***Official*** NFL Draft Thread 2005 (2 Viewers)

the look on the jets fans faces was classic when the kicker was announced...they looked like a bunch of loud mouths who had been ragging other teams picks and now must sit in shame till they leave... :lmao:

Seattle and Carolina exchange 2nd round picks

Seattle acquires the 45

Carolina gets 2nd (54), 4th(121) and 4th(126) from Denver though Cleveland

Seattle selects LB Lofa Tatupu
 2 4th round picks seems like a very steep price to move up 9 spots in round 2
Not if they really want tatupu. The next several teams need D help. Miami, Jets, Cinci, Minn, St. Louis, and Green Bay will all be drafting D today... I think it's conceivable Tatupu wouldn't have made it down to SEA.
Odell Thurman was the consensus top rated ILB though. They jumped up for a guy other teams may not even want. They aren't exactly in a position to just throw away 2 quality picks.

anyway, they definitely needed help at LB.

LMAO at the Jets fans reactions.

I actually think it's not a bad pick - Nugent should be MONEY.
Definitely a good pick -- the Jets biggest need was filled. No one else would have helped us score points like Nugent.

After Moss, the Vikings have had enough of players with personal problems. Thurman has too much baggage to go there right now - they're having none of it.

Bradway tipped his hand yesterday to the media saying he thought Nugent's history kicking in cold weather and his accuracy was very attractive.

Dolphin pick Matt Roth's bio on NFL.com

Roth is regarded as one of the premier pass rushers in the collegiate ranks and one of the toughest players in the country. He is a blue-chip prospect with a blue-collar work ethic. Roth is a colorful character who plays the game as if he is on a "search and destroy" mission. He is the source of a campus urban legend, as many Hawkeyes talk of the time Roth challenged and cleared out an entire bar in a fight. Even in practices, the coaches have to pray he stays under control. They will generally blow the whistle early on plays, so Roth does not hurt any of the offensive players. There are times when he plays with such intensity in practices that the coaches must sit him down, even for walk-throughs.

I thought we were talking about the Seahawks.

Hmm... then I guess one of us must be drunk.EDIT: but I think the same thing applies - if Seattle won't hold onto Shaun Alexander, a proven commodity, for sure just because of his loud mouth and me-first attitude, Odell seems like a crapshoot to me too.

I agree with Frye going to Cleveland UNLESS a couple players stay on the board that should be gone, I think Cody, Barnes and justin Miller are all possible Cleveland picks if they fall.

Torry Holt is impressing me - looks like he's got a nice job as a color commentator ahead of him in a few years.

So I had to miss a few picks for lunch with the wife... am I blind, or is Miller still on the board?
He's still out there. Rams passed on him for Bartell, and Kiper ripped them for it.Packers could lock up a nice CB with Miller here or a nice DE with Dan Cody (still available, right?)

Yes, Miller is still available.
Then WTF were my Bears doing picking up that jackass Bradley?!? Heath Miller still on the board, and we take a returner.... sigh...
NO. Heath Miller went #30 to the Steelers.I thought you were talking about CB Justin Miller from Clemson.

T Khalif Barnes and CB Justin Miller are still around...could be great vlaue to their future employers. The Jets aren't too far away :fingerscrossed:

Ah. Not for my Bears, but also a surprise still having around. I hate missing picks to eat.

Glad to see the positive reviews of Odell - was wondering what the thoughts were on him - hopefully Marvin keeps him in line :)Anyone know what his Wonderlic was? The sportsline write-up on him had it as being very low.-QG

If the Jags don't pick Justin Miller, I'll throw up.
:X And they take a CB from Bethune-Cookman?
Green Bay took a safety-conversion from there. They needed a safety.
:bag: Got ahead of myself there. I still don't understand why Miller is still on the board though. Jags did get a very solid pick nevertheless.

And Collins was projected early Day 2.....doesn't make sense at all to take him there.

Outright steal to get him there.
Definitely. If they'd gotten Barnes in rnd1 and Jones in 2, this would've been a solid draft. Now they get Barnes cheaper, and Jones is going to be cheap anyway because no one knows where he's even going to play. Nice work by the Jags.

i'll echo other thought, barnes an absolute steal here for the Jags.i wouldn't have been pissed if the Bolts would have taken him at 28. 52 is grand larceny.

Ravens took Dan Cody.It seems they always get great value with their picks.
