Right, progressives may vote Trump now.I don't see Kaine bringing in any independents, but could see him pushing away progressives.

But that's OK. In the battlegrounds, any Republican that votes for Johnson helps Hillary.Yep. I was just pondering this political calculation. I'm sure she doesn't care how many progressive votes she loses in deep red states, and she's probably assuming enough of them will fall in line in strong blue states. But the battle ground states? I am guessing she thinks, with this move, the number of progressives she loses is less than the number of anti-Trump Republicans she can pick up. If so, I think she's under-estimating how bad GOPers really hate her. They'll go for Johnson before they give her their vote, imo.
How close are the battleground states for him to say this?![]()

Don't think people are really grasping how plausible it is that Trump could become president. It's a close election right now.
And Hillary is spending like there is no tomorrow, probably over $1 million per day now, so easy when it's someone else's money.![]()

I didn't say anything like that. Try to keep up.Right, progressives may vote Trump now.
Fair enough. I personally didn't care about appealing to Sanders supporters. I feel most will fall in line. I'd rather have someone more middle of the road to appeal to independents. The fact that Kaine was a popular governor and senator helps strengthen her chances in an important battleground state as well.As far as the commonly reported final 3 contenders, I was most favorable to Perez personally. Yes I understand "officially" he is pro tpp, but he's been wishy washy on the topic. For full disclosure, I was a Bernie guy before my current deliberations voting Johnson or an F the system Trump vote.
I was really hoping Hill would try to appeal to the Bernie audience, and she would have at least made me think with another candidate. I don't see that with this selection. I know their ideas were a bit contrasting in areas (H and Bern), but I think there's a lot of votes to the far left that she just left on the table, or in some individual cases, risks alienating altogether.
You missed the context. If she's overestimating how many anti-Trump GOPers she could pick up and underestimating the number of progressives she could lose, that's a big problem. Agree? But that's OK. In the battlegrounds, any Republican that votes for Johnson helps Hillary.
I switch between optimism and pessimism.![]()

He didn't clarify the tweet and has posted nothing in the 50 minutes since. How close are the battleground states for him to say this?
And you are overestimating the number of Progressives she might lose. Do you think the Evangelical vote is going to switch over to Hillary when Trump pivots on Gay rights and Abortion? No, they will grit their teeth or not show up altogether. You missed the context. Sanders would have been about issues. This is about HRC and her bad decisions.I switch between optimism and pessimism.
But I believe that if Trump wins, then it really doesn't matter what Hillary might have done (and I absolutely reject the notion that another candidate could have beaten him.)
This election is not about Hillary Clinton, or Barack Obama. It's about Donald Trump. If Hillary wins, it will be because a majority of Americans came to their senses and rejected Trump. If Trump wins, it will be because at this time in our history a majority of Americans decided that they wanted us to turn inward as a nation and retreat from the world, and because we allowed fear and xenophobia to overwhelm us. So be it.
I'm not actually estimating or arguing a specific point, just wondering about how different scenarios could play out. You could easily be correct when all is said and done. And you are overestimating the number of Progressives she might lose. Do you think the Evangelical vote is going to switch over to Hillary when Trump pivots on Gay rights and Abortion? No, they will grit their teeth or not show up altogether.
Same thing with Hilary. Though I don't see her losing many progressives. Some may stay home, but most will grit their teeth and vote for Hillary...Because they don't want bat-s*** crazy, thin skinned Donald in the WH
Tim you have criticized Hillary constantly for screaming in her speeches and not speaking in a normal voice, yet Trump was screaming during his entire harangue last night, yet you praised him on his delivery. (?).I switch between optimism and pessimism.

I am with you on switching... But i am feeling optimism today. Trump just will not be able to handle the next 100 days or so and I think Hillary will get a decent sized boost in the polls next week to give her a cushion.I switch between optimism and pessimism.

Don't underestimate this. Great post. Some are literally right next to each other.
Can we give warning points to moderators? For the above certainly deserves it.Some are literally right next to each other.
I'd guess I'm more liberal than 95+% of people on this board, and I am happy with the pick, and not just for strategic reasons.I find it funny that the Republicans are the ones concerned that Hillary didn't pick a progressive for VP
This is pure, unadulterated speculation without an ounce of evidence to back it up. :reported:Some are literally right next to each other.
Hillary will learn one day that she can't buy love.I switch between optimism and pessimism.

Honestly? Because it's OK when certain men scream. (Not every man, but it works for Trump. It has worked for other demagogues as well.) When Hillary does it it sounds shrill.Tim you have criticized Hillary constantly for screaming in her speeches and not speaking in a normal voice, yet Trump was screaming during his entire harangue last night, yet you praised him on his delivery. How come Mr. Krista doesn't post here anymore? I miss his posts. The charity golf dude didn't freak him out, did it?ETA: Actually, make that two far-left voters. Mr krista feels the same way, and I think he's even further to the left.
How come Mr. Krista doesn't post here anymore? I miss his posts. The charity golf dude didn't freak him out, did it?
Hey. What's up? I forgot about the charity golf guy who was ready to do battle over the crappiest Beatles record. That made me smile. How come Mr. Krista doesn't post here anymore? I miss his posts. The charity golf dude didn't freak him out, did it?
Good to hear from you. Maybe you can talk some sense into NC Commish? He's in a battleground state- it matters.Hey. What's up? I forgot about the charity golf guy who was ready to do battle over the crappiest Beatles record. That made me smile.
I'm cool with TK. Seems like a good dude.
Of course, I would vote for dead jellyfish before voting for Trump, so, you know. TK>Dead jellyfish>Trump.
Yes, dude, screaming is screaming irrespective of the gender.Honestly? Because it's OK when certain men scream. (Not every man, but it works for Trump. It has worked for other demagogues as well.) When Hillary does it it sounds shrill.
People have different talents. Screaming doesn't work for Hillary.Yes, dude, screaming is screaming irrespective of the gender.
And it didn't work for Trump either, despite your accolades.People have different talents. Screaming doesn't work for Hillary.
Vote your conscience means vote your conscience.Good to hear from you. Maybe you can talk some sense into NC Commish? He's in a battleground state- it matters.
Correct. This VP is the signal that Hillary is going to play ball. In any other life Kaine is a Republican. This guy is one of the few that can give Hillary a run in the bought dept. I swear this would have been the Republican ticket when I was much younger.
Oh yeah and liberal Hillary? Yeah stake through that lie's heart.
No, this election is about having the worst candidates we could possibly have.I switch between optimism and pessimism.
But I believe that if Trump wins, then it really doesn't matter what Hillary might have done (and I absolutely reject the notion that another candidate could have beaten him.)

Arkansas? Did your fingers slip off the keyboard as you tried to type something else? And VA doesn't matter, that is locked up, Hillary is going for NC, GA, AR, FL, & maybe a couple other Southern states (yes).
Hillary also sucks out loud. There's that too. But if you want a criminal President, so be it.I switch between optimism and pessimism.

Neither is Putin a criminal.Wat? Did I miss a conviction somewhere? Or did we change the definition of criminal?
I'm hopeful that one's conscience isn't static but instead continues to take in information that enhances its development.Vote your conscience means vote your conscience.
Ok you're right there. Trump was up +11 as of late June.Arkansas? Did your fingers slip off the keyboard as you tried to type something else?
I expect some completely bogus 11th hour accusation from his camp. A "sources say Hillary ###### Assad in college" type thing. A more aggressive not sayin', just sayin'.If Trump doesn't close the gap considerably come Monday, he's toast. With the email ruling and the RNC in the past, there's nothing else that's going to give him a boost.
