*** Official Jaguars Thread - Team Putting #DTWD to The Test *** (1 Viewer)

Welcome Chase McLaughlin, placekicker #6 for your 2020 Jacksonville Jaguars

The only job with less security than drummer for Spinal Tap

Last time the Jags played on Monday night was Dec 5, 2011. They were shellacked by the Chargers at home, dropping to 3-9. The week before they had lost to the Texans, costing HC Jack Del Rio his job.

Fast forward almost 12 years to the day. Last week, the Jags played the Texans (and finally won), and Jack Del Rio was fired again (as WAS DC). 🤣

I'll just leave this right here

Most of Pederson's answers were short, at least until it came to a question about the team's play-calling, a question Pederson has fielded throughout much of the offseason and into the season as the losses kept piling up.

Specifically, Pederson was asked if he'd "take the headset over" from offensive coordinator Press Taylor, the team's presumptive play-caller.

"For what?" Pederson asked. "I thought he called a great game. As coaches, we can't go out there and make plays, right? It's a two-way street. So you guys can sit here and point the finger all you want and it's fine. Point it right at me, I can take it. Okay. I can take it, so whatever you want to ask me, say, whatever, write, go ahead."

It's an odd situation. Talent is there but it seems everyone is waiting on someone else to make a play. Some coaching decisions are head-scratchers, like going for it in a close game on 4th and 5 and you're in FG range. Take the points, it's early in the 3rd quarter.

The defense is hit or miss. Sometimes they get after it and others it seems like everyone is asleep.

The offense. Oh boy. Trevor should be better than he is right now. It's good that he's actually been better at protecting the ball, but he takes way too many sacks. It's almost like coaches have told him to stay in the pocket more this year. But he's become a statue, just stands there waiting to be sacked. The protection isn't great but he can't expect them to hold up for 7 or 8 seconds. He needs to flush out of there and make something happen. He's not a bad runner but for some reason he's been refusing to go. The little spin move is just ridiculous. Stop it.

He had a TD if he had just went left into the hole on the goal line yesterday. Instead, he lowered his head and ran right into the only two defenders in the way. No vision.

Not all his fault, though. There's been lots of dropped passes too.

Good players need to step up, starting with the QB. He's better than this. But the line and play-makers need to help him out as well. They need to draft or sign a good TE. They miss Engram but he's aging and never seems to be healthy.

But what do I know? I'm a Panthers fan. :bag:

Come on Jags, let's go!
