Sorry to leave so abruptly last night - I lost connection last night to the internet completely. My cable internet just went out, although the TV was still working fine.

Good thing that didn't happen in the middle of combat, I hope my guy wasn't killed prior to the computer logging me out. Grrrrr.....

Hope you enjoy it, Pork. I am gonna work on your next bow for when you hit 31. SHould have 1 shortly.

I have to check the code to see why it's doing that. It just started a week or two ago I think, and I haven't downloaded the script to see why it stopped yet. I'll try to look it over shortly.

added - in the meantime, this link should work, it just has a lot of other crap on the page you need to load:

Link

I have found that at times there is no one on TS but are logged into the game playing, and will jump on TS if someone else joins. So I wouldn't use TS as a sole check to see if someone is on

If anyone else is experiencing crashing problems around Bree or anywhere. They say that running an extended windows desktop across two monitors is a major player in the CTDs. I know many of you do this without a problem but so far it's worked for me to turn it off. So if you haven't had crashes, leave it going, otherwise, consider it.

To expound on what I said last night about Steel Tools and such. here's a few rules of thumb:

1. use bronze tools when harvesting

2. use bronze tools for any crafting below MASTERY of each level, in other words, if you have not MASTERED Expert level, use bronze tools.

The reason being here is that the ONLY benefit the better tools give you is a bonus % to have a critical success in crafting. This doesn't happen in gathering. It also doesn't happen while you're building up your mastery at each tier. They are VERY expensive to repair, so don't damage them unless you're getting some beneft out of it.

I farmed and sent you 85 medium hides GS, that should get you almost there.

I think I found my way to get my black ash, which is way overpriced. Medium hides are at a premium. Stacks sell between 300-350 right now and stacks of yew for 200. I did a time trial in the Fields of Fornost and in 10 minutes did 19 medium hides and 17 yew. So in an hour, I can get 2.5 stacks of medium and 2 of Yew. That is about 1200 silver in an hour, which would get me 2 to 3 stacks or more of black ash, which would easily take much more than that, plus you have the danger factor. I put up 50 hides for 250/300 BIN and want to see how fast it sells for an experiment.

Just to get to the fist level for black ash, i need about another 300 black ash. I cannot even imagine how many I will need for grand master. I am gonna guess 1200 or so.

1 thing I did not include was sale of Barghest and bear stuff I get while hunting, which after 30 minutes amounted to over 200s, so close to 1500 s in an hour if you can take down the beasts in about 2-3 shots. :bowtie:

Incidently, the Yew sold immediately for the 200 BIN price. I am sure I could go up on that. The hides are still there, but given the weekend, I want to get as many of those up asap.

I would say a better hour estimate might be closer to 3 stacks of med's for 900-1050, 1.5 stacks of Yew for 300 and selling stuff for 250-300, giving you 1450-1650 in an hour.

FYI - My stack of 50 sold for 300 within an hour of posting. Gonna bump the price up a bit for the next 2 stacks I have harvested.

I have become a Middle Earth Day Trader. :o

Last night, I found a lot of medium hides, yew wood and lebethron wood that was under what I considered market value, i.e. 300 for stacks of yew and med, 350 for leb. I spent about 2-3 gold buying up the stacks of poorly priced stuff and sold it all. Made 1.4 gold on the deals.

Saw a slashdot thread about this game today, thought I'd pass it along to the FFA LOTRO fans. It's a Q&A with Turbine's CEO regarding a host of topics, including future content and such.

linky

Now for the real test of my fortitude. There were 16 stacks of lebethron wood underpriced by about 1/2. I bought them all. Bought at 200, selling below market at 250/300. Stand to make a lot of cash here. Would be easy to drop down and sell at 250, but let's see what happens.

All my mediums have sold, I think the market is softening on that. Yew wood still seems strong but leb is soft.

If I had to guess, I would say sturdies is the way to go right now and still with yew. Black ash is still very hot, but overpriced.

How's the barrow iron market? I need to buy me some to master metalsmithing.
I consistantly have been able to sell barrow ingots for 5-8 silver apiece. If there are listings for less than 6, I usually sit on it for a few days.ETA** obviously if you need some, I'll swing you a deal. :hot:

Done with barrow iron, spent yesterday mining it. I'm within a level of being able to get a horse and about 10 levels of actually being able to afford it.

:shrug:If you need an interest free loan, I MIGHT be able to swing it. I am spending a lot right now adn not bringing a ton in due to getting a legendary trait.

Hey guys

Just wanted to let you know that Merinurk is taking a little "time out" from the Order of Pilum. I just can't play enough right now to level up and catch up with you guys in the game. A good buddy of mine asked me to join his kinship, which has a bunch of members currently at levels in the teens and twenties, which should make life much easier for me to complete the harder quests and level up.

No hard feelings, I hope. Perhaps once I do finally get into the upper 20's or 30's we can hook up again....

All the best to all the Pilum

Please turn in your  card. J/K, no hard feelings at all, you can still fellowship with us even if you are in a different kinship. Drop us a line sometime.

I'm the guinea pig, it seems, as I'm finishing up installing Vista and am currently downloading all the updates for LOTRO again. Will try it shortly and report back.

added: seems to work just fine - had to reset some of my customized settings like keymappings and video/audio, but much of it remained like I had it. If anything, the colors look a little more vibrant, but that's probably just a video setting that I set differently.

GS - I may need to get resetup in TS, not sure. For some reason I can log in anonymously, but not with my username/password, which I may have forgotten since it's always saved. If you can see it, can you PM me the username/password I sent you, otherwise I'll PM you a new one.

Started Fornost at 9:00PM Last night. Finished up at 4:10AM. I am never going back there again. We did get page drops but for 6 people in 7 hours I got nothing noteworthy, although I did come out with about 1G in cash and prizes.

For the record, you can farm the Ongburz Defiler and Chieftain for about 800s an hour. At 38+ you can solo them easily and they drop 22S each time. By the time you get to 1 and kill him, the other usually respawns.

NP. I might have another for you. Put them in your vault for a few levels. And I guess lebethron was out of the question for my yard, too. :hot:

Got seriously lucky and got Furthest Charge at the AH for 3g. Had sold for 8g easily in past. Now just pg 21 is all I lack.

Did my first raid tonight. Here's a few pictures:

This is the group assembling

This is the actual Elite battle. 120K Morale. I was useless as #### on a bull

Then I went to the Ettenmoors.

I went out of the gates of the stronghold there and was hit by burning arrows after I got about 50 meters from the guards. I turned around to see a Blackarrow named Beguiled and a Warg after me. I dropped to Stealth and ran to the gates.

A few minutes later I went out again stealthed and doubled around. Attacked both the warg and the blackarrow. Just at that time, a 50 Hunter and 50 Minstrel attacked from the opposite direction. I got credit for both kills and subsequently joined their group and travelled all over the ettenmoors looking for solo creeps to "gank". I ended up with 6 kills and no deaths. The leader Silveredge was very good and spilled his guts about how to survive in the Ettenmoors.

As it happens, level 50 players are far superior to starting level 50 monsters, but the Monsters if they play long enough can be much more powerful than the freeps, even becoming elites.

I was decisive in the few battles we had because my Perplexing Riddle can ruin their chance to escape.

How long did the raid take? I was invited to a raid today, but had to pass - that is the Berge-whatever raid, right?
