***Official NY Mets 2009 Thread*** (2 Viewers)

1 game under .500 - Santana vs Chan Ho Park tonight. It's May 6th.They are 2 games out of 1st.Hang in there Mets fans. As frustrating as they are to watch (Delgado in the 9th last night) it's too early to be in "September" mode.
 FLA came back to earth, philly's pitching is awful and the Nats are the Nats. I don't care if they finish with a losing record, just win the friggin division and get into the playoffs. They've wasted a few prime years of reyes, wright, beltran, they need to make this happen soon!

Look at Johan go. Guy is just masterful

Whats up with all the dooshes at the Stadium not even watching the game? Is it a "scene" hanging at the Shake Shack?

Damn, Santana is the ####### goods. I think I read that his only loss in his last 20+ games was a 2-1 loss where both runs were unearned. Just sick.

I had to back off the ledge a couple of times in that game. I couldnt believe they were letting Chan Ho Park hold them hitless.

Johan is an absolute joy to watch every 5 days. Filthy.Have you gone to a game at Citifield yet? The Shake Shack and CF is a party. Huge area for food and beer and you can also watch the game from there. Reminds a little of the OF at Camden Yards.

Nice to finally have a bullpen that slams the door these days.

Looks like the Mets bullpen woes of the past have traveled across town to the Bronx.

On a little roll here. Starting pitching is starting to look a little better. I'd love to see a statline from Maine somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 innings, 5 hits, 2 walks, 5 K and 1 ER or something similar.

Not yet. Waiting til the excitement dies down.

Damn near close. 6 innings, 3 hits, 2 walks, 3 K and 1 ER

Going on his 2nd year of this, I think Im a Tatis believer. The guy needs at-bats.

Church blows

Awesome win last night. To say they stole one there would be an understatement.....
 Yep - bad call on Beltran steal of 3rd. But those calls go both ways - Victorino giving Reyes a forearm shiver last week is an example.Great game last night. The Chicken Tacos in CF are $$$.I'm also surprised that the streaker didn't get a beatdown in CF from security.

Pelfry pitched better too. Now, if Ollie can get his head on straight......

Delgado is opting for hip surgery and will be gone for about 2 months. Tough break for the Mets.

PLEASE do not trade for Russell Branyon.

I wonder what Huff (1B, 3B and OF) would cost them being a FA next year?

I have kyle blanks in my minors system. Pretty much stuck in baseball hell x2. Playing in the Padres organization and stuck behind Gonzalez. Not sure what your minors system is like but this guy would be a fit, imo, or a guy like this.

They are trying him in the OF only because he is big league ready but cant play 1B for them with Gonzalez there for the rest of his days.

An option like this would seem much more logical than going after a branyan or huff.

The Mets have Nick Evans as a 1B propsect but he's fallen off the face of the earth this year.I want no part of Branyan. Here's my wishlist for a stop gap 1B:Huff - FA after this year. Wouldn't cost them a top prospect. Can play 1B until Delgado comes back and then is versatile enough to move to 3B or OF.DeRosa - pretty much the same deal as HuffNick Johnson would be perfect but he gets hurt so much.VMart - too expensive and I doubt the Mets have the chips to trade for him in the 1st place.

I have zero confidence when Wright is up in a big spot

Struck out with men on base in the 9th and 11th tonight

SANTOS AND SHEFFIELD BABY!!!
Words cannot possibly express how important both are to this team right now. I will be pissed beyond words if Santos goes down when Schnider comes back.
No worries friend. Castro traded to the Sox. Think its the Sox, def. traded.
Yes, it was the White Sox
Wish it was Schnider, because I like Castro's bat better, but whatever.....

The deal was Castro and $$'s for a former first round draft pick pitcher - I think a guy drafted the same year as Pelfrey. Who knows, maybe we get lightning in a bottle and the guy is a late bloomer as a number of pitchers are.

Today's Line Up made me ill.

A. Pagan LF 0-0

F. Martinez RF 0-1

C. Beltran CF 0-1

F. Tatis 3B 1-1

D. Murphy 1B 0-1

R. Martinez 2B 0-1

B. Schneider C 0-1

W. Valdez SS 0-1

T. Redding P 0-1

Seems like Manuel conceded this game before it began

I know Josh Johnson has dominated the Mets, but he's not 1995 Greg Maddux for Chrissakes

You can't give games away

If it comes down to 1 game at the end of the year, remember this one

It was a good idea to rest everyone today. An ace against Redding and a bunch of guys on the DL - chances werent good to begin with. Get the guys rested and make sure they're ready for the upcoming games. You cant win everyday in baseball, you need to play to win the war not the battle.

Get to your own thread skankee. Seriously, guys needed rest and you have the rest one each day and hurt a little for 3 games or take your lumps and hope for something good when you take all the lumps in one. It happens - 162 game season and this might not have been the wrong approach.

 The more things change...
Easy now - first game they blew headed into the 8th inning I believe.Parnell needs to be the 8th inning guy now with Feliciano & Stokes in the 7th. The problems Putz is having right now reminds me of Maine last year . . .Decreased velocityBelt high meatballs down the middleNot throwing the cutter becuase of the bone spur pain in his elbow.I'm not buying he doesn't get pumped up to pitch the 8th instead of the 9th.Sit him down for a while or have the surgery to get rid of the bone spur now so that they have him later in the season.Seems like most of the Mets that played in the WBC are having problems this year - Putz & Ollie to name 2 of them.

Looking like a sweep in PittsburghNice outing today Pelfrey :wall: :wall: :wall:
Three steps forward, three steps back with this team. And now Reyes has a torn Hammy. The lineup is starting to look like a AAA one.Raul Ibanez sure would look good in this lineup right now.....
