*** Official Jaguars Thread - Team Putting #DTWD to The Test *** (2 Viewers)

Victory Monday mode- This team is one of the final four left. Amazing.

You know, I didn't feel comfortable with this game until there were 4 seconds left. Just not used to seeing QB's do what Roethlisberger did yesterday. He was fantastic. His ball placement was otherworldly.

It was nice to see early season Fournette show up prior to being hurt. He was a freight train back there. Yeldon came up with some big plays.

Hackett called a brilliant game. Getting Bortles going early is the key to getting Good Bortles to show up and he did just that.

The O-line played really well. No sacks and consistent holes opened up. I mean, the only negative play was the kneel down.

Bortles played great in the fourth quarter and made some clutch plays. That pass that Yeldon took for 40 yards was as timely a pass as we've seen all season.

Yannick was a monster. Once he develops another pass rush move and considering how good he already is, watch out.

Telvin was Telvin as we've come to expect. Myles Jack played one hell of a game. He's dropped back down to his natural playing weight and you can see that he's a much better player at 230.

AJ Bouye was grabby in this game. He also didn't flash the ball skills that we are accustomed to seeing. I'm going to attribute that to lining up with the best receiver in the game.

Gipson allowing that late first half TD drove me nuts and was a giant momentum swinger. You cannot let that happen.

Lambo has been a godsend. That dude was free on the open market.

Jalen is awesome.

The Jags now have more wins this year than the previous 3 years combined.

Although I'm a Jets fan, I've been on the Jags bandwagon since week 2 when I grabbed their defense. I thought the play-calling was key early in the game. I think everyone expected them to avoid passing as much as possible, but they started off with a pass, some misdirection, and runs for Bortles in addition to the runs for LF.  They didn't play scared and it set the tone.   After LF went down, the play-calling seemed conservative until the 4th quarter.

I'm looking for to this game against NE and the refs. Brady is skittish in that pocket if you put enough pressure against them. However the Pats are as good as it gets when it comes to scheming. Expect lots of quick passes to the RBs and Gronk. Good luck.

And I loved Marrone going for the TD on 4th and 2 on the first drive. He's done one hell of a job this year.
Definitely gutsy and set the tone. However, I thought they should have run on third down and gone for it on 4th down if they didn't make it. A  pass followed by a run on 4th down and 2 seemed risky.

Like most non-Pats fans, I am rooting for the Jags this weekend.

That said, I'm not sure I understand all the talk from Jags defenders like Jackson and Ramsey. The Steelers had 545 yards and 6 TDs yesterday. The Jags offense won that game, not the defense.

I suspect those who are talking the most smack when winning, will be the biggest whiners/excuse makers when they lose.

They're used to it being the other way around. They're just looking for any chip to put on their shoulders.

Jags defense also made the plays when it mattered. Denied two 4th and 1s. Set up one TD on an IN'T.  Scored another on a Strip 6.

3 of those TD were perfectly placed throws and/or great catches.

Let's not pretend that the Steelers don't have dynamic playmakers.

Yes, Jalen Ramsey should have said, "We're just lucky to be here. Hopefully Tom doesn't beat us by too much next week."

Yes, Belichick would never allow a player to publicly express confidence at beating an opponent. But he also would not have allowed a public pep rally coming home from a divisional round game.

Or.. maybe...you know....something more neutral in between arrogant kid and submissive cuck. But he's a 23yo kid in an organization not familiar with winning... so this is kinda expected.

By the end of the game they were really getting good pressure.

They really need to try to push the middle of the pocket Sunday.
I really think decision to play coverage was score based to give up the underneath stuff. When they brought pressure, it was successful. The Strip 6 was on a blitz and i think they brought a corner for a huge sack first half.

Agree with pressure up the middle. Double A gap blitz isn't something Jags do much. Might have to settle for twists and stunts especially with Brady's ease of dumping off to RB.

@adamlevitan: Routes run by JAX wideouts at PIT with Marqise Lee no longer on injury report: Westbrook 21, Lee 20, Hurns 15, KCole 10.

How do you guys feel about Bortles versus Belichick? I think the Jags have done a real nice job of stripping him down with a small offense to start and building it up as the season wore on. Now it's like they almost have their test against BB? Do you think he can be mistake free?

Not entirely comfortable, tbh. But I definitely feel better than in season's past. Overall, he hasn't been as bad as people have have made him out to be. He's had more good games than not-so-good games. The Jags are 10-0 when he doesn't turn it over.

Mistake free- Probably not; that's not who he is. But he's going to have to play well and take some shots.

Really more concerned with how Belichick/Brady will pick apart defense than Belichick effect on Jags offense.

Jags OL has been pretty underrated and should be able to move ball somewhat. Not expecting a huge day from Bortles but if he can mix in some passes especially on first down they'll be in decent shape.

Nobody in their right mind is expecting BB5 to lead them back from say 10 point deficit with 10 to play. But he can he play an effective complementary role.

Cool

@WJXTvic: #Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette  signed the bumper of his 2017 Maybach and gave it to a first responder after someone rear-ended him on I-295. He also posed for pics. Everyone ok. Woman in an SUV cited for careless driving, causing crash. https://twitter.com/WJXTvic/status/953334972131225601/photo/1

LOL

@WJXTvic: Yes, I asked. @FhpJacksonville supervisor says no Patriots or Steelers were involved in today’s 3-car crash, where Leonard Fournette was rear-ended. https://twitter.com/WJXTvic/status/953337827445616641/photo/1

Andrew Gibson @1010XLAG “I think the importance put on winning is something that wasn’t necessarily as high of a priority in the past. From the time Marrone and Coughlin got here, that’s all everything has been about,“ #Jaguars QB Blake Bortles on the culture change in JAX.

Gus, man...

In case you guys missed it in the AFC Championship Game thread... very interesting analysis of Jacksonville's strengths, and weaknesses, on Defense, and how they might not match up so well against New England's standard package even before Belichick starts scheming.

If you're into X's and O's and analytics, it's an exceptional read from a guy who's analysis is generally fairly well respected.
I saw it. Interesting read.

The Jags do need to put up points in this game.
