Basically, the rumor is that a WAITER overheard K on the phone at a restaurant. The WAITER claims that Barnes called K (I guess K yelled "HI HARRISON" loud enough for everyone in a restaurant to hear) and K got bad news and was visibly upset.

The mental images I'm getting from this scenario are priceless, especially when I attach K's voice and "I'm pissed at the officials" face to it. Now imagine Dean Smith as the chain-smoking waiter and Gary Williams as the bleary-eyed, I'm-on-my-5th-Scotch maitre d' having seated him.

I think one of those Hitler videos taking off on this would be hilarious. Celph, I'm sure you know of someone who could do this......

Let's see where Barnes ends up first, I'm spending all my dork time currently getting ready for fantasy hoop. Would it be as funny if Hitler = Roy? Roy seems like he's too much of an aw-shucks yokel kind of guy for it to really match up, whereas K's pinched face and dyed/slicked hair has, on previous occasions, reminded me of AH.

Could also do one with Gary Williams in regards to the Rudy Gay thing, but that may be too esoteric for most.As for Barnes - even if he ends up at Duke, it wouldn't take too much to imagine the AH set in a restaurant taking the Barnes-cancelling call.

That depends. I'm a little worried about getting into financial arrangements with a guy who doesn't seem to grasp the notion of "100%." Explain that prediction and we can talk.Also the terms of the proposed bet that YOU made called for nullification of the bet if there were roster changes before the season started, so by your own terms it would be nullified. You know this, as it was in a PM you sent me before the Dawkins news. If you'll admit that, and if it would comfort you in your hour of crisis ... sure, we can put a small sum on this season's results.

i don't think Duke is getting Smith. He doesn't seem like the type of kid that wants to be a backup plan. My guess is he commits to UCONN or Georgetown within a week.

And honestly, getting him wont soften the blow of losing Barnes to UNC at all.

I haven't followed The Poster Who Will Not Be Named's predictions as closely as some of you have. My impression was that his forcasting was accurate, but that he was a major tool. I wasn't aware that his forcasting sucked too.I know this is probably too much to ask, but could some of y'all try just a little harder not to be fished by TPWWNBN? You guys are great posters & I hate to see - though I understand your frustration - good threads devolve into middle school slap-fights with a clown.As for Barnes, congrats to UNC - though that's like (for a MD fan) applauding Saddam for beating out Hitler for a piece of land

New rumor out of the U of Minnesota is that Royce White has been expelled. After getting kicked out of high school his senior year, getting kicked out of a dorm on campus, getting busted shoplifting and assaulting a security guard, and most recently being accused of stealing a laptop, it seems like it's the right move.

Bummer. Big, big, big time talent and huge for the Gophers, but you it's become clear that he's essentially out of control.

Twerps cruised past Charleston Southern last night. Both F bigs played well after overcoming some jitters. Burly 6-10 Jordan Williams went for 12 & 10, and 6-8 leaper James Padgett had 10/8. Vasquez didn't shoot well, though he had 13 assists. Hayes, Mosley, and Milbourne also finished in double figures. In all, a fairly impressive opening.

Dino Gregory is still on indefinite suspension for an unspecified team rule violation. The rumor is that it involves cheating on a test, which would really disappoint me as I've met Dino and he seemed like a really nice kid. The team will also miss him, as he provides a high energy game inside,

On the recruiting trail, 6-8 forward Tobias Harris was in attendence last night. He's from Dix Hills, NY & averages 29 ppg. Any of the recruiting gurus here know anything about him?

ETA: regarding Harris, ESPN's got him interested in MD, Louisville, GT, WV, and one other that's either Texas or Tennessee (can't tell from the symbol ). They give him a grade of 97 & have him as PF #3. Right now (w/o Harris) ESPN has MDs '10 class as #7 for whatever that's worth.
