***Official NY METS 2014 Thread*** (1 Viewer)

:lmao:

Didn't see your post first koya.
Its like Linsanity was in the last couple days of that first just stupid run where from nowhere Asian Jordan came into focus.

Now, Murphs a far better overall player, and its a FAR bigger stage (though I suppose taking the lead from Harvard to MSG was a stage), but it's the only thing I can think of where there was just a silliness to the impossibility of what you know was going to happen.

Damn Cubs wide Pinstripe uniform confuses me sometimes when I'm looking out the corner of my eye. I'm like.. yes strike! wait, no, bad.

We're going to the World Series~~~ We goin' to the World Series!!!!!!!

WE ARE GOING TO THE WORLD MUTHA FUNKIN SERIES BEEITCHES!!!!!

No one could even dream of this at the trade deadline with this team. I still can't believe it. What a ride.

Met's pitching just wouldn't even give them a chance - yet ironically the offense was so helpful in their ability to get the lead - and never let the other team claim it.

Shame TU couldn't see this - he'd be happy as a pig and #### for Mets fans and for his hometown. Queens gotta be goin' nuts right now. And he lived within (long but possible) walking distance from Citi.

Has any hitter ever hit a HR in every game in a series / for each game of a 4 game sweep (UNTIL now that is. :coffee: )

It goes way without saying that this season is well beyond "successful" on so many levels.

But, maybe it's the tradition of baseball - there is something to winning the Pennant. The division of leagues, even diluted with interleague play, different rules and general style of play as a result.

NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPS is something not just to be proud of. That's a shirt worth buying, if you know what I mean.

It's the Pennant.

That said, I am going to watch a game and hopefully two from the other league that I wouldn't really care other than glancing at tomorrow, and enjoy is SO DAMN MUCH... hoping to extend that series is all.

Bask in this glow. Im fine waiting until Tuesday or whenever.

THE PENNANT IS OURS!

This was so far down the list of possibilities just a few months ago...it's really difficult to process.

And Big Sexy got the W tonight!

Can they televise the simulation games over the weekend? I'm not even kidding. How much fun will our guys have?

Team just gets along so well, too. Hard to find, especially in NY with disparities in salary and big media and expectations... but this team really all support one another. Loving this.

I said to friends (and maybe posted here too) back in April that this is one of my favorite Mets teams because I liked all the players (my other two favorites were the 1986 and 1999 teams).

Some odd moments this year-

* historically weird Syndergaard start in San Diego

* John Mayberry batting cleanup

* Danny "Troll" Muno making three errors in one game

* Nieu Jack Citi

* Daniel Murphy being oblivious to a broken bat that came inches from hitting him by third base

* Keith Hernandez talking about tufted titmouses

Let's not overlook an EXCEPTIONAL managerial job here.

This team was as prepared for everything they saw it seems. They put themselves in position for success - through the guarantee of slugging and the base to base and capitalize strike 3 run scored. And I give that to Terry, Sandy and the whole staff.

Not only that, but Terry has played the right music every step of the way here. It's a focused but loose clubhouse. In New York. And four young (2 rookie / near rookie) arms to rely on.

Matz got enough rope today to really learn a lot. Get into trouble and out, to have a really good few early innings. A luxury to let him get to two men on and couldn't risk any longer.

Thor's inning of relief. But only one inning.

Putting Murphy in the lineup.

Guy hit every note.

In 36 NLCS innings, the Mets never trailed, were tied for either 2 or 3 innings, and were ahead for 33. I think that's pretty good.
