Reuters polling for Hillary used to be in double digits but the most recent one from 7/25-7/29 came out only +5.  I know they changed their methodology though.

Question: If Hillary wins, how long are the republicans going to block her supreme court nod?

At this point, I'm pretty sure Obama's pick will remain blocked until he's out of office. He probably doesn't care either.
I'm willing to bet after the required :hophead:  show the GOP will provide their blessing....if they don't do it with Garland before hand.

I just watched a good bit of Hillary on her Fox interview with Chris Wallace and I think she did a pretty good job. Her response on the speech by Mrs. Woods was good and even though lord knows she continues to say what are essentially false things about her email setup she handled that well also. And really the difference was that she seemed relaxed, confident and she did not overreach on her claims. The tough thing about answering the email questions is that she never really can admit to what she did, because it is inherently improper or even illegal. But overall it was pretty good and I give her credit for going on Fox and getting professionally drilled by Wallace. And Wallace was great too, which helped.

God I got a dirty mind

Ignoring TPM's polling tracker, which has Clinton up 8, the average result of the other four (NYT, 538, RCP and HuffPo) has Clinton up 2.0 right now.  If you include TPM's it's 3.2%.  TPM's seems to be really quick to respond to new polls, with less weight on older ones while the others are slower to move.

Either way, seems safe to say there's a bounce in progress -- she's up from almost dead tied four or five days ago to +2-3% today.  In addition there are a couple polls I've seen that don't appear to be recorded in most places yet, and they have Clinton up +3 and +5.  So think +3 is probably a fairly safe guess right now.

Hard to see how the weekend's extended pissing match with the parents of a dead war hero will help him outside his base, so will be interesting to follow as polls heading into the field tonight and tomorrow come back in later this week.

Hillary on Chris Wallace this morning, lies directly to the camera about blaming Benghazi attack on a video (she did) and deleting emails (she did) and possessing classified materials (she did). Despite video clips of her saying all of those things, she denies saying them.

What a disgusting human being.

She is a true sociopath.

She lies.  It's just her nature.  Although if you think about it, it's not just lying.  She uses information to manipulate, weighing the pros and cons.  It's a scarier thing.

Unfortunate you feel this way, as it is obvious that for the first time in your life you will not be voting for a Democrat. Those of us, like you, who are progressive and liberal, do hope you change your mind and rejoin us.

Yeah, fair to say something is going on with Bill's brain.  I worry about dementia.  Seriously.
Indeed we must be concerned that the future first dude or gent played with balloons at the convention. Mental health experts are all in agreement that obviously is one of the first signs of Alzheimer's.

It's not just the frolicking and wonderment with the balloons. It's the general aloofness, the tremor (not consistent with Parkinson's though), and disinhibition overall that strike me as a neuropsychologist as signs for concern.

But, thanks for playing.

I'm more concerned about Dubya to be honest, based on his Dallas appearance.

Cobalt 27, certified mental health expert. OK, if you say so (no one can dispute it and you certainly won't give us the personal information to prove it). But anyway, please keep us updated on other conditions you observe regarding Bill Clinton. We will await your expert opinion with bated breath.

Trump is running the Jesse Ventura gambit.  Trump's PRIMARY goal is to drive young males to the polls in record numbers.  Ventura did that and shocked every pollster by winning the governorship of Minnesota.  All of the Minnesota polls largely underestimated young male turnout and they broke heavily for Ventura.  From day 1, Trump has been banking on doing this on a national scale.  So if Trump trails by 2%-3% in national polls, he probably figures that, according to the plan, he will win.

Trump's core message is:  Obama is a wimp, Hillary is your mom, and I am a real man that won't back down from stuff.

Just as I'm coming around to having to vote for Clinton.

Wall Street Journal published an opinion piece by Peter Schweitzer (author Clinton Cash).  One output of Wilileaks is links to tens of millions in Clinton Foundarion donations and technology investments made by Hillary's State Department in Russian innovation.

"Even if it could be proven that these tens of millions of dollars in Clinton Foundation donations by Skolkovo’s key partners played no role in the Clinton State Department’s missing or ignoring obvious red flags about the Russian enterprise, the perception would still be problematic. (Neither the Clinton campaign nor the Clinton Foundation responded to requests for comment.) What is known is that the State Department recruited and facilitated the commitment of billions of American dollars in the creation of a Russian “Silicon Valley” whose technological innovations include Russian hypersonic cruise-missile engines, radar surveillance equipment, and vehicles capable of delivering airborne Russian troops."

Carter, both Bushes and Bill all look awful these days.  Can't see any of them living another 8 years.  We could be voting in 2024 and there's only Obama and Hillary left as living presidents.

The Jesse Ventura gambit required 3 candidates. Ventura only got 36.9% of the popular vote, which is actually pretty close to what Trump was averaging before the Republican convention. Of course, that number would result in a landslide Hillary victory.

Let's also not forget that in 1998, it was much more difficult for pollsters to account for younger voters (since most polls were landline-based and fewer people had cell phones). But today's pollsters are much better at incorporating all demographics, so most of Trump's "young male vote" has already been mixed into the polling data.

You seem skeptical, squiz.

What mental Health degree do you have? Are you a Doctor? Or just pretend to be one on a Fantasy Football Message board?

IIRC Ventura profited from a nearly even third party affected three way split in a largely white state, so it seems like a bad comp.

Today's pollsters are horrible at incorporating all demographics.  They totally got the black vote wrong in 2008 and 2012.

I'm not sure that's really a valid dismissal.  I mean, there will always be a differences between elections.  I think I would need to hear why you think 3 candidates vs 2 candidates is reason to dismiss the Ventura Gambit.

Lets play the game of, pin the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) indication on the donkey:

APSD (Trump makes Richie Incognito look like Gandhi) :)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antisocial_personality_disorder

Antisocial personality disorder (ASPD), also known as dissocial personality disorder (DPD) and sociopathy, is a personality disorder, characterized by a pervasive pattern of disregard for, or violation of, the rights of others. An impoverished moral sense or conscience is often apparent, as well as a history of crime, legal problems, and/or impulsive and aggressive behavior.

Perusing 538's election forecast, July has been a terrible month for Hillary. Odds of winning have changed from 79%-21% Hillary on July 1 to just 51-49 tonight. Plenty of states, including Ohio and Florida, have flipped to Trump. Some regression to the mean I guess, but Jesus.

I'm not a "real" doctor, but the Ph.D. somehow affords me that "Dr." title.  Clinical Psychologist, trained as a neuropsychologist.  Goes without saying, I can't diagnose Bill, having never evaluated him.  However, certain behaviors are concerning, including recent disinhibition, motor signs, and somnolence.  They can all be explained away by personality factors and/or to some extent normal aging patterns.  But, it does appear to be  significant change from prior functioning, so I am speculating that something else is going on.

I haven't seen a beat down this bad in a long, long time.  Wow. :goodposting:

So then you must have a wealth of speculation about Mr. Trump.

Narcissistic personality disorder

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcissistic_personality_disorder

Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is a long term pattern of abnormal behavior characterized by exaggerated feelings of self-importance, an excessive need for admiration, and a lack of understanding of others' feelings.[4][5] People affected by it often spend a lot of time thinking about achieving power, success, or their appearance. They often take advantage of the people around them. The behavior typically begins by early adulthood, and occurs across a variety of situations.[5]

The cause of narcissistic personality disorder is unknown.[6] It is a personality disorder classified within cluster B by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.[5] Diagnosis is by a healthcare professional interviewing the person in question.[4] The condition needs to be differentiated from mania and substance use disorder.[5]

Treatments have not been well studied. Therapy is often difficult as people frequently do not consider themselves to have a problem.[4] The personality was first described in 1925 by Robert Waelder while the current name for the condition came into use in 1968.[7] About one percent of people are believed to be affected at some point in their life.[6] It appears to occur more often in males than females and affects young people more than older people.

Signs and symptoms

People with narcissistic personality disorder are characterized by their persistent grandiosity, excessive need for admiration, and a disdain and lack of empathy for others.[8][9] These individuals often display arrogance, a sense of superiority, and power-seeking behaviors.[10] Narcissistic personality disorder is different from having a strong sense of self-confidence. This is because people with NPD typically value themselves over others to the extent that they disregard the feelings and wishes of others and expect to be treated as superior regardless of their actual status or achievements.[8][11] In addition, people with NPD may exhibit fragile egos, an inability to tolerate criticism, and a tendency to belittle others in an attempt to validate their own superiority.[11]

According to the DSM-5, individuals with NPD have most or all of the following symptoms, typically without commensurate qualities or accomplishments:[8][11]

  1. Grandiosity with expectations of superior treatment from others
  2. Fixated on fantasies of power, success, intelligence, attractiveness, etc.
  3. Self-perception of being unique, superior and associated with high-status people and institutions
  4. Needing constant admiration from others
  5. Sense of entitlement to special treatment and to obedience from others
  6. Exploitative of others to achieve personal gain
  7. Unwilling to empathize with others' feelings, wishes, or needs
  8. Intensely jealous of others and the belief that others are equally jealous of them
  9. Pompous and arrogant demeanor

NPD usually develops by adolescence or early adulthood.[8] It is not uncommon for children and teens to display some traits similar to NPD, but these are typically transient without meeting full criteria for the diagnosis.[11] True NPD symptoms are pervasive, apparent in various situations, and rigid, remaining consistent over time. The symptoms must be severe enough that they significantly impair the individual's ability to develop meaningful relationships with others. Symptoms also generally impair an individual's ability to function at work, school, or in other important settings. According to the DSM-5, these traits must differ substantially from cultural norms in order to qualify as symptoms of NPD.[

This is a slam dunk, IMO.

Let me remind you:

cobalt took you behind the woodshed and administered a beat down so bad you might want to go see your actual Doctor.  Not so funny now, is it?
Max. I honestly do not care what you have to say. Cobalt explained himself to me, and you are being a bit childish right now.

Get over yourself

No really, i want to hear what you have to say about Mr. Trump. Can't remember if you are a supporter but I know you are anti-Hillary.
I'm anti-Hillary, but that pales in comparison to my disdain for Trump.  One can start with the personality disorder spectrum, particularly narcissism and proceed with that as a base.
