Once again...it feels like I'm a kid again and Xmas is tomorrow. I just wish tonight was over...it's excruciating sitting around.

So they went on around 8:10? I know somebody there so I'll confirm at some point tonight.

8:23 per my foot soldier on the ground in Pitt. Giddy up!

Starting out pretty mellow...... Pendulum, Of the Girl, Nothingman...

Of course one of the few songs I've never heard comes out of the two slot at a show I should be at...

Man, I've been out of the loop with Lightning Bolt...Crazy Work schedule and then a debilitating flu have had me oblivious to most of the outside world Since Labor Day. Haven't even heard the new album. Going to try and rectify that tonight. Still ticketless for either Bk show, and as crappy as I feel right now, I am really glad it wasn't THIS weekend. Looks like I'd be dropping about $200 for an upper single via StubHub. Not really in a position to do that. What was face on this tour? If you NYC guys know anyone with an extra, hit me up via PM. Otherwise it looks like I may be Missing PJ in NYC for the first time in a while. Which is far from the worst thing in the world.

One night too soon to skip it.

I think we can pencil in Getaway, Swallowed Whole, and Future Days (1st or 2nd song of E1) for tomorrow night. Not sure what they are going to do with Father's and Sleeping but I think they will be the rare one's off the new album.

That set list looks pretty accurate. They put the lights on for the last 2 songs which was weird.

The woman didn't go into labor, so middle name of Vedder or Pearl isn't happening. O well. At least I can tell my child they wilded out inside their mom's stomach right before they were born.

Crowd went a little too crazy for Grilli. I'm a Bucs fan but PJ hasn't been there since 07 maybe 06, that should be enough to go crazy for 3 hours.

They often put the lights on for the last 1-2 songs of the night...think it's pretty cool to see the whole place going nuts

I know I'm being "Elitist PJ fan" here, but WTF did they put Sleeping By Myself on this record? That's a perfect Eddie solo song and the band doesn't add anything to it IMO. If they had to pick one, I really like the live versions of "Setting Forth" they do.

Yeah I'm with you, Sleeping By Myself is fine but wasn't worth recording twice.

Glad I'm able to get to know all these songs before the BAL show.. stoked!

I was just following the Buffalo show at PJ website. It seems like there are people who spend a LOT of the show updating on their phones. That seems really odd to me. No way I spend any time at a PJ concert texting anything.

It does sound like Buffalo got one hell of a show!!!!!!!

I wish it would be like Phish where you could almost guarantee that every show would be streamed online somewhere

Now that thread seems to be gone. Do they kill those when the show is over? It has been replaced with the set list and two pages of reviews. Last night it was well past 25 pages.

Pretty solid show last night with lots of new songs, 9 total. They had to restart My Father's Son and it was just OK. Pretty surprised there was no Getaway. Random thoughts:

- Pendulum open back to back nights to start the tour. Not sure what to think of this yet. I like the song for sure, don't get me wrong, but if I went to Pitt the night before I'd have been bummed.

- Started with a slower tempo once again, Pitt 4 songs and Buff 3 songs. Nice surprises though with Low Light and Sometimes last night.

- The only other minor surprise of the night IMO was Rats, which was great.

- Porch and RVM close the main set and encore 1 both nights. I don't really like patterns like this if they continue to develop. I thought they'd maybe do one of the two and mix in Blood or something to close a set.

- They really played many of my personal favorites with the 21 non-LB tunes they had to work with. Immortality, I Got ####, Present Tense, SOLAT, Off He Goes, and Go. Really really good stuff here. I also enjoy songs like Comatose and Got Some, sneaky good rockers.

- Mix in great staples like Corduroy, DTE, Porch and RVM...tough to really go wrong last night.

- I Got #### --> Porch was dream like. Then Off He Goes batting leadoff in the encore. Really unreal.

- Ed told the I Got #### story regarding the name of the song, Neil, Mirrorball. Basically, Neil says it's Ed's turn to write a song cuz they did 9 or 10 without Ed. Ed told him ok I got sh!t. Neil's like ok get something done then. Ed's like, that's the song, I Got Sh!t. I totally botched the story here, but you probably get the idea. Have to hear that again...it was pretty funny.

- Even Flow placed perfectly for my urine to flow.

- And finally, I personally think if Sirens was on, say, No Code or Yield (timeframe wise, I'm not really thinking of the actual fit on said albums, although it would be cool on Yield I think), it would have survived time and been a common, well liked tune...think Given to Fly maybe.

What time have they been going on? 8:15 or so. Have tickets to Barclays on the 18th and want to make sure I am there on time and also have had the proper amount of alcohol before entering. Just trying to figure out the very important correct balance.

I couldn't get into the city yesterday for the pop up store. Would have been awesome to get a poster before the show.

Very Important Correct BalanceTM :banned:

Always take a pee break during evenflow. Usually Mike will be halfway through his solo by the time I go pee, get another beer, make a phone call.

Going to see them In Charlotte. I don't think I will ever invest as much time and money seeing them in far-off places as I did a few years back. But still looking forward to the show, and to listening to the new album (waiting for the vinyl to get here).

Yes, it was around 8:20 each night.

So the girlfriend is going to have to travel for work so I am going to part with her ticket. Figured I'd check if any FBGs is interested before offering it (or both) on Stubhub. This is the Charlotte show, upper level (206).

Shoot a PM if interested.

Trout! Glad you are getting a close show. None for me this time. Hope y'all are doing well.

Finally got through my first listen today. I hadn't heard anything other than Mind Your Manners and Sirens previously, so most of it was new. Defeinitely not what I expected. I heard some comments that it was going to sound a lot more like old Pearl Jam, and I definitely do not hear that. What I identify with classic PJ is the emotions it can extract from you when you listen. With a couple of exceptions, there isn't much of that here (but, ftr, I haven't read through the lyrics so I guess that could change). The music, I think, is a continuation of Backspacer. I don't get a sense of "going back to the old formula" vibe from this album, but just an extension of the timeline of their ever changing sound.

i think the stone article above says 4-5 songs are from the backspacer sessions

I read it as only one song actually dated from Backspacer. Regardless, it does sound like they just keep making and working on music continually even if there is a long lag between records.

I think "old" maybe might mean Yield and not necessarily Ten or Vs.

Like all new PJ albums, it definitely grows with time. Been listening consistently for the past week. Swallowed Whole and Lightning Bolt are going to be great live

I sense some of that. Both of those were solid live also. Yellow Moon was nice too. Was shocked they didn't play Getaway either night...thought it was a lock for Buffalo.

Yep, new PJ always takes a while to grow on me, but after only a couple of listens there are already a few that I really dig. I have to do my traditional sit down and listen through while reading the lyrics so I can get into it past just the sound. Sirens is the only one I've listened to enough to know many of the lyrics, and it is the early favorite (though I know it is also the song I will get sick of first).
