Kaine will now forever be associated with Hillary..  that's a stink that won't wash off..  I hope he has a trusted lawyer on speed dial.

Speed dial? He'll now be completely staffed with "trusted lawyers"  - best way to invoke attorney-client privilege and avoid accountability.

exactly..  Hillary made sure she found a yes man who will look the other  way when needed..   ethical people with self esteem need not apply
Are you guys joking here?  VPs always have to fall in line.  George H. Bush (the good one, whodathunkit?) called Reagan's trickle down stuff "voodoo economics" before getting on board.  It's just how things work.

And what are you basing this on?  Or are you just trolling?  If you're trolling, then well played, I took that bait. :bag:
Not trolling. I'm basing this on 4 likelihoods:

1. Hillary is likely to be our next President.

2. Hillary is likely to be re-elected.

3. Hillary's VP of 8 years is likely to be the next Democratic nominee.

4. The Republicans are likely not to recover from the Trump debacle for at least a decade, because they have lost the Latino vote for a generation (see California).

So yeah I think it looks likely.

Even if Hillary wins, 8 years as VP into being the next president has happened, what, once in the last 200 years?  And now it's "likely"?

California is never going red regardless

Kaine is so much better than Hillary or Bernie.   At least if Hillary is elected, it is just a matter of time until Kaine replaces her when she gets impeached.  Then hopefully the Republicans put up a strong candidate in 4 years.

Well a lot of stuff can happen. But the main thing is I'm skeptical that the GOP will recover in 8 years.
Even if this Trump thing goes down in a semi-blaze of fire that could very easily lead to the GOP overcorrecting in the other direction which would be very appealing to people in the middle.

A fairly moderate Republican would do very well in the general.  The problem has always been getting a moderate Republican on the ticket.  The worse Trump does the more likely that conservatives will let that happen next time around.

So that's why the slogan has changed from "I'm with Her" to "I'm with Them"?  Hillary riding on Kaine's coat tails?

I sure hope you're right. I'll vote for a moderate Republican.

Doubt it. Hillary wasn't going to lose the black vote no matter what and that's they key to the Democratic nomination.

But I am really sold on this guy- I've never heard him speak before. He's great.
Kaine's great but he wouldn't have won the nomination?

I disagree, his Southern pedigree is better than Hillary's.

Many reasons, but the chief among them is demographics
About 40% of Hispanics in California used to vote Republican. Then came 1994- Pere Wilson and Prop 187. Ever since only 15-20% of Hispanics voted Republican. There's your difference.

Trump is doing for the whole country what Wilson did for California, except even more so.

Why so many VPs get nominated for the next 4 years?  Is it reward for being a yes man?
They get nominated the same time the President gets nominated and they get nominated so that they can take over in case the President is incapacitated. And why would you change a VP mid-stream, you need to show consistency.

They really wanna push this tax return stuff?  I think the Goldman speeches are much more interesting.. Trump should call that bluff on the debate stage

It's part of it.  Let's forget the Trump effect on Hispanics.  Demographics and race based politics is where we are today.  Just prior to Trump, the Republicans weren't getting 40% nationwide among Hispanics.  The white vote is also this way.  Put in Mitt Romney's percentages by race into the electorate of Ronald Reagan.  What do you see?  You see a landslide like Reagan had.  As a whole America clusters politically based on race today more than ever before.  I don't like it, but it's where we are.  The numbers bear that out.

I mean the the term after the current POTUS candidate leaves office.
