***Official Minnesota Vikings Draft Thread*** (1 Viewer)

The one thing that makes me think Troy Williamson is that the Vikings have been trying VERY hard to trade down over the past several days.

Tampa went Cad Williams - Vikes need to be on the phone NOW working the trade down for Williamson, or go ahead and take DJAny chance the Williams would fall to 18?

Please, please, PLEASE don't draft Derrick Johnson! I'd rather "get my Rolle on" than see the Vikings draft DJ at #7 overall..... :X

Who is drafting from 8 to 14 who need a quarterback?Rogers and Williams on the board...I would really like for us to trade down a bit.

whats wrong with DJ? Just curious - I haven't seen a lot of negatives on him.

If Tennessee keeps this pick, they'll take one of the CB's leaving us with Williams or Williamson. If Vikings trade down, they'd have to go no farther than 9 or 10 I think. With the big 3 RBs gone, this makes a possible deal with Bennett to 'zona hopefully.

I keep hearing that he's a great talent chasing guys down from behind, but isn't as solid at attacking points on the line or "head-to-head" tackling. As a Vikings fan, I'm sure we can all agree that we've seen enough "chasing from behind" out of the Vikings linebackers over the past several years to last us a lifetime.... ;)

My dynasty team took a huge hit. I hope this Williamson talk is just talk.1-Mike Willimas2-Derrick JohnsonRolle is better but not at a need position plus I think he ends up at S eventually.I could see us trading with the Redskins depending on the Tenn pick. I hope we don't give up the farm to move up one pick if we try to move up.

  I was thinking the same thing - get either picks or a WR and go DF with this pick - let the veterans they have picked up recently to train the rooks well.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE be Mike Williams. The Moss debacle will at least be put to rest as far as I'm concerned.

Ok, here we go...

Pacman gone! So those who want a quarterback or are higher on Williams than we are, will hopefully be calling the Vikings to offer the farm.

Predict everything so you are correct either way...

However, The Vikings are usually conservative on draft day...I suspect we sit tight and select Williamson. A trade down a few spots would be outstanding...now I am getting a gut feeling we may go defense.

the Williamson thing just a smokescreen to ensure that Williams slips?I would be happy with Williams or tradedown or DF.

And the Superstar is a moron. Somebody shut him up. Crowd at Winter Park is not happy. PA reminding them many wanted Suggs over K. Williams last year.

Could be nice for Burleson to have a "burner" on the other side to stretch the field. Plus he won't lose as many red-zone looks as he would have if they had gone BMW.

Unfortunately we covered the Williams \\ Williamson stuff before today.Lets move on to pick #18...I am definitely hoping for Merriman or Erasmus to fall.

 This is very good for Burleson from a FF perspective (probably from an NFL perspective as well)

Sigh. A questionable pick at a questionable slot. I agree that from a FF perspective this selection improves the stock of Burleson while the selection of Mike Williams probably would have lowered his stock. BTW- Was that well spoken guy on ESPN Mike Tice? Now I've seen it all. Oh well, I'll support this team regardless, and that goes without saying.

I wanted Mike Williams but Williamson has impressive stats. 6'1" 201 lbs and a legit 4.31 40 yard dash. He sounds good but I was hoping we could trade down. I am just reminding myself I felt the same way after we got Kevin Williams. I wanted Trufant. Williamson is going to be a good player for us. DE at 18??

I love this pick for the Vikings, a speedy WR who did next to nothing in college but drop a lot of passes and run a fast 40 time. This guy looks to be the second coming of Donte Stallworth, a bust who goes way to high based on his speed alone. WR Randy Moss for MLB Nap Harris and WR Troy Williamson :D :P :D Looks like the Vikes will finish second to the Pack again this year. I cant wait for this guy to flop and then when MW makes multiple Pro Bowls I can laugh at the Vikes draft.

:lmao:

Tice just gave the thumbs up to Nugent on KFAN radio - not sure if that means they are taking him at #2, but with all the talk of NOT taking him, it makes me think they are.

How did you guys do in the playoffs? You better remember it well because after this year you won't be there for half a decade. Williamson is going to score 3 times against the packers this year.

Williamson plays WR? Hows it going to take those 3 Brett Favre interceptions to the house from the bench? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Troy Williamson would not even see the field for the Pack this guy will not even get 3 scores FOR THE SEASON. (No need to include the playoffs since the Vikes will not even come close)

How's that Punter you guys traded up for last year working for you?

Impressive stats. Humm...How do GM's keep their jobs? The ignore reality and get tantalized by measureables. And then they wonder why they don't make the playoffs.

Williams was the smart pick who presents an impact in year one. The Vikings chose to go with a project who is not ready to start. Very odd.

Kevin Wiliams was a project as well.... :lmao: @ couch potatoes questioning one of the better drafting teams over the past three seasons.

Nice call on the pick Blue Onion. I think you are right that from a team perspective we needed a vertical threat. This means that they expect Burleson to be a fixture for the next 5-10 years.I will give the scouting staff the benefit of the doubt on this one. Playing golf with one of the senior scouts on Fri. I will see what he says.

I liked Kevin Williams, and di not consider him a project.Face it, Minny made a stupid pick. All teams do it. Just because they've made other smart picks does not mean they made right decision here. I simply call 'em as I see 'em.

:lmao: Packers will be lucky if they finish second this year.Well I told ya my source was good on Williamson. Besides don't we have enough Williams' on the team already? :lmao: I predict either Robinson or Taylor are late cuts (or traded) in camp.As for Shawne Merriman, I think Dallas goes after him now.Up next for the Vikings at 1.18 I'd think would have to be one of the DE's/OLB who can go after a QB.

I am sure he will speak highly of Wiliamson because he has\had a vested interest in how the Vikings do. But I would love to hear your recap.

Tough to say it was a stupid pick before the guy ever hits the field.

TO be sure, I'm not as high on Williamson as others, and I have close friends who think he'll be great.I just think he's very rough around the edges and is not ready to make any kind of impact. I think Williamson is a bit of a project who will need a few years to be a good player. This is typical for most WR's, and I think Williamson will be good. ButI just think Williams will be great and be so right away.No doubt many people see Williams differently than I do. But that doesn't change how I feel.
