**** Official Nintendo Wii U Thread **** (1 Viewer)

I might be punting on this game already. :lmao:

I spent two hours trying to beat the first boss (giant seal) and I just can't do it. All the crap he throws at you gets me every time.

I just don't have the patience to beat hard levels of a game like I used to.
:lmao: barrell rolls are your friend. That boss is nothing compared to what's coming
Thanks for the tip. Finally beat it but that still took another 6 attempts.

Man this game..

we finished the game but don't think we unlocked any special levels. Missed a kong letter on a lot of boards. It was way harder than I anticipated

Mario Kart comes out this week. Probably the last chance for this system to sell any units. Will be interesting to see if sales tick up at all.

It'll be one of the next chances. Smash Bros will likely sell more systems. If the rumors of a new Zelda are true, then that will truly be the last chance.

Hmm....i may have to register. Maybe I am getting old but I found Nintendo online setup...i mean giving access to my daughters mii super clunky. It keeps asking me for confirmation email. That said pumped for Mario kart

Is Smash Bros coming out soon?

It just seems like this system is dying on the shelves.

Release date will be announced during E3. It will also be playable at select Best Buys during that time.

No it was 12 bucks. Plus the free Lexus maybe Mercedes swag.

I told my daughter it was a thanksgiving present :bag:

excitebike track was awesome

Smash Bros. drops in a couple of days. College campuses are going to be full of battles, me thinks. The only question those kids will have is, "Do we play Smash Bros. or Mario Kart?" Tough decisions college kids have.

Very tempted to get a wii u bundle. As much as i love my ps4 and i know the wii would never take it over i also know games like super mario, mario kart, and super smash bros will never be matched on the ps4.

Ok i couldnt help myself. I just bought my son (and myself) the Wii U bundle from Best Buy for Christmas. It was $359 for Super Mario, Super Smash, And DK Country. Im also gonna purchase Maro Kart. Question, should i buy one of those pro controllers also? Will it work with these games? Do i need more than one?

You are going to need a second controller. I love the Pro Controller.

what is the first controller? The stupid nunchuk combo? Or the game pad? Can two people use pro controllers?

The game pad. I think you have to use it and then can use whatever else you have. I only have the game pad and 1 pro controller. I keep meaning to pick up 2 more pro controllers so we can play more than 2 at a time.

:blackdot:

Bought the same bundle (just found this thread)

I'd pick one of these up for Christmas but hell if I'm dropping the same amount of money for this as I would for a XB1/PS4.

Did they ever fix the obvious problem of the one " good " controller? Unless you enjoy watching your kids fight over the better controller I can't see purchasing this.

This is where I'm at. I had a great time with the Wii and playing Mario Kart on-line but this system with the Mario Kart 8 bundle is over $300. Kinda ridiculous.

Question.....do the regular Wii controllers w/ knunchucks work with the Wii U or do they make you buy new controllers?

you can use old controllers.
Giving a Wii U to my kids this year. They have the old Wii and a bunch of those white wand controllers. Would you recommend buying the Wii U Pro Controller as the extra controller, or should the old Wii wand be ok to play Marko Kart 8? Not really clear what the Wii U Pro Controller is, or if you need it for certain games.

It's been reported that next week at Target, the WII U is going to be $249 and comes with Mario 3d world and Nintendoland. Also next week, Best Buy is having a buy 1 get 1 40% off WII U games and if you are in the gamers club that stacks as well so a good time to get 2 or 4 extra games. The old WII controllers works with the new system although the WII U pro controller is much better for a lot of games including Mario Kart. Since we got Mario Kart 8 my son has barely played anything else and hasn't touched the original Infinity since. I got the controller on sale for $20/$25 and would say it is really worth it.

Looking around through Best Buy, Amazon, Target you can get some of the best games pretty cheap for the WII U. I was expecting to be done Christmas Shopping but at Best Buy next week, it'll be hard to pass on the new Toad game bundled maybe with the new NES remix game. $40 gcu dropped to $32, then NES remix $29-$6-40% about $14....

We do have WII U Super Mario, 3d World (great) , Mario Kart 8 (great!), Lego Marvel. I got Disney Infinity 2.0 for Christmas for the son.

Thanks. I'm assuming the console comes with 1 Wii U controller?

Yes WII U comes with the one big touchscreen controller. Not very known and we don't use this feature much but you can also play your WII U just on the controller and have something else on tv although I guess a few of the games like Mario Kart have a function for using the tv and the screen on the controller.

Know what you're getting with the WII U everyone, least powerful of the new systems and it hasn't received nearly as much 3rd party games and have missed some big franchises. You will get all the big time Nintendo exclusives though and it is really good for kids gaming. Of course Infinity and Skylanders are big for this system. The games take a long time to go on sale or get discounted like many of the titles on XBOX/PS3 and PS4.

Best games for the system are the exclusives and they have come out extremely slow. Wanted are new Metroid and Zelda games...I'll probably be checking out this Toad game (my kid loves Toad, even was him for Halloween) and this Remix game (I think another in the works) even though it isn't the full NES games.

Quick list of probably the best games on the system besides Infinity: Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros, Mario 3d World, Mario U, Wind Waker HD, Donkey Kong Country, Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors.

Quick search on Amazon: Lego Hobbit $19, Lego movie $19, Lego Marvel $15, Lego Batman 2 $15, Duck Tales $17, Mickey 2 $12, Injustice $15 so you can get some decent games cheap.

Might be a little pricey just to add another system in the house for some, but we are all FBG's right?? Mario Kart really is a system seller, we have downloaded/got old copies of every Mario Kart except for Mario DS, it really is hard to go back past anything before the Gamecube one once you see this new one.

I'll be honest I have no idea what that is. We use the game pad and the leftover wii remotes we had.

If you're buying this to play COD or some other shooter, you're buying the wrong system.

We wrestled with this too before buying the U. But my kids are not hard core gamers—Daughter is 8 and only plays Infinity, son is only 4 and has not grasped the whole controller thing yet, he is constantly needing help jumping and doing any combination type stuff. Its prob mostly our fault, b/c we just dont go home and fire up the system on a daily basis, unlike my SIL's kids who are roughly the same age and have most games beat.

So while I agree, we are getting less "Firepower", I dont think my family is in need of it yet. Plus with the games and such we already invested in Wii, I could not justify moving away from it. We would be really starting them over b/c they couldn't play their familiar games...mario kart, Wii Resort, etc. In 2-3 years when my son outgrows the U, then I will make the switch.

Just bought at amazon

Lego Marvel for $15

Just Dance 4 for $13

and Zombie U for $14

with the DK, Smash bros, and Mario Land included in the bundle, its a good start to our library. Just hoping to find a good price on Mario Kart 8, but we have an old mario kart to keep us busy if not.

open box Pro Controller knock off $20....any thoughts?

or this knock off?

after what i've already invested in this thing, I don't want to drop another $50+

Not sure on those controllers, they look decent and the price is good, I would have never got it if it was full price. Prob worth the gamble saving that much.

Online Best Buy has Mario Kart 8 for $51.99, if you have gamers club 20% off takes it to just over $40. Worth every cent.
