a ledge - look to both be knocked out and badly injured. Claire finds Peter, and he "heals himself" from absorbing Claires powers. Sylar is gone.Eden and haitian subdue Sylar in the woods - look to be taking him in. Cops arrest Peter presumably thinking he is the one that killed the other cheerleader.edit to add - also shows that Hiro went back 6 months in time and the staff at the restaurant knew him as a pal of Charlie. next week previews shows him at her birthday party.-Mohinder finds the boy in his "dreams". Gets info that his dad was right and he decideds to go back to NY.-Nikki/Jessica buys a big gun to go after D.L.

Just thought I'd add it sounded like Nikki/Jessica took a shot with that big gun

Anyone fill me in here? My DVR was skipping around so I missed part of this.My DVR also skipped Peter getting to the highschool. It went from Mohinder being asked for the password on the computer to Peter talking to Claire in the school (before Sylar was around). Anything happen in between these two points?
