No dog in the fight but Seattle is just a tad bit cocky. I want a feisty old school football game with lots of extracurricular nastiness.

Sf 22

Sea 19

SF can't afford to get off to a slow start like they did in ATL last year during the NFC Championship! Falling behind in Seattle is game over, there is no coming back from that.
NO fell behind 16-0 and almost pulled it off.
Not really. Seattle controlled the entire game, having 15 seconds to score eight points in the 4th quarter with 55 yards to go is not "almost" pulling it off. If you think it is, then the Panthers almost pulled off the game today.
Doesn't matter what the circumstances were. Point is they were close enough to pulling it off to make a statement like "SF cant afford to get off to a slow start" incorrect. SF had a slow start the last 2 games and did just fine. If they keep SEA under 20 points which is perfectly doable, they have a legit shot.
I'll take less than 20 from the Hawks. 40 Whiners scored a total of 17 the last two trips to Seattle COMBINED.

I'm not optimistic this thread goes better than the Saints thread did anymore

Does your job require you to wear a name tag?

Seattle is a great team and their stadium is possibly the most difficult place to play.

The bottom line is simple; If SF doesn't bring their absolute A game, this will get ugly!

Harbaugh has enough cockiness to go around, Kaepernick pointed to the scoreboard today too. So I guess it evens out in the end.

Yup. And if Seattle doesn't bring their A game, their season will probably end.

It's really an exceptional matchup. If I weren't a fan of these teams I'd be excited to watch it. Probably more so than I am.

Should be a great game. Lynch is all-world right now but the 49ers will focus on him and force Wilson to pass - where they are not very strong even with Harvin back.

New Orleans showed that a committment to the run did work somewhat - even without Pierre Thomas - so I think that Gore could have some success on the ground for SF. And their passing game is just much more dynamic with Boldin, Crabtree and, for my money the best playoff tight end in the business right now, Vernon Davis.

Niners 24-21.

I'm just not buying this. No way does this game get ugly, as in a blowout. It will get ugly in other ways, but this will be a close game.

I've watched every second of the last two SF games in Seattle... When they're in the PNW, the Hawks unfortunately have their number... If they aren't playing at their highest level, it'll get ugly quick!

Kaepernick can't throw his way back into a game in that environment against such a tough pass D. If Seattle gets up two scores again it will snowball (just as it has the last couple of games up there).

I've watched nearly every second of every Seahawk game for the past 37 years, let alone the past two. Yes, SF has imploded in the past 2 regular season games in Seattle, much due to great Seahawk play, but I don't think that will happen next week. These teams are very evenly matched and SF has played just a bit better than Seattle the past few weeks. This will be a 3 point game, either way.

I don't know what the MNF game where Bo ran into the tunnel 25 years ago has to do with this one... If SF falls behind early, it'll get ugly... No team in the NFL is equipped to to come back in Seattle and SF has shown they can let it get away when playing there. Furthermore, they've been notoriously slow starters in the playoffs over the last two years which just adds to the element of danger in this game.

Seattle banning ticket sales to CA for the game is just silly, I wonder if stub hub gets a kick back from all the Niner fans forced to buy their tickets that way.

That was a great run by Bo. And it has just a little bit less to do with this upcoming game than the 42-13 Seattle win in 2012. The 29-3 game in Seattle this year might carry a bit more weight but likely is only motivating to the Niners. The fact that SF has played noticeably better than Seattle over the last month, both at home and on the road, is a much bigger factor. Both defenses are great. The SF offense has been better recently. Seattle is at home. This will be a close game.

They're rolling
SF was rolling last season when they came to Seattle and got blown out. Kap was coming off his best game ever as a passer when they came to Seattle this year and got blown out.

I don't think Seattle blows them out in this game with what their offense has been doing the last month, but Seattle needs some offense that isn't Lynch. I'm glad this game is in Seattle.

The game last year with a Super Bowl bound SF team and this year where they are NFC Championship bound look like a shell of themselves both times they played in Seattle. The rosters were very similar too! If they fall behind early, it can get ugly, I think this is more of a fact than a debate. Seattle is the hardest place to play in the NFL & my fear as a niner fan is this will make a world of difference in this game, especially for a team that of late that has shown an inability to play there.

Seattle also gets the added benefit of playing yesterday. The Niners will have to travel home then travel to Seattle. It shouldn't make too much of a difference but the time to prepare is definitely in Seattle's favor.

I'll quit arguing with you. I hope you're right and that SF ####s the bed in Seattle again leading to a blowout. Not likely.

I hope I'm wrong, but I find it hard to think a 3 point game here is a guarantee.

There is a better chance of Canada invading the U.S. this week, than there is of this game being a blowout.
Until the 49ers don't get blown out in the Kaepernick/Wilson, Harbaugh/Carroll era, you'll have a tough time defending this statement.

I think the 49ers are capable of winning, but they'll have to be near-flawless. Just like I thought New Orleans was capable, but they weren't flawless. (If they convert those field goals and not fumble, *maybe* they win the game. I'm not saying 100% they would have, but a win would have been plausible.)

That's the thing about beating Seattle at home. The team and 12th Man goes nuts whenever an opponent screws up. Hence, you've got to be pretty close to perfect.

I don't think Seattle blows them out in this game with what their offense has been doing the last month, but Seattle needs some offense that isn't Lynch. I'm glad this game is in Seattle.
I think this is fair. I'd feel a lot better if the game were in SF.

If the game was in SF I'd call it a pick em, maybe favor SF by 1 or 2. In Seattle, I feel like they should be getting at least 5-6.

I like how you created a nice little cubbyhole to put your argument in by having Kaepernick/Wilson in there. 49ers won two years ago in Seattle, in December. Past results don't necessarily guarantee future returns anyway, it will be a one score game on Sunday IMO.

Also if Canada invades the U.S. this week, I'm right anyway.

I'm not going to argue strongly against you... in the 2012 December loss the 49ers had already clinched and had come off a major road win the week prior against the Patriots. Seattle destroyed them. And early this year, there was no real WR outside of Boldin. (Manningham and Crabtree were still out.) IMO anything earlier than those two aren't relevant.... the further you go back in history, the more both teams have changed since today.

Still, until it actually happens, I'm wary of saying it won't again.

But I hope you are right that it's a one score game. I'll keep an eye out for CANSOFCOM (Canadian Special Forces) mobilizing near the border. ;)

seahawks off to a good start with an arrest already!
