One of the benefits of being a GT fan - I don't have to follow this nonsense. I know we aren't in contention for any highly ranked players. Its ridiculous that grown men will say things like that about kids. Happens all over. Absurd.Watching the fallout from losing Fowler on the LSU boards is making me embarrassed to follow this stuff. Grown men shouting in unison about how trashy the family is because the kid picked the home school. Sure, he could have given LSU coaches a heads up, but this is recruiting, and this is how it goes sometimes. Some of the things being said are just pathetic. Predictable, but pathetic.
I wish I didn't know anything about recruiting. This is one area where the internet has made my life a lot worse.

He's a ####, but he's also the best football coach I've ever seen. Congrats, Michigan! It's amazing what Harbaugh has been able to accomplish at Michigan in such a short time frame.
I don't know what it's called, but he used that rule that if they enrolled early they could count against last year's total...is that grayshirting? They had less than 20 in last year's class if I remember correctly.True. Also noticed that he signed 29, and seemed to be using greyshirting...hmm.It's amazing what Harbaugh has been able to accomplish at Michigan in such a short time frame.
Grayshirting is they enroll next January I believeI don't know what it's called, but he used that rule that if they enrolled early they could count against last year's total...is that grayshirting? Then I am not aware of any grayshirts on this team. I'm not a big fan of how some of the late shenanigans went down and the parting of ways so late in the process, but that wasn't grayshirting.Grayshirting is they enroll next January I believeI don't know what it's called, but he used that rule that if they enrolled early they could count against last year's total...is that grayshirting? Had to go look it up and learned there is also a blueshirtGray shirt has nothing to do with the previous year but rather the next. Kid basically doesn't enroll until next January and their eligibility doesn't begin until then. Basically the schools who can pick whatever recruit they want do it to 3-stars so they don't count against their scholarship cap this year.

Seriously....WTF is wrong with the NCAA??yeah, knew about that one. thanks!Pretty sure there is also a "redshirt" category.
Hoke had the #5 and the #7 recruiting classes in 2012 and 2013, RichRod had two top ten recruiting classes also. It's amazing what Harbaugh has been able to accomplish at Michigan in such a short time frame.
That's not true. There's not a big difference between 1 and 7, but there's a huge difference between 5 and 25.Hoke had the #5 and the #7 recruiting classes in 2012 and 2013, RichRod had two top ten recruiting classes also. It's amazing what Harbaugh has been able to accomplish at Michigan in such a short time frame.
This is exactly the reason I don't blink an eye at any of this recruiting nonsense. As long as you're in the top 30 or so, it rarely matters.

There're a million studies on how generally accurate recruiting rankings are, but here's the latest article:No, no there isn't. Try and prove me wrong. That's not true. If you want we can start with ESPN 300 players who were All NFL this year.
That article says finishing in the top 20 is crucial, yet you seem to believe there is a huge gap between 5 and 25. There isn't. Look at the right side of that graph where MSU, Baylor, and Stanford are...and where Texas, Michigan, and USC aren't. I'm not saying the rankings are meaningless, I'm saying you thinking Michigan's #5 ranking this year is in any way special or unique, well it isn't. They finish top ten all the time, so does Notre Dame and Texas. What matters is that you have the administration, the support, and the coaching to make that product work on the field. There're a million studies on how generally accurate recruiting rankings are, but here's the latest article:No, no there isn't. Debunking Recruiting Myths
at "a million studies."Imagine what he could do at Ole Miss! It's amazing what Harbaugh has been able to accomplish at Michigan in such a short time frame.

Didn't follow it closely, but wasn't there a kid or two Harbaugh asked to push a semester who got mad and de-committed? That's usually what happens and outsiders who don't understand it get bent out of shape.I don't know what it's called, but he used that rule that if they enrolled early they could count against last year's total...is that grayshirting? There was a kid, forget his name, who was offered a grayshirt (either this year or last) right out of the gate and he chose to go elsewhere. Some of the decommits this year saw the writing on the wall, a couple left with relatively sour grapes, but apparently didn't hold up their end of the bargain. That Swensen kid decided not to camp for this staff and relied on his senior tape as his evaluation. The staff didn't like the lack of improvement, so they parted ways. I wasn't a big fan of how it looked initially. Don't think any of them were offered scholarships then flipped to grayshirt offers though.Didn't follow it closely, but wasn't there a kid or two Harbaugh asked to push a semester who got mad and de-committed? My point is, the level of complaining about things like that and # of signees shows people understand what it takes to manage a roster in today's world. It's not just Nick Satan doing it. And thank god we don't have to listen to any rhetoric from Delaney.
So what does the kid do for a year? Do they go to a community college? Can they practice with the team?Gray shirt has nothing to do with the previous year but rather the next. Train for a semester...often greyshirts are coming off injury. Work. Enroll on your own dime if you can afford it. It's a semester, not a year.So what does the kid do for a year? yeah....those two came out of the blue or I wasn't paying attention. Why would thy have had to grayshirt him? Of the class, 7 count towards last year. Sorry if stupid question, but I really have no idea how how this nonsense works. There is a yearly cap and a total cap. Gotta abide by both
You guys are really doing a nice job putting a target on your back.Hackett (former Michigan AD) is suggesting Gary was offered "incentives" during recruiting. He had officials to Ole Miss, USC, Auburn, Clemson....was down to Michigan and Clemson.![]()
