***Official*** NFL Draft Thread 2005 (1 Viewer)

Vikings got the only A+ so far for Williamson

Lions got a D for M. Williams :P

KC got a C for DJohnson

not so sure about the writer, and it's early to be grading the draft, but though you'all would enjoy picking it apart.
So the Cowboys get 2 of the top 5 de players and the average is a B? That makes no sense. Who didn't know Dallas was going for def help? They walked away with 2 studs. Does this guy write for Nickelodeon the Magazine? :clyde:

Steelers may have grabbed the SOD there. Can't believe how far Miller slipped. I think the Jets ####ed up badly by trading out of that spot for Doug Jolley  :X
Possible. The Jets have had terrible luck drafting TEs of late, and they're certainly in a win now mode. Do you think Jolley would have a bigger impact this year for the Jets than Miller?
I think Jolley is a mediocre TE at best, and Heath Miller has Pro Bowl potential. When I watch Miller he play, he catches absolutely everything and is very difficult to cover. He'll make an impact right away.

Local radio coverage in Cleveland is scheduled to end at 6PM, in about 9 minutes. Browns are 3 picks away from picking again. :lmao:

Later dudes...the measureables are calling. 5'6", 125, 20" vertical, 135 bench press, 36C, natural blonde. Unfortunately not much potential at QB...throws like a girl and wrong race for a WR/RB. :P

I don't understand the Chiefs grade. What else were they supposed to do there?

If Hines Ward could go from being a college QB to Pro Bowl WR, why not Matt Jones?
Ward had over 100 catches for 1600+ yards his last 2 years in college. His sophomore year is the only year where he played QB full time.Huge difference.
OK. I'm just saying it's not impossible to project a player to a different position. It's risky, for sure...but, it's not like it's never been done.Kordell Stewart probably would have made a great WR as well if he was more willing to switch positions.
The difference is that you have the opportunity to see 2 years worth of film (instead of a week at Mobile) of him playing the position with real bullets flying. You have a much better chance to evaluate his route running, separation, hands other other skills particular to the position. You can draft based on observed skills instead of simply "potential".
don't get me wrong...I'm not defending the pick. I think it was a reach and not even a huge need after they went WR in the 1st round last year.but, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Jones does well.

Like I said, it's a risky pick. But, everybody ripped the Bills when they took McGahee a couple years ago and that turned out swell. You just never know.

Yeah I thought they got a steal in DJ at 15.

Jones may or may not work out, I was just pointing out that the Hines Ward comparison is not a good one due to his experience playing the position.

Okay Canada now has no TV coverage of the draft so fill us Canucks in.So far I'm a bit disappointed in lack of trades. I guess there will be some movement with players like Travis Henry later on tonight.

sucks for you guys...but I'd kill for the hockey coverage you get.no chance of seeing the World Championships down here. :sadbanana:

:goodposting: the Jets could have really gotten what they needed here at a great value. Oakland did well moving up to get a good corner.

Aaron, wanna hear a funny about the World Championships? Some (I believe) hockey equipment company (V-Tech)is running a contest that IF some player scores FIVE goals in one game during the tourney, someone could win $1 million. :lmao: Anyway, so it's 10 minutes per pick in round 2 and 5 for every other round, right?

That would mean having to visit the States.. :bag: jk! Closest for me is Buffalo..I think I will rely on Nfl.com and FBG.

I always find it amazing that an nice OL prospect seems to get picked JUST BEFORE my Browns are on the clock.

Khalif Barnes is steal. Browns still need an OT?EDIT: nm. Safety was a good pick.

:lmao:  :stillers:
:hot: Sounds like a nice one too. Tireless worker, just maybe not the prototype player. Those guys always pan out it seems.
Ya know sometimes I actually do feel bad for Clev and those Oline/Dline woos. I mean nothing seems to be working out for them. Come to think of it..... nah, I don't feel bad about it. :football:

Hummmm, surprised the went with Poole over Barnes, but he and Jones should make for a nice backfield for some years.
