Also does Parkman bite the bullet? Someone is supposed to get killed off during sweeps.
In the last two episodes both Skylar and Peter died.Did anyone surmise how Skylar came back to life? I haven't been reading up on Hero's the last few weeks.
It appeared Sylar found some way to slow or stop his heart, then come back from it.
he gained powers from the cockroach
Isnt that an assumption?

Yes, but they did show the cockroach multiple times, coincidence? I doubt it.

when i think about a cockroach i don't think of them as having "powers"

That is something that doesn't make sense right now, except for the desire to make Sylar a tougher bad guy. He's now been shot twice, and recovered. But if he can recover from being shot, WHY DOES HE WANT CLAIRE'S POWER? He already has it
I dont think he does - I dont think he has ever had a clean shot - either by chance or his ability to somewhat slow/deflect the bullet. The last time he was recovering quite a while.
I don't think they are real bullets...but was more under the impression that they are like rubber projectiles or something of that nature. perhaps im wrong. but they definitely don't want to kill him.

Cockroaches can withstand radiation at much higher levels than humans. Just an interesting fact

Say what. HRG cleary said to the Haitian after shooting him:"KILL HIM".. He is done playing games with Sylar he wants him dead and dead now.

Speaking of bullets, were those bullet holes in the body of Nicki's/Jessica's shrink? Or something else?

Did Jessica stab her multiple times with the metronome?

So once Peter learns to control his powers, will he have all of the same abilities as Sylar?

He was in contact with him, so will Peter be able to utilize Sylar's stolen powers? or even be able to use his big brain power? So far Peter has given no indication that he has any powers other than the ones he received after being in contact with the friendlies.

Is this an oversight or a flaw in the story?

I dont think he "gained" powers from the cockroach. Instead he figured out how the cockroach works and survives... if that is a power sobeit but I think Sylar is simply applying the same biological processes.

 powers = abilities

Sylar does not have "natural" powers though. Peter has gained previous powers from people who have them through nature... not through stealing them.

I thought Sylar killed the "heroes" so that he could open up their brains. That's how he "figured out" how to use their powers....I guess he could have done the same thing to the cockroach, but it would have had to crawl on him first. Plus wasn't the room/cage he was locked up in a special room that dampened his power?

I think Peter would have to come in contact with the original person with power, not second hand.

Nathan being Claire's dad is the first disappointment I have had with this show. It's too soap opera-y.

my buddy was hoping that claires dad would be future peter, who uses his timetravel to go back to knock up the fire woman

Yeah, I wasn't too happy about it either....Plus the potential Claire/Peter romance is even more icky.
I was re-watching this online. Claire's mom looks pregnant.

any way to watch episodes 2-9 online? NBC seems to only carry 1 and 10-16

Congressman: Still don't remember his name, but liking him less and less. But it looks like he gets some more interesting screen time next week. A little too contrived getting him to Vegas, but it was another link to the Rich Guy he was looking for financing from (the same guy who loaned Niki the money) I have a feeling he will be more prominent (Maybe Claire's father???)
How the #### did you make THIS leap of logic???? Wow.

He was saying that he thought Linderman might be Claire's father, not Nathan.

Have guys/gals seen the latest promo? It has the tag line "one will fly ... one will die". Looks like Matt and Nikki get in a fight and Matt is thrown through the window. Not sure which one that fits, but my guess is he is the one to die.

Not sure about the flying thing, unless Peter "remembers" how to fly without Nathan being around.

They did show a scene where it looked like Peter got angry with someone, took a step forward and yelled something, and then the person he was yelling at got thrown backwards. Looks like he might have picked up some Sylar power after all.

Poor Greg Grunberg. He bit it on Lost in the pilot (as the pilot) and now he'll be off this hit show.

I don't think it will be him. They had some spoilers about his character that hasn't happened yet and will need time to develop.

I would agree. Too much of him gunning for HRG to have him leave before backing that up. He's gonna get into HRG's head one of these days. Could even be a season finale where he learns what HRG is all about and what he does to the people he finds with abilities.

I would like to think it was Nathan or Milo. But with the story line of Claire's dad and Milo visiting Hiro from the future, I think both these guys are safe. There is no way they will get rid of Hiro.I'll put my money on Issac or Nikki/Jessica. Issac's power has been transfered to Peter, so you have someone who can see the future. Nikki/Jessica one will die and the other will have complete control.

I say the Haitian dies.

Then, no more brain wipes, and everybody remembers everything that happens from that point on. Chaos ensues.

That would be best from a show perspective, but I thought the reason they were killing off one of the characters early is because of a contract dispute?

DL is looking expendable at this point.

My thoughts on characters thus far:

HRG - clearly running a military/govt operation involving these test subjects. The helix tatoo, the "bite" marks on the necks, the constant surveillance all point to a larger operation.

Nathan - This whole "Claire's dad" thing is fairly lame, but I guess we'll have to keep with it. I'm finding it odd that they're all romantically linked already. Some sort of superhuman sex commune? (ok, that's a little out there)

Claire -

Peter - I really thought the nuclear bit would be a result of coming in contact with Ted, and the "too many things to sort out" causing the explosion I don't have a handle on either. I think the parents story unfolding will play a HUGE part of this story, and I don't think that Nathan and Peter are actually brothers.

Isaac - finding it troubling that the edges of his paintings are misleading the other heroes. The T-Rex painting makes Hiro think he'll go back in time, and it leads him to go the museum. Since the painting is of him IN the museum, it COMPLETELY minimizes the "need" for the sword, but at the same time, makes him think he's DEPENDANT on the sword. This also caused problems as it relates to the Homecoming incident. I think his paintings will lead others astray here as well. While all of his paintings happen, they aren't all equally important (it appears).

Niki/Jessica - I think it's possible Jessica will die in the upcoming episode, but it could be Niki as well. As soon as Jessica is strong enough and/or tries to be strong enough, this resolves itself.

Micah - hard to say. I think he has "healing" power. I think he can fix things by touch, and/or manipulate (like he did with the ATM).

Haitian - playing the good guy right now, he mentioned that his gift was "from God" - I think he can find anyone of the main players when they are in trouble/in need (i.e. HRG, Claire, Parkman)

Parkman - the wife is going to come into play. We haven't seen anything here, but it seems that EVERY significant other has power. He needs to get HRG away from the Haitian. I have thought once or twice that the Haitian may be an alter ego of her Dad, his empowerment.

Birth mom - obviously, it was her power that started the apartment fire where Claire was thought to have been killed. If Nathan is indeed the father, I'm sure he just ran away, just like when his wife was in the car accident (although it's unclear if he WANTS to fly away, or if it's just something that happens to him).

Sylar - I haven't figured out hows he using powers of those he hasn't killed yet. Wondering if he is accelerating the development of the gene because of the way he's going about it, or if he's able to somehow "re-wire" himself with telekinesis.

Micah doesn't "heal", his ability is to "manipulate" electronics. That is how he got the ATM to spit out money, how he got the phone to dial his mom without money, and very early on Nikki commented on his ability to "rebuild" computers/electronics very quickly (from her point of view it was a quick rebuild -- from his he just fixed it with his power).Sylar is not using powers of those he has not killed. We just haven't seen everyone that he has killed. Who knows when he got his telekinesis powers. Remember "the list" of names and how many had deceased written by them. My guess is quite a few of them have met Sylar and died by his hands, but we just weren't shown.

Huh? Sylar killed the guy with telekinetic powers right after meeting the old Dr. Suresh. That appeared to have been the first. He's been getting more and more power since then. I realize that by Nov 8th, he'll have killed a lot of people, but didn't the young Dr. Suresh say only 6 people have been killed on the list so far?

One thing about Sylar

People keep saying he steals the power of those he kills. But so far he has only shown telekenesis power. All of the other people he killed he has not shown one of their powers yet. Anybody find that a bit strange?

That was a flashback wasn't it?
He's been getting more and more power since then. I realize that by Nov 8th, he'll have killed a lot of people, but didn't the young Dr. Suresh say only 6 people have been killed on the list so far?
I don't remember that. But can you give me an example of Syler using a power of someone he hasn't killed yet?

DL is looking expendable at this point.

My thoughts on characters thus far:

HRG - clearly running a military/govt operation involving these test subjects. The helix tatoo, the "bite" marks on the necks, the constant surveillance all point to a larger operation.

Nathan - This whole "Claire's dad" thing is fairly lame, but I guess we'll have to keep with it. I'm finding it odd that they're all romantically linked already. Some sort of superhuman sex commune? (ok, that's a little out there)

Claire - :bag:

I'm assuming that if the gunshots knocked him down, he didn't use telekinesis to "deflect" them. And after Parkman went to look at where he went, he was either "invisible" or he "flew".I don't have an answer, but he seems to be more powerful than just telekinetic.

One thing about SylarPeople keep saying he steals the power of those he kills. But so far he has only shown telekenesis power. All of the other people he killed he has not shown one of their powers yet. Anybody find that a bit strange?
Well, although he presumably will kill Isaac, he hasn't killed him yet in present time. He killed smart/memory girl. Not sure he has had an occasion yet to use knowledge/memory. But you're right, he did kill persuader chick and didn't use her power. He had every opportunity to use her power when he went to HRG's house. That is odd.

That's a good point. And now that I think about it, when he was chased in the hospital, didn't he fly up through a rooftop entrance?

Whatever happened to the little girl whose parents were killed by Sylar? Parkman and the FBI agent saved her, but they haven't returned to her story, have they?

Has it been suggested that she has powers? Or were her parents "heroes"?
