***Official*** NFL Draft Thread 2005 (2 Viewers)

I still maintain that Favre, being just 44 TDs away from Marino's record, will stay two more years to pass him. He's 11,627 yards from Marino's passing yards mark, so he won't get that anytime soon.

Just not sure if it's worth drafting Rodgers if he doesn't even START until 2007.
I thought the same thing about Barry Sanders and Payton's record.

Does Patrick Ramsey possibly get dealt today?
 Campbell isn't ready and I doubt they want to go back to Brunell at this point.
They surely cant think they can compete with Ramsey...not if they are trading future years picks to trade up to get Campbell.Brunell is still making a huge sum of money. Hes not going to be a #3.

he should be collecting a pension. As for figuring out Snyder's plans...I gave up on that a long time ago.

Heath Miller is still on board...curious to see where he falls.
Steelers, IMO
That would certainly be a depart from the norm for Pittsburgh to take a player who can't block.
Miller is underrated as a blocker, IMO. But, his hands and receiving ability would certainly offset the loss of Burress.I think the kid has Todd Heap ability.

Cris Carter just said Jones would have been a top 10 pick if he was black.
I agree. I also think that he'd have been a top-10 pick if he'd played WR in college.Colin
:lmao: I don't get this. He's fast and tall. :stillers: He's never played WR on a meaningful level, we have no idea how he catches the ball, no idea how he runs routes and no idea if he can go over the middle and make a big catch.

Absolutely a horrible selection. Jacksonville fans should be swan-diving off Alltel today.

Coaches have plenty of tape of Jones playing WR in college and at the Senior Bowl.

Great pick by the Falcons. Spencer is going to be good.EDIT: Oops, wasn't paying attention to who was on the clock. I'm not as crazy about this pick for Seattle.

Plenty?Last I checked, he was throwing the ball most of the time in college, and one exhibition game tells you ####.

These guys get too tied up in measurables and numbers. That's how Williamson goes over BMW, despite Mike being a far better fundamental wideout...but a tenth of a second slower on the .40 time.

Jacksonville, say hello to Mike Mamula for me.

I'm sure you know more about Matt Jones than the guys who scouted him and drafted him.EDIT TO ADD: Most of the time he was throwing in college? So you really havent seen him play then...

That's as naive as saying that every draft pick is good because they were drafted by pro scouts. It was only one team that took him, not every team that scouted him.

How about Heath Miller to the Falcons?  Vick can hit TEs.
 Crumpler was signed to a long-term deal last year.
Amazingly enough, sometimes teams put 2 TEs on the field at the same time. And in some really silly offenses, their base set is run with two TEs.Not saying its likely, just throwing it out there as a possibility.

Just remember these errors we all make guys. ;)You think its tough here to not make mistakes, imagine doing this sort of stuff on live TV.That's why I cut guys like Chris Berman slack for forgetting the Dolphins got back into the 2nd round by trading Surtain.

As well as what "fundamentals" Minn was looking for in a WR.Did you ever think that maybe the main fundamental Minn was looking for WAS a speedy deep threat?

So that's your answer to every selection then? There's never been a first round bust because these guys are infallible? :hophead: Get out of here with that garbage. They selected a college quarterback to play WR in the NFL because he's speedy. Last I checked, nobody is running a track team here.

Stupid. How do you leave a polished receiver like Clayton on the board for some guy who's going to get lit up.

Not the point i was making. Capella says we can't tell anything from the game film teams have on Jones, and that he is being drafted on only measurables. He hasnt seen these films, or what they are basing his selection on.

GB fans are funny... :lmao:

You guys really think you were only 1 D player away from being a SB team.

Rodgers was the best pick for this FRANCHISE, maybe not next year. I didn't know drafts were built around 1 season goals though.
Your from Detroit and have yet to make a Super Bowl. Plus you have drafted 3 WR's in a row in the first round. Someone tell Matt Millin that it is easy to find a WR!When is the last time the Lions have won the central???
