***Official MLB 2013 Season Thread (2 Viewers)

Am I really arguing with someone that the Houston Astros don't have a terrible starting lineup?

Outside of them being 16th in the league in runs scored after 1 month of the season (which is now 19th, combined with them playing most games of anyone outside Seattle), do you have anything to back up this claim? I'll even help you start, Jose Altuve is a solid hitting 2B.

If you think being 16th out of 30 is terrible i dont know what to tell you
Comparing AL offenses to NL offenses in terms of runs scored is obviously dumb.

In the AL they are 12 out of 15 in runs per game. 12 out of 15 in OPS+.

They are terrible. They do hit a lot of doubles though.

Alright, but even then, 3 teams are worse than them. I don't think anybody is saying Houston is good. Just that they aren't as bad as everyone jokes about here. If they are terrible then what does that make Toronto, Chi Sox and Seattle?

Victims of small sample sizes? Do you believe Houston is going to out hit Toronto all year?

19th in the majors in OPS  below average offense and they strike out a TON but there are 11 teams in the majors with a lower OPS. They are not the obvious stream everyone thought they were the first week of the season.

Maybe not Toronto, but certainly they could outhit Seattle and nobody would be surprised. Yet, we don't get updates every time Seattle is shut out do we? I think that is our main point.

It wouldn't surprise me if Houston wasn't the worst offense in the AL. Meanwhile, it would surprise me if the Fish don't finish dead last in the NL. And I'm sure there is a metric to compare league performance in which case I'm sure Houston will outpace the Fish.

I've always felt like NL teams have more bright, crisp color schemes. A lot of drab going on in the AL.

That's the biggest difference I can think of.

To any and all that mentioned Cashner in the streaming thread, I hope you all find yourselves on the wrong side of a patented woz 2oz stream.

Roy Halladay provided few clues of injury
Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay said he started experiencing pain in his right shoulder only after his fifth start April 24 against Pittsburgh, but did not alert team officials of any discomfort until after Sunday's rocky outing. Halladay has made two starts since that no-decision against the Pirates, including Sunday, and allowed 17 runs with six walks and just seven strikeouts over six total innings.

"I thought it was kind of regular soreness," Halladay told the Philadelphia Inquirer on Sunday. "It's not something that I had before. "It's something new this year. I felt good all spring, felt good all year, I just got up after that start in Pittsburgh and had soreness and just wasn't able to get rid of it."

Halladay, whose start Sunday against Miami was his worst since his rookie season, has given up at least five earned runs in four of his seven starts for an unsightly 8.65 ERA. He also hit two batters with pitches and threw another behind a batter, raising alarms of a possible injury.

"It's kind of progressed over the last two weeks or so. It's right shoulder soreness, and I'm going to have it looked at in the next few days," Halladay said. "Once we get more information back, we'll obviously let people know what's going on."
Wow, thanks a lot Roy.

I hate h2h points so much. I think this season is going to be the end of it for me.

After 5 weeks, I have the most points out of the 12 teams.

If you breakdown my all-play record each week, out of 55 possible matchups, there has only been 13 that I could have lost all season.

Somehow, I'm 2-3

Feel the same way about all fantasy sports. Roto isn't as exciting but is more fair. Maybe the answer is a roto league with H2H playoffs or something like the Play All features or play 1 team and the league average.

shady - please think about the one major difference between the AL and NL. Thanks
The first letter?
Pretty sure he's talking about the Canadian team.

I may not live long enough to see Logan Morrison come off the DL

63 mph is kind of fast for an Eephus pitch. Rip Sewell named it in a pre-radar gun era but Dave LaRoche's version ("La Lob") was clocked at around 50 mph.

Arroyo with a back to back curves at 68 and 67 MPH. Fun pitching match-up.

Arroyo might get 15 Ks tonight.

:excited:

Dozier gets knocked down with a fastball that whizzed by his head. Next pitch... game-tying HR.

That's how you answer that!

Embarrassing effort by Doumit in LF.

OH NO.... IT'S THE GREEN MONSTER!

No big deal... it only cost your team the game.
