***Official*** NFL Draft Thread 2005 (3 Viewers)

Cominng soon: Aaron Rodgers picked in second round, awkwardly poses for photos while holding up a #1 jersey.
If he gets by Green Bay and Washington, I've be shocked. I could also see someone (Seattle) taking a flyer on him or someone else (Tampa) trading a future pick to get him.COlin

Seattle can't take a flyer on him, they have way too many holes on defense.I just don't think Gibbs is young enough to draft Rodgers. He won't get any benefit from it.

And Sherman will be fired if the Pack stink it up this year, so why does he basically throw away his first round pick?

Tampa makes some sense, but they've invested in both Griese and Simms. I maintain he goes to the Raiders.

Oakland is a good call as well. PArt of me thinks Shannahan is wishing he still had te 25 right about now.Colin

Current Seahawks defensive starters:DT: Cedric WoodardDT: Rashad MooreMLB: Niko KoutouvidesWLB: Solomon BatesI think they use the pick on a front seven player for sure.

As a Jets fan, I'm not sure what my thoughts are on not having the 26. Do you think the value of it has gone up or down since a day ago?

On ESPN radio, Clayton is saying that Washington really like Campbell and would take him ahead of Rodgers. So he could easily fall out of the first.

You seem to have forgotten Jamie Sharper and Marcus Tubbs. Or were you listing people you thought were weak?COlin

where did you put Jamie Sharper?their DTs aren't that bad, IMO. They also drafted Marcus Tubbs in the 1st round last year.

GDB looking at old depth charts. Yeah, Sharper helps a good deal, and the secondary is good. Dan Cody still seems like a good fit.

Say Rodgers falls out of the first, is there any chance the Niners work out a deal to trade Alex Smif, then pick up Rodgers?

Lowest i see Rodgers falling is to Cleveland in the second, absolute lowest.
I wouldn't be suprised to see them move up a bit to get him, like to Atlanta or San Diego is he slips.COlin
Kinda surprising no one on this board has suggested the Falcons take Rodgers yet, eh?For what it's worth, I think they should trade up for Clayton.

Would it be bad if Rodgers just got up and left? He should just take a cab over to Scores and have a couple of Jack and Cokes!

Yes. However, they only have 10 minutes in Round 2 to pick, IIRC, so itwould take some speed.Colin

I am a big Jets fan too, but I think TE was their biggest need. I am not sure if Heath Miller will last to the 26th pick (I do not have TV acces, so he may be gone as I write this), but the Jets have been burned by the last few "Heath Millers" they have taken in recent years (Brady, Becht). I think by getting Jolley they will get a serviceable TE and only dropped 21 picks to do so.Now, if one of the big three CBs had dropped to that 26th pick, I would not be happy right now...

Matt Jones to JAx....Interesting pick. I guess they drank the koolaid

One of the most nightmarish days of my life (other than the day the I agreed to go shopping at Crate & Barrel with my wife) was watching Matt Jones run all over Texas in Austin a couple years ago.

Alright, ther eis a stretch of teams coming up here that there is just no way Rodgers should slip by: 1 22 Ravens 1 23 Seahawks 1 24 Packers 1 25 Redskins 1 26 Raiders

I don't think the Ravens are going to even contemplate another Cal/Tedford QB at this point.

fairly predictable draft thus far, with the exceptions of Mike Williams falling to 10th and lack of Rodgers being drafted.the Williamson pick over Williams will either be genius or stupidity, but many "experts" said Williamson was "speeding up the draft board" and several predicted Williams to fall into the teens, so some truth must be there.
