***OFFICIAL*** March Madness watch thread (2 Viewers)

They can use Timme in the post but can they really afford to keep him out there on the other end?? He's just too slow footed on that end and Baylor's exploiting it over and over (literally every trip down)
Yea Baylor definitely found their mismatch. They’re working him like a mule.

Ball game.

Too athletic. And Gonzaga is never stopping that high screen with Timme. Only thing that'll give Zags a remote shot is if Baylor goes away from it. Doesn't seem they're going to take Timme out. Great gameplanning by Baylor

They have to play zone the rest of the way and hope Baylor cools off - they have a better chance at rebounding now with the bigger two Bears out.
Yep. Probably the only shot. Zags have no alternative to Timme but he's no match to these level of athletes defensively.

Even with 2 bigs out, Bears play a lot bigger and just different level of athletes.

Remember how smooth this Zag offense looked against UCLA?

This Baylor D is just awesome. Forcing A LOT more dribbling and getting Zags off their spots.

LOL at Zags continuing to switch on that screen.  I mean - have you watched the first 30 minutes of this game?
Just remarkable.

And they're switching even when the driving player doesn't ACTUALLY USE the screen.

Zags feet across the board look like they're cemented to the floor. They can't stay in front of anyone.

Not sure what you can do.  You go over, you're gonna get driven on.  You go under, they'll shoot the 3.  When they're stroking it like they are, you're kinda screwed.

They tried that earlier with Timme hedging and they were getting burned with the screener diving to the basket.
Two things they were not doing well, IMO.  Trap it fast and the other 3 guys have to be ready to rotate.  But Zags aren’t used to playing that way and it’s not easy to just change midstream during the final game of the season.  Bears are just better.

Not to mention Baylor has other shooters so you have to be concerned about helping.

Wasn't listening super closely, but did they say they couldn't remember a championship where one team dominated from the start like this? In 2009, UNC led Michigan State 34-11 at one point in the 1st half.

Agree but the idea is to trap it so fast and pressure the man with the ball that they don’t have a clean pass.  Either you get a turnover or make them make a tough pass or one outside of the offense which gives them time to recover.

It’s a moot point - Bears too fast

I think that's another factor.  These are some fast guards.   They were getting by Gonzaga guards going 1v1.

Yep.

I haven't seen a whole lot of him but the obvious physical and game comparison is Brandon Roy. He looks like the only Zag that looks like he belongs on the same court with Baylor.

Suggs looks like a future All-star in the NBA
