*** Official Jaguars Thread - Team Putting #DTWD to The Test *** (2 Viewers)

What's the LT leaving mean for Fournette?
in terms of plays exclusively for LF, prolly not much, more of a power vs zone type player, he will have FB help too

in terms of overall impact, it might lead to more sacks and pressures in obvious throwing situations, which means that if LF isnt the best pass blocking back, he will be on the field less often, which was likely going to be the case anyway, except for now they will have him out there as a decoy less if ever in those spots

But really, the biggest problem with this team is David Caldwell.
This. Now more than ever.

How can you upgrade the defense but give yourself no Plan B at QB and no depth on OL again?

I mean the defense could be special and very exciting but....I'm picturing Malik Jackson getting into a locker room brawl with an OL after the offense screws the pooch again.

So now Branden Albert wants to come back and the Jags have supposedly told him to stay away.

I think it's the right move at this point but the front office obviously did little research before pulling trigger on trade.

Second day of joint practice with Pats has gone as well as yesterday

@ryanohalloran: Bortles 3 of 13 in team so far.

I wonder if you guys who follow the Jaguars much closer than I and likely a lot of people do could visit this thread and perhaps shed some light on which WR, Hurns or Lee is the better blocker and more likely to play in 2 WR sets this year than the other.

Also general view point about the offense and team outlook for fantasy would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hurns is probably viewed as the better blocker between the two, but I image that they really want Lee out there on the field due to what he offers. So it's tough to say who's going to be in 2WR sets. You should probably take into account that he's only been able to complete one full season thus far in his career. And now he's got a high ankle sprain.

Honestly, I would stay far away from this team for fantasy purposes. It's a train wreck waiting to happen due to QB play.

Post-game Marrone opened up QB competition officially.  Bortles is done. No confidence. Teammates have no confidence in him.

You almost have to cut him. If he got hurt in mop up duty, the 5th year option kicks in.

Lost in the QB and K debacle is that both lines were ineffective. No pass rush. I know that missing both corners makes things difficult but Winston had an easy 4 to 5 seconds to throw from a clean pocket repeatedly.

The guard situation is a problem. I thought Cam Robinson looked okay but is still learning.

Bortles is done. I'm thinking he'll end up getting cut prior to the start of the season. He has just continued to spiral out of control. It was like the team had no energy when he was out there. The Jags knew what they had in Bortles and chose not to address the position at all. Even if you hope that he turns it on, you need to have an alternate plan. It's the most important position.

The team looks bad. It's shocking because they pretty much kept the entire staff from a team that won 15 games in 4 years. Bad teams stay bad.

The interior line is another area they didn't adequately address.

What's even worse is that you look around and can make the argument that another historically bad team, the Browns, have 3 QB who could start for the Jags

It's pretty easy to see that the Jags are the worst run organization in the league. There is an equal.

Waiting for the Kaepernick to Jags columns to appear.

That would not go over well in this Navy town.

I can almost hear the talk radio callers:

"Why'd they sign that Commie when they wouldn't give our Timmy Boy a chance?"

I was thinking about this - there are football/money reasons too. I do think Jax is one system (under Marrone) where Kaep would make sense, and obviously they are in need of a QB of his talents. But the Jags have $7 million in cap hit in Bortles and surprisingly $3.5 million in cap hit on Henne (I have no idea how that happened). If they are paying these guys, Henne especially, they might as well play them or keep them on their roster.

Not a Kaepernick fan. I don't agree with what he's doing but think he has every right to do it. I don't want the Jags to sign him but I'm starting to change my mind. Not because I think he is a big enough improvement to make a difference. This way I can turn my back on this team for the season with a clear conscience. Good Lord is this going to be a dumpster fire - again.

Different verse, same as the first. They had the first team OL in there in the 4th quarter and it was having problems against Carolina backups.

Not sure the QB competition could go much worse. Entire offense looked Meh against Carolina first teamers. Bortles is still Bortles. Talk he is going to play them both next week. Not sure what that tells you when Atlanta will be resting whoever.

PATHETIC.

It doesn't matter which QB they go with, this team will suck regardless. We will be picking top 3 again. With all of the high draft choices they've had, it's hard to grasp.

Time for a third rebuild. And this is without even winning following any of those rebuilding efforts.

Caldwell needs to go now and take his joke show front office staff with him. Coughlin can go. The coaching staff needs to go. This is what Shad Khan gets for being too patient. It's detrimental to the success of this team. #### all. #### this team.

@AlfieBCC: "We can't have the quarterback turn it over"

*turns it over during an open competition*

Blake earned the starting job!

@adamlevitan: Jaguars fans are livid because CHAD HENNE wasn't named their Week 1 starter. What a world.

Jags sign former Giant backup QB Ryan Nassib.  Hopefully that means he'll be holding a clipboard in a couple weeks when Bortles is inactive
