Gamers club at Best Buy. Membership is for 2 years, I got it for $30 but I know it is more expensive now although they have ran specials lately for as low as $30. When you get it, you get 20% off all new games, bonus reward points, and some pre-order offers in addition to your reward zone stuff.
Before the 20% deal it used to be $15 for a year where they had a magazine with coupons every issue, some great/some useless. They decided to discontinue the mag so they came out with the percentage discount to replace it.

Regarding the pro controller questions - it is the best controller to use for most games, especially if you play Xbox or PS. With a few exceptions it will work on pretty much any game that uses a Wii Remote.

Great tip! Wii U Nintendoland/Mario 3D bundle is onsale at Target for $249.99. I only saw it available as an in-store pick up. I ordered the exact same thing from Best Buy last week for $299.99, called them and they matched the Target price and gave me a $50 credit. Good deal. Thanks.
I don't have the system so someone else correct me if I'm wrong, but yes if you want to use a GameCube controller, you'll need an adapter. I don't think the Wii u was built with holes for the GameCube controllers socket head.

Why would you want to use a GC controller? Is it just so you don't have to buy another one?

I read it was the best way to play, but I don't know for sure. The Wii U Pro controller looks nice too. I have like eight controllers already.

I've got 2 sitting in a drawer. Haven't been used in a very long time. Maybe I'll get an adapter and check them out or maybe I'll fire up the GC and see if it works.
I just picked up the Wii U at Target yesterday. I got the Super Mario and Nintendo Land bundle for $250 and I also bought Mario Kart. I'll probably fire it up this weekend.
For those that play Mario Kart on-line, are you connected via a wireless signal? Is the connection reliable? I have a home network but I was wondering if the Mario Kart signal would go in and out while playing.

Stupid ####### system won't sync! Similar problem reported by lots of other people only. Everything is plugged in correctly but the symbols don't show up on the tv screen.....just the big wii symbol. #### this. I'll try it again in the morning but really tempted to smash the #### out of it right now.

That sucks. Are you pressing the SYNC button on the Wii U and on the GamePad? Does the GamePad turn on?
Yes, I'm pressing the sync on both and trying all types of ####. The gamepad seems to be working fine. I just can't get the symbols to show up on the tv screen.

I'm not sure I'm following but there's a button to switch the display from gamepad to TV.
I'm referring to the initial set-up. Once everything is plugged in, you're supposed to sync the console to the gamepad. To do this, you push both red sync buttons (one on gamepad and one on console) and then some symbols show up on the TV screen that are then entered on the gamepad. I don't get the symbols on my TV. Just the Wii U symbol and nothing happens.

No, not yet. I'm done with it tonight. I'll let it sleep tonight and think about what it has done. I'll mess with it tomorrow and call support if need be.

That sounds like it may be bricked.
Sucks to have to take it back and get replaced but you really shouldn't have to do anything but turn it on and follow a bunch of steps to get going - stuff like create a Mii, some basic settings, etc.
I talked with Nintendo tech support this morning and they want me to send it in for a free repair. They already sent me the UPS shipping label and it should only take 2 or 3 weeks. Bummer. Oh well.

No way I would do that. I'd do an exchange in store if possible.
I don't know. I guess I could have and that would have been another option. But I almost feel like Target would have just repackaged it and put it back on the shelf for someone else to be disappointed. Meh. Either way isn't a big deal as long as a I have a working Wii U at some point.

Bummer having to wait. Glad this wasn't a XMas present for kids or something like that.
Looks like I never updated this....
It was sent to a repair place in Syracuse and I got back sometime in January. Everything was packaged very well and it works great. No complaints here.
Now who wants to get powned in Mario Kart online?

My 9 year old is having Pectus Surgery in two weeks. He'll be laid up in the hospital for a week following, so I'm looking to bring our WiiU to his hospital room to give him something to do. He won't be able to move/jump around, or raise his hands/arms up over his head for a few weeks. Any suggestions on some "regular" game play where he can just use a controller without body movement?

Replayability alone is the highest of any game released in the last decade.
Allows both creativity (making the levels) and some real moments of surprise/joy (seeing others' levels).

Great game but the local multiplayer isn't as good as Mario Kart or a Mario Party game IMO which Capella was looking for.

Single player and you don't have to have internet connection but if you don't you are missing out on 90% of the cool stuff in the game.
