***Official Jays Thread*** They spent $234 Million on this? (1 Viewer)

So what the hell do they do now? Romero should be sent down if he hasn't been already. Gonzalez is pretty terrible. Vargas? Bush? Ortiz? Bautista? Man... this is going to get uglier.

ETA: Nevermind. It can't get worse than what Johnson and Romero were giving.

Romero is also delusional ---------------------------------

Just sometimes you dont have that luck on your side. You get two ground balls but they find a hole, and in that situation, you need a double play or something like that and I didnt get it.To those who believe he needed more time in the minors, Romero had a quick reply.I know this is where I belong and Ill continue to say that, he said. I can care less what anyone thinks.

With two off days next week, the jays are using a 4-man rotation over the next couple weeks. I like the move, makes sense given the timing of the off days. I'd probably like it better if 2 of the 4 weren't Mark Buehrle and Ramon Ortiz, but what are you going to do with Happ, Johnson, Romero (Drabek, Hutch), all not available... hopefully JJ comes back when he's eligible from 15 day DL and they can somewhat weather this.

Heading down tomorrow night for a rare chance to see the Giants. Looking forward to this Toronto sports team finding a new way to rip out my heart and piss all over it.

Nice little 2 game sweep of the defending champs, scoring 10+ in each game and now in 3 straight. Now to get some revenge against the Yankees who swept them in 4 last time round.

Toronto looked good against the champs this week.

In other news, Rickey Romero's AAA line today 3.2IP / 4H / 3R /2ER / 6BB / 1K

Call me crazy, but I don't think Nolin is quite ready.

He wasn't quite as bad as it looked though IMO. Hardy's dinger was on a pretty darn good pitch and a couple of the singles were floaters that just found the right spot.

Kawasaki is money. Great 9th inning comeback all around, excluding Lawrie acting like a child, of course.

Geez. Good chance we've seen the last of him.

ETA: Maybe I was wrong. Looks like he is improving:

Romero ended his last outing on four consecutive walks. This time he ends it on three consecutive walks.

:lmao:

In 13 IP in AAA this season, he has a K/9 of 2.08 and a BB/9 of 13.85 for a solid 0.15 K/BB :lmao: I think this guy's done for good.

The Yankees have granted Chien-Ming Wang his release after the right-hander exercised an opt-out clause in his minor-league contract, the team announced. Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the sinkerballer will sign with the Blue Jays and join their rotation next week.Wang, 33, signed with New York at the end of spring training. He went 4-4 with a 2.33 ERA and 58 percent ground-ball rate in 58 innings across eight Triple-A starts before opting out. The Yankees reportedly wanted him to focus on his offspeed pitches since his trademark sinker now sits more 88-90 mph rather than 93-95.
He'll be the twelfth different Blue Jays pitcher to start a game this season.

McGowan may get a start in before Wang's turn

Nah, he'll get hurt before then.

How long we looking at before Reyes is back? What are they saying locally? Just read today he's in Florida to start his simulated games and then off to rehab. Two weeks? ish?

Why would you ever throw Arencibia a strike? He swings at everything.
What an embarrassment last night. 3 ABs with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs. 3 Ks. Time for him to hit the bench and let Thole play.
He's replacement level now according to Fangraphs. One of the worst OBP's in the league and one of the worst defensive catchers in the league can't be redeemed by hitting a few mistake fastballs out of the park.

I'd stick Lind in between Bautista and EE to split up the right hand bats. Teams seem to be bringing in their big power righties to face Bautista and EE. Stick Lind in there and you either force them to burn a lefty on just Lind or it gets EE a chance to face a lefty. That is assuming Lind continues the ridiculous streak he is on.

Petulant child when he comes off the DL

Rogers looking pretty impressive last night and in his last couple abbreviated starts. Wonder if he can hold down a starters spot for the rest of the season.

They'll have an open spot after they trade Buerhle for Ethier, the rumour going around that doesn't make a ton of sense from the Jays perspective

Yeah, thats kind of dumb. Why in the world would they trade Buerhle when they have a make-shift rotation as it is?

And there’s more gold on the Reyes front, as Ben Nicholson-Smith writes at

Sportsnet about John Gibbons’ appearance today on Baseball Central with Jeff Blair and Gregg Zaun:

Even when Jose Reyes returns from his left ankle sprain, the Toronto Blue Jays expect to continue using Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion in the number two and three spots of the lineup.

Love them keeping Bautista in the #2 spot. ETA - Encarnacion is the better power hitter at this point anyway.
