YESSSSSSSSSSSSS

Take Mike Williams Minny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I wouldn't be that thrilled considering the team that used to employ his OC just passed on him.
they can get a decent WR later...I don't think the pick is a knock on Williams at all. CB was just a bigger need.
I'm not saying MW is going to be a bust, but this certainly raises an eyebrow for me. You'd have to imagine the Titans GM had a lot of questions to ask Chow about Williams, and at the very least Chow wasn't overwhelmingly convincing about Williams. Maybe he told hime Williams was a product of his offense, Williams looks out of shape compared to how he used to look, Williams has attitude problems, etc.Drafting for need is overrated. The Titans have been pretty good drafters historically too. But I could be way off here, and I admit that.

Are the Vikes gonna be late with their pick again?
Congratulations, you are the 1,000,001 person to use that joke at FBG, just missing the BIG prize to Bass N Brew, please see a mod to get the consolation prize.

You've won a gift certificate to all participating Red Lobster restaurants

You're just jealous that you didn't beat it to death first.

An OC who is in his first year in the NFL, working under one of the longest tenured coaches in the league, who also happened to play in the NFL and one of the better GMs in the league is not going to dictate who that team takes with their 1st round pick.

Chow could cheerlead for MW all he wants, but Fisher and Reese are going to take the player they felt would help the team the most. Chow likely wouldn't be the most objective evaluator of Williams either.
I agree with you that the Titans front office is top notch. Because of that, they'd be silly to not listen very closely to what Chow had to say.I'm not really sure why you don't think Chow would be objective...I'm simply saying that if I was the GM of the Titans, I'd really want to know everything about Williams that I could. Maybe Chow talked him up, but they fell in love with Jones. And that's very possible. But for me at least, this is a red flag for MW.

Rood,

I think we are the only 2 to have nailed the top 5 in the U of HE NFL draft contest.

 :goodposting:
Our next 2 are the same as well, difference is I have Rodgers giong to Zona at 8, you have Pac man.We may be neck and neck the whole 1st round.

Great part is, I'm downing Sierra Nevada's at an alarming rate, so it's win-win for me today!
Are you guys looking at the other page as well? SaveFerrisB also got the first 5 correct.

Chow is the new guy there. What credibility does he have as a player evaluator? As for red flags about MW, he's had them for years, IMO. Nothing surprising to me about teams passing on him.

Top Notch? They have lots of tenure but no championships.

If anything, they aren't getting the job done. Winning regular-season records mean nothing.

Torry Holt just called Williamson to Minnesota......Maybe there's more to this than we thought. I still think they grab Mike Williams...On a side note, whadup with Hodge's hair? Has he been getting grooming advice from the Donald?

What were the total offense and total defense rankings last year for the Titans?Weren't they close to a top 10 in offense and near the bottom of the league at defense last year?

That could explain the Pac-Man pick

Aaron you've no doubt followed Mike Williams more than I have. <Minnesota selects Troy Williamson>

<this continues the red flag watch for me on MW>

But I don't think the fact that Chow is the "new guy" is a bad thing. Tennessee went after Chow, because of his reputation. They wanted him. Now that they have him, they're not going to listen to him?

They consistently draft better than any other team in the league. Salary cap problems have now caught up to them though.

TROY WILLIAMSON WR U of S.CAROLINA

Fast WR, can beat u with his speed
Wow, these jokes have been played out. Usually I am the last one sick of overplayed songs or overused jokes and I am officially sick of these Minn draft jokes.

So, who's going to get Mike Williams?Salsbury throwing into the rafters? The play was probably a 6 yard out pattern....Talk about a guy that needs to ####

What were the total offense and total defense rankings last year for the Titans?

Weren't they close to a top 10 in offense and near the bottom of the league at defense last year?

That could explain the Pac-Man pick
Total Offense: 10thTotal Defense: 27th

Perhaps a little bit more relevant:

Defensive Yards Per Pass Attempt allowed rank: 30th

Defensive Touchdowns allowed rank: 25th

Defensive Interceptions rank: 14th

Offensive Yards per Pass Attempt rank: 21st

Offensive Touchdown passes rank: 8th

Certainly, a shutdown corner would help more immediately than a top notch WR. And it could be nothing more than that. However, I think it's silly for Tennessee to draft for need, and I think they agree.

No trades thus far, a little disappointing. We assume Washington will jump on Williams, no? Maybe we'll see someone jump into Arizona's spot here.

They'll listen to him and take his input into account...but, it's not like his report on Williams is going to discount what they think about another player. I'm sure they would have loved to add Mike Williams, but when forced to choose, they felt CB was a bigger need. They play in a division with Peyton Manning, Byron Leftwich, and David Carr, and they lost their starting 2 CBs this offseason. No-brainer pick as far as I'm concerned.Mike Williams is a slightly faster version of Ben Troupe, anyway. ;)
