***Official Minnesota Vikings Draft Thread*** (1 Viewer)

TO be sure, I'm not as high on Williamson as others, and I have close friends who think he'll be great.

I just think he's very rough around the edges and is not ready to make any kind of impact. I think Williamson is a bit of a project who will need a few years to be a good player. This is typical for most WR's, and I think Williamson will be good. ButI just think Williams will be great and be so right away.

No doubt many people see Williams differently than I do. But that doesn't change how I feel.

Williams to Detroit is tough. That should be a tough offense to stop if Harrington ever gets it. I have Thomas Jones and Charles Rogers on my dynasty team. Couple that with the so-so Williamson pick and this hasn't been a kind day so far. Off to the basement for more beer. If I'm not buzzed by the #18 pick it is noone's fault but my own.SKOL

I really like Erasmus, but those who have followed him more than I have really question his durability. Personally, I love his size and explosive first step. Him, Udeze and Scott competing for two spots is a huge :thumbup: in my opinion. But if we got Spears, same-same. SKOL!

 
Derrick Johnson is slipping but I think Houstin traded down to take him before us. Spears is similar to Udeze so I hope we pass on him. Erasmus James? Thomas Davis is someone I heard the Vikes are VERY high on.

 
We don't need Mike Williams to win the game through the air! Why? because we will draft Nugent in the 2'nd round and he will carry us to wins through the air by using his foot! :D

 
I don't get this pick. Min seemed to be pretty well set at DT.(said a Kevin Williams dynasty owner)

Having a great front 4 can make the rest of the defense a LOT better as the play breaks down more often. I would be happy with a DLineman

 
Tice had interviews where he said we could get a 1st next and an early 2nd this year for the #18. I hope we can do that. Cleveland or Tampa Bay for Aaron Rodgers.Pollack over James or Spears would make this the most disappointing draft foe me ever. Granted I have only watched big time since 1996. But at least Pollack is at a need position.If KFAN gets it right I am impressed. they said Williamson, Pollack, and Nugent at the begginning of the day.

A stupid Pick would have been a kicker or Punter. Drafting a WR, Whether it be Williams or Williamson fills a Need.. :thumbup:

I myself would have rather had Williams as I believe he could have been #2 WR opposite Buerlson on Week 1.

But He will be a Good #3 -/ #4 to start the season and most of all, when he is on the field will keep the safety's back, opening up the running game and short pasing to TE's. :thumbup:

I agree, I love this pick. James is a health risk but even when he's not healthy this team can use Johnstone on passing snaps. This was a better pick than Spears/Cody because James, when healthy, just explodes at end.

I have been very impressed with this guys first step out of the blocks. For a big man, he is very explosive.

Truly expecting the Vikes to go after the Kicker Nugent(sp??) They would like to wait to the 3rd round to get him, but they've added WR(a need), Added a Pass rusher(a Need) :thumbup:

The Last 2 "needs" I see is a LB and a Kicker that we can count on to kick FG's further than 35 yards, and not need a Kick-off Specialist..

 
I also think they should maybe take a risk and go Nugent in round 2. No other player in the draft could be a game breaker or game maker in 2005 like Nugent could.

apparantly Tice made a kicking motion when he walked away from his post pick interview after 18 . . . another hint their going Nugent in rnd 2? (added: right after they asked him about Nugent)Too bad everyone else probably knows this too.

Elton Brown or David Baas or Chris Spencer in round 2. I want Nugent but an OG allows us to solidify our OL. James is an injury risk but we just really improved this teams pass rush. Pat Williams played 58% of the sanps last year. This allows him to sit on 3rd down. Plus that bum Darrion Scott isn't the starter. 3rd down against the pass James, Mr. Kevin Williams, Udeze, Johnstone3rd down against the run Udeze, Williams-2, Scott

Rogers is a Packer - does this mean less of a dropoff when Favre hangs em up? He now has a year or two to learn the system before having to start - great situation for him - hate to see the Pack get that kinda value at their pick though.

 
Ha ha ha @ the Pack going backup QB with all those defensive needs. Really bad pick if you ask me. 2 division rivals (Detroit/GB) with virtually wasted 1st rounders makes me feel better about the Vikes getting coverage at areas of need.

This is outstanding, we can still anticipate 3 to 5 interceptions from Mr. Favre for our two games again.

I'm hopeful that a dramatically improved defense can stop Ahman Green enough as well.May be a tough year for me to root for both teams.

 
What roster spots to the Vikings still have available? I am starting to think another linebacker who could immediately contribute on special teams and add competition for a linebacker spot.

Safety, given the talk that they'll ditch Chavous, unless you're a big Willie Awful fan, and maybe guard unless they bring back Big Dave Dixon.Oh, and Kicker.
